From the fresh baked bread and buttery croissants to the perfectly made omelets and refreshing fresh-squeezed orange juice--everything was outstanding. Even though we're only in Santiago for a week, we've already decided we'll be going back again. A must-visit spot for anyone looking for a cozy and flavorful breakfast or brunch experience!

My go to order is the set of tomato, basil and hummus bruschetta-it is the most tasty combo ever. I also recommend the earl grey latte and assorted teas. The ambience is nonchalant and has a friendly-hipster vibe. It is full of amazing art work and the customer service is exceptional. In addition to a relaxed vibe, they have indoor and outdoor seating and have good working WiFi. I highly recommend this coffee shop and without a doubt come here again for the delicious bruschetta.

Melinka is not your ordinary cafe, it doubles as bakery where, in the same location, they bake their delicious pastries. The walls of the cozy cafe are filled with their fresh cakes, pies and cookies. The owner, a very nice older man, has owned the bakery/cafe for years and really knows his stuff. He spends most of his day working the cash register or helping take orders in the Mosqueto location (there are two more - one on Catedral and the other on San Martin). If you have a sweet tooth I definitely recommend coming and trying one of their many delicious cakes. I recommend the 'ricota de arandano' (blueberry ricotta cake) or their bizcocho de lucuma (lucuma cake). If it is sunny out I recommend sitting out with a nice book to read and a coffee as the cafe is located on a small street with little traffic.

Best cheesecake I have had in Chile! (It really deserves 5 exclamation points, but I don't want to…read morebe that girl...) They offer two different flavors of cheesecake one with fudge-like chocolate and the other with a berry topping. What makes this cheesecake really stand out from the others is the rich, creamy, filling (only attained by those who use quality ingredients and the right amount of cream cheese). Although I could go on forever about their cheesecake, they also offer both sweet and savory options. The owner and the other bakers use all natural and as many fresh ingredients as possible. The idea is to use the least amount of preservatives as possible. Pasteleria Sinfonia del Sabor boasts rich flavors, fresh ingredients and a unique style. They make all of their pastries and breads in house. Their store, although small, is filled top-to-bottom with different all natural delicacies that won't break the bank. The prices range from 1.450 for a slice of cake to 2.500 for a loaf of bread. I also recommend their carrot cake. It was moist, with spices and fresh carrot slices and manjar - perfect to accompany it with a hot cup of tea. The only down side is that the store, because of how small it is, is made more to pick up treats to-go than to enjoy them there. They only have one table with 2 chairs if you are lucky enough to find them unoccupied. Tip: They offer gluten-free options upon request. Most of their pastries has a vegan option, that is just as delicious (they either use vegetable oil, apple sauce or other natural ingredients to make up for the lack of buttermilk, eggs or milk) They also offer made to order pies, cakes among other things. I know where I will be getting my birthday cake next year!

Its wooden roof, large windows and warm interior is especially enticing, convincing you to come in, sit down and drink a cup of coffee with a delicious one of their pastries. The women who work there are super friendly, and the outfits they wear also go with the theme of the cafe. They are quick to help you pick between the many different options and are quick at serving it - even during the busy lunch or once hour. I recommend their buttercream vanilla cake (the frosting is thick and very buttery). Also, they have a delicious lucuma cake that makes my mouth water just thinking about it - their frosting is my favorite part of the cake and I usually eat it by the finger-full. However, my all time favorite is their chocolate cake (in fact, after the Chile-Brazil game, I walked over and picked one up for myself to drown my sorrows -- it is that good!). The cake itself is moist and the chocolate mousse in the middle gives it the perfect chocolatey texture and taste to satisfy even the most passionate chocolate lover. Their cakes are perfect to order for birthdays (call before to order ahead of time and get it personalized) They also have mini personal cakes (that are fairly cheap: $1.700/each) they are great to pick up quickly to let someone know you were thinking about them or better yet, a personal treat for yourself!
