We are very thankful to have found the LA Spanish School. We are a bilingual household (English and Turkish) and though it would good for our 3 year old son to start learning Spanish at an early age. Living in a very diverse and multicultural city we understand that our kids need to be equipped with the linguistic and cultural skills for their future. Learning another language is only possible through fully immersion so we were seeking immersive Spanish preschools when we came across LA Spanish School. We fell in love with the school's fully immersive curriculum, fantastic teachers Diana & Mirella and the facility. I cannot express enough how delighted we are with the Spanish immersive preschool program at LA Spanish School. Our son attends the 5 day preschool program. One of the standout features is the dedicated and passionate team of educators who make learning a joyous experience for the little ones. From the moment our child stepped through the doors, -and this was the first time he enrolled in any childcare program- he had a great connection with both teachers. Maestra Diana and Mirella are such sweet, caring and well equipped professionals, it is impossible not to notice how amazing they are with all children. Maestra Diana and Mirella's expertise provide an enriching learning environment. They seamlessly integrate language acquisition into every aspect of the curriculum, ensuring that children are not only exposed to Spanish but also engaged in meaningful and age-appropriate activities. They are very patient nurturing, and skilled in creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. I noticed how my son quickly learned Spanish words even by the end of his first week! He has been attending the school since fall and is now understanding all the commands, basic words, descriptions etc. Our child comes home excitedly sharing new words, phrases, and songs learned in class. He is very proud to learn another language that neither myself or my husband speaks. He is now teaching us Spanish! This makes us confident in the program's ability to instill a love for the language. Beyond language acquisition, we appreciate the emphasis on cultural exposure. The program incorporates celebrations, traditions, and customs from Spanish-speaking regions, giving our child a broader understanding of the world. This cultural integration fosters a global perspective and instills values of diversity and inclusivity. For example, we celebrated Dia De Los Muertos, Lanterns Night and attended their puppet show at a local park. The teacher go above and beyond to introduce aspects of the culture. The school also has a small community garden which enables the ones ones to be in the outdoors and connect with nature. Our son's favorite time in school is when they go to the 'jardin' to take care of herbs which teacher Diana so generously shares with parents and 'projecto' time where they do art projects. The school also teaches independence and social skills. For example my son learned to put on his shoes, wash his hands, interact with other kids, share and all the important things a preschooler needs to know before heading off to kindergarten. Our son now has friends and both teachers are very patient and nurturing with the children in helping them acquire these social skills. I cannot recommend higher the LA Spanish School to all parents and would like to thank the City of Santa Monica for their support in this fantastic program. One of the hidden gems in LA for infants, toddlers, and children of all ages to learn spanish. The main instructor is Diana, who is exceedingly patient and good with children. She has a gift for connecting with the littlest ones. The mommy, daddy, and baby class as well as the toddler classes are filled with spanish language, play, gardening, and education. You might not think that once a week for a 1 or 2 year old would yield any measurable results, but kids that young have started singing in spanish and saying words in spanish. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this program. We had my daughter enrolled in another pre-school type program and it just was not a good fit. At the time my little one was taking the once-weekly hour-long class offered by LA Spanish School and she absolutely adored Teacher Diana, so we have enrolled her full-time in the 9am-1pm morning sessions. It's our preschool, and it's really getting her ready for kindergarten! She has learned so much more with Diana than she did in the other class we had her in before. And she is starting to speak Spanish more and more, which is fantastic! Diana is a real gem and has a really great way of interacting with the kids. My daughter is... shall we say... intense. She is very high energy and likes to talk, talk, talk, and has some difficulty slowing down enough to listen and take direction. Teacher Diana knows just how to interact with her in a way that gets her attention and both shows and teaches respect. Seeing Diana with the kids makes me think of the things I've read in How To Talk So Kids Will Listen (And Listen So Kids Will Talk) and also Playful Parenting. If you haven't read those books, I highly recommend them. I'm not sure if Diana has read them, but the way she teaches it seems like she must have, or else she is just a natural with little ones! This is a wonderful little school situated in the recreation room of a park in Santa Monica. It's the perfect size and so hidden, mostly away from the public although it is a public park. What makes this program so wonderful is Teacher Diana she is great with the kids- a mixture of consistently warm, funny and fun teacher. She is the reason I drive almost 40 min across town 2 x a week for my 3 yr old daughter to attend. It's exciting and engaging. My daughter started going 2 days a week back in Sept. She spoke NO Spanish at the time. She now attends 4 days a week and speaks Spanish - is able to participate in class and can sometimes help me with vocabulary when I read books in Spanish to her. She absolutely LOVES it! There is nothing of this value in Santa Monica or the westside that I know of. Diana puts her all into this play-based class. Furthermore, the schedule is a lot more flexible than a traditional pre-school as you can attend 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 days per week and can change it every session. All the teachers at LA Spanish school are warm and engaging and are native Spanish speakers. They start the day with free play which is a great idea so the kids can get some of their energy out. After that they do circle time and songs and dancing in Spanish and they really incorporate learning shapes, colors, and foods in Spanish so that it is natural and fun. My daughter took the 1 hour spanish class in the spring and really liked it, so she goes here now 3 days a week for the pre-school. I love it and so does she! We feel very grateful to have found Diana and LA Spanish School. Our daughter had been attending a Spanish immersion preschool in the Bay area that we loved, and when we moved to Santa Monica this year, we were worried that we wouldn't have access to the same kind of Spanish immersion program that incorporated singing and dancing and lots of love as part of a preschool curriculum. Fortunately, thanks to wonderful Yelp reviews, we gave LA Spanish School a try and quickly found out that Diana had created exactly what we were hoping to find. Diana's lesson plans are creative and her energy is contagious. She recently taught a hands unit on the stages of butterflies that culminated in a fiesta to set the butterflies free. During the final festival of the year in which the children graduated, Diana made the beautiful call back to the butterflies as the graduates paraded behind their daring maestra who led the parade adorned with butterfly wings and walking on stilts. Every day she shows the children what they can accomplish if they just try. We are lucky to have found this school, and even though it will be sad to leave, we feel fortunate that many of the friends our daughter made at LA Spanish School will join her at Edison in the fall. read more

my daughter has been going to la spanish school for a year and i am so happy with my choice to send her there. i speak no spanish and it was hard at first for my daughter but now she understands a ton and has started speaking. they are such good teachers there, she just turned four in the summer and she counts to twenty, she can write her name and other words also. the school is very clean, they have great toys, the structure of their learning plan is impressive and they have a ton of fun. i will also add that teacher diana is the hardest working person i have ever met and comes up with the greatest little projects. they re-enacted this famous painting last year and photographed it, i will treasure that keepsake forever. honestly, it is such a wonderful place, and it is so reasonably priced, we love it. i highly recommend you try it out if you can, teaching your child another language is such a gift! read more
