Just stayed in the haven hotel and had a wonderful experience. Our package consisted of 2nights B&B and a meal on the first night. In la Roche the food was extremely tasty. Each course was put together and presented with such detail. The technique in each component on every course was extremely impressive. The menu changed every day. Originally we were only going to eat in the hotel the first night but after eating our first dinner we were sold. There was no point in going else where because I had already found my fave place in poole. Haha The staff were great and very attentive. The tables were angled towards the windows. The view of the sea was totes amazeeee. I've never in my life been anywher that was that close to the sea. It kinda felt like we were on a ship, which added greatly to the whole experience :) If you live or are visiting Poole, Dorset... U Defo gotta take a visit to the haven hotel. Totes worth it!!! read more

This is a 'special occasion' restaurant, in the Haven Hotel. Marvellous views across Poole Bay to the Old Harry Rocks. There is an outside terrace for summer dining. Our recent birthday lunch started with chargrilled courgette, and crab cakes, both of which were done to perfection. Sadly rabbit was 'off', so I had pork and duck cassoulet. This was a nice combination, with a big hunk of pork belly, a sausage and a confit duck leg. It could have done with a green salad or vegetable to cut the richness, but none was offered, and I didn't think of it til too late. My partner had chicken breast and butternut squash puree. The cooking was really first class, so it was a real disappointment that the service was truly terrible, with the Maitre d' fussing about serving wine, instead of ensuring his waiting staff weren't hiding or chatting while patrons died waiting. Life was too short to go on to pudding, two courses having taken two hours. So I recommend avoiding weekends. The bill for two with coffee and wine was £62 pricey, but the food was very good. read more
