Was invited out to dinner [5/19/26] and my date suggested La Tablita. I viewed the menu online and agreed everything looked tasty. Then when I checked the address realized I had driven right past it countless times as I regularly visit the Revivals store in the same mall complex. But I never paid attention to the rest of the businesses as they all look pretty dull and unassuming from the outside. But once inside, the decor of La Tablita is very nice and lively and the owner's have made the concerted effort to give the interior a Mexico vibe which I always hope for in ethnic restaurants as for me it adds to the dining experience. Mexican, Chinese and Thai are my favorite cuisines with them all being #1 on a given day so I was really looking forward to my meal. I always order the biggest combination plate in a Mexican restaurant because I want some of everything so I got the La Tablita Especial. My entree plate was so packed that my rice and beans came on a separate plate and could have been a full meal for a lesser eater, point being, you get your money's worth. And I had only taken a few bites before telling my dinner partner " Everything is delicious, I will definitely eat here again". I read one review of the waitress not being great but our young lady was prompt, very nice, checked back on us constantly and also suggested desert. And an older man I assume either a manager or possibly an owner checked on us as well. The only ding I could list is the beverage prices are a bit high, $4.99 for a glass of regular tea? But I still give an overall 5 star rating and in fact just writing this review has been making my mouth water thinking back LOL. read more

Still a favorite. The service and food are good, but it's pricier than the local taco shop, which doesn't have the ambiance. Bar offering beer, wine, and margaritas. Complimentary chips and salsa are provided while they prepare your drinks/food. The food is authentic, tasty, and the portions are large. Plenty of parking in the shopping center's private lot. La Tablita is a local favorite, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good Mexican cuisine and a fun place to hang out. read more

We have previously eaten at La Tablita and had wonderful experiences: good food, nice size portions, excellent, friendly service and relatively reasonable prices for the Valley. As testament to those experiences, I had previously written a positively glowing Yelp review - which makes my disappointment at our most recent visit all the more profound. We arrived a little after 7 on a weekday night and the place was packed, with a wait time of 30 minutes to be seated. The waitress assigned to be our server was, sadly, also assigned to serve a nearby table of 18 - which caused our service to suffer as a result. We were clearly not a priority for her. We had to call her over to take our orders. We had to ask for refills on the water. Once the food arrived, she never came back to ask if we wanted anything else or ask how things were. We had to call her over to remove dirty plates that sat as she passed us by multiple times. She never asked if we wanted desert and after another server finally cleared our table, she just placed the check down at which time I looked at her and said "That's okay - we didn't want desert anyway" to which she responded almost annoyed "Did you want desert?" Not the service we were accustomed to here and it definitely negatively impacted our dining experience. Had the manager been around when we left, I would have said something to him. We all work way too hard for our money to have to suffer through poor service when we treat ourselves to dining out. As for the food, as mentioned in my previous review, my "go-to" dish is the carne asada platter ($25.50). When my order came, the amount of food on the plate was noticeably smaller than on previous visits - the carne itself literally about half the size. Did they run out of beef in the kitchen? On past visits the portions were always large enough that I would wind up taking about half of it home. This time I had no problem finishing the clearly reduced portion that was served. The meat itself was not hot - more lukewarm - as was the rice and beans. I did not want to send it back because I was afraid how long it might take. I ate my meal because it was "okay" but definitely not what I had enjoyed on previous visits. In fairness, my two companions were both satisfied with their orders - one having the Caldo De Pollo Tlalpeno (large bowl of chicken soup- $17.95) and the other the beef fajitas ($25.95) - which both came as the large portions we are accustomed to and both orders came steaming hot. Bottom line - again - this was not the experience we had become accustomed to at La Tablita. Disappointing service - disappointing food for me. Maybe it was a one-off due to the large crowd that included more than one large group. Whatever the reason - I won't be returning anytime soon with so many other excellent restaurant choices in the Palm Springs/Cathedral City area. And I suggest if you wind up at La Tablita on a night when the restaurant is so crowded - you may wish to go elsewhere where you are sure to get better service. Two stars for the fact that my companions seemed to enjoy their meals - poor service aside. read more

We are big fans of California style Mexican restaurants, and this one is as good as it gets. Large plates at prices consistent with today's consumer world, probably a little lower than many others with higher rents to cover. I have read that there is sometimes a wait for seating and slow service, but that was not our experience at the lunch hour on a a Thursday. Greeted with a smile, seated within a few minutes, menus, water and chips with salsa instantly, and, by the way, the chips were tasty and delicate and the salsa was spot on. A large yet manageable menu, one begging for return visits to sample other meals, but this time we had a plate with a cheese enchilada, refried beans and a chicken taco, no rice because my partner doesn't care foe same. I had the Tostada Suprema with shredded chicken, a meal I ten$ to use to evaluate a new place. It was absolutely perfect, with an edible shell container of a huge amount of food, including sour cream, a large dollop of guacamole, cheese, lettuce, tomato, beans and what had to be half a chicken, perfectly moist. Let me start off by saying my experience here was disappointing. We were driving through from Arizona to California. Walked in with my family on Thursday March 19th, 2026. After being seated we waited over 30 minutes before a waiter acknowledged us. As we waited, we seen a few families get seated and get their order taken before us. An hour wait for 3 meals that 2 of the 3 meals were not what we ordered. 3 meals that were basic tacos, burritos and enchiladas cost $80. The service was awful. No acknowledgment to the hour wait or incorrect meals. Positive note is the food was okay but not okay enough to pay that price. read more

Horrible experience via La Tablita and GrubHub. We ordered from La Tablita Palm Desert for delivery. About 15 minutes later it was randomly cancelled. We were already hungry and in no mood to figure out something else. So we ordered from La Tablita in Cathedral City. And after more than 35 minutes that was cancelled too! Nothing and only a measly $5 "apology" credit from GrubHub in addition to refund. Over an hour and no food, no explanation and we were very hungry. No excuse for this. Born and raised in Southern California, I live now on the East Coast. And we struggle to find authentic Mexican food on the East Coast. There is very good Cuban there, and the people try very hard to make Mexican food. The point I want to make, though, is that unlike Restaurants that I have been able to find on the East Coast, the refried beans are the exact correct taste. They use the correct white Mexican cheese on the refried beans. The salsa is the best I've had in years, and it's nicely refrigerated. The enchilada sauce is special. It's as good as other restaurants but it has a little something extra that really makes it stand out. And the tacos are authentic as all get out (for an American taco of course!) but it's spectacular. I just can't recommend this place enough. This place feels like it's run by a family, everybody gets along and is possible related to each other. But they treat you like family when you're here they're very nice to you, very sweet, the wait time is not long. There's just no way to find fault with this place. I've eaten here twice in the last couple of months, and was pretty happy both times. This is an old school Mexican place with hard tacos and rich, red sauces. Locals rave about the albondigas and the chile verde. Most of those in my party had those, and said they were very good. I had the relleno, tacos, margaritas, and enchiladas. All of the food was delicious, including the table salsa and guacamole, and the service was fast and friendly. I won't think twice about visiting again. read more

Great service; authentic menu, huge portions. Frida Kahlo inspired art everywhere. Lots of locals eat here and have been coming forever. Our first visit to this restaurant was absolutely incredible. We like to try different restaurants while visiting Palm Springs and this beautiful little restaurant did NOT disappoint! We came in for lunch and split the chicken fajitas and they were excellent!!! The serving size was huge and we had plenty left over!!! The veggies and chicken were seasoned so well and the rice and beans were delicious. Also, the hibiscus tea was amazing!!! We will definitely return here on our next Palm Springs vacation! read more

The margaritas are not as good as they use to be. The salsa is very bland and no spice. Don't get the tamales there. My combination plate came with a pork tamale but they just gave me a pork enchilada instead and didn't tell me. When I told them about it they said they would go get a tamale but when they came back they said they're all out. Would be nice if they would tell you before they give you the plate instead of saying nothing and just giving you another item. Also the service isn't as good as it use to be. read more

I have been a frequent flyer of La Tablita, CC. They were very busy at lunch today. I ordered a frequent item, the 2 cheese enchiladas with rice and beans for $11.99. I asked for verde sauce rather than red, which is my usual. I noticed the food was not nearly as good as usual. I frequently tell others,, that although I am not a big fan of refried beans, their's eas the best I have had. i am aware that they recently opened another location and I wondered if the chef might have gone there? After getting/paying the bill ( my bad for looking it over. It is always the same) I noticed the charge was $21.99. Almost double. I brought this to their attention and was told it was because Ingo green sauce. It made no difference that I had done so a number of times previously. Thevwaiter was also very rude about the whole matter.The finally gave me a $5 bill (not $10) and sent me on my way. I am not a tightwad, but it is nice to find somewhere to have lunch under $15. I am glad there are a number of good Mexican restaurants in the valley. This is my first negative post. read more

Visited 5/17/2023 I need to say I've eaten at many Mexican Restaurants in the Palm Springs Area and this place Far Surpasses any Mexican restaurant in the area. Nothing fancy but excellent service. The Cocktails-are very tasty and they are not lacking in liquor. Be carful they have a way of sneaking up on you. The food was way over my expectations with everything I tried Amazing. Must have when visiting for the first time is (not on the menu) The La Tablita Egg Rolls. Stuffed with Shrimp, Bacon, Ortega Chili and Cheese they Keep you wanting more. Amazing Flavor Combination. Be sure to use your Yelp Check In for The Two full three item dinners consisting of A Beef Taco, A Chicken Enchilada, and A Chili Relleno stuffed with Extremely CreamyCheese and fantastic Beans and Rice. Four of us dined here on a recent Sunday afternoon. In the beginning it was quiet, by the time we left it was not. The ambiance is nice, the staff was very attentive and patient (we were there for a long time and didn't spend a lot of money). I like that the parking is easy too. Recently went to this great Mexican restaurant on a Friday night with reservations. It was busy, but we were seated immediately and enjoyed shrimp fajitas (with lots of shrimp) and all the sides. Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu (which is quite extensive) and the margaritas were tasty! I thought prices were very reasonable... I'll be back!
