My friend and I were causing an absolute ruckus in here (not actually, but we were the only ones yapping so it definitely felt that way) LOL! I entered La Ventana already having heard some great things about the establishment. The space is so beautifully designed, and I especially love how many seating options there are! The menu is a bit limited. I opted to get a matcha, while my friend got his recent go-to, a cold brew with heavy whipping cream and a splash of vanilla syrup. I didn't realize that the drinks came without any sort of sweetener, so I requested a splash of simple syrup after, which the barista kindly did for me! I thought their matcha blend was okay. I got it with oat milk which sometimes changes the flavor, so that could definitely be part of it since I've heard so many good things about it previously. My friend's cold brew was a bit sour, but it still did the job of waking him up and getting us on the go! I always passed by this spot on my way downtown, curious but unsure of what it was. I finally decided to stop in, and it turns out to be a nice, laid-back coffee cafe. I could definitely see myself bringing my laptop in and working here--it's got a great vibe. It is clear that they take great care and attention to making the coffee and ensuring everything is prepared with quality in mind. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Stopped by this spot during my visit to Detroit because I was looking for a place to get some work done. This place is perfect because they have outlets, free wifi, and a good amount of working space. Drink 4/5 Ordered an iced vanilla latte with whole milk and easy ice. It was good but not mind blowing. Ambiance and parking 5/5 Loved the ambiance with all kinds of seating, a clean bathroom, and lovely music. They have a front door and a back door so you can either park in the back alley or by the front of the coffee shop on the street. Price 5/5 I'd say $6.50 for an iced latte is average nowadays and that was one of the more expensive drinks they have. Service 4/5 The cashier and barista were polite and helpful but not overly friendly. Overall I'd definitely stop by if I visit Detroit in the future and am in the area! read more

Very cute, clean coffee shop with outdoor seating and live music in the evenings! I ordered a cappuccino and it was frothed to perfection even with art on top. My only complaint here is that their wifi was not working-- the whole reason myself and the people I were with even stopped in and bought drinks was so we could work while we were there. When I notified the barista, she looked surprised and walked away with no answer. I know she probably can't fix an internet problem- that is not within her job description- but I think management or owners need to address this. I spoke to two other customers who told me they were using data on their phone since they had also came in and hoped to use the wifi on their computers. Hopefully this will be addressed in the future! Just beware if you are coming here to work. read more

Picked up a Too Good To Go bag and was disappointed at the lack of value. The bag's contents were supposed to be $12 worth of goods soon to be tossed. In the bag was a single croissant. The croissant was delicious but too close to full price for something that was going to be thrown away. La Ventana has only been open for a month or so but they were already super busy. It is right across from the Eastern Market and on an up and coming strip. The area is honestly really cool and there is street parking. There are tables outside and plenty of seating inside including an elevated space that has stadium-style benches. The matcha latte is super good and the coffee cake was good too but I got a very small slice for $6. It is too pricey to frequent, but a great spot for doing work. The music would be a little too loud to have meetings online even with headphones but overall not too loud in there. There aren't many pastries, there was only the cake and a cookie at the time but I think they focus on being minimalistic. It is super well decorated and modern. It looked like they also serve cans of beer which I thought was cool. read more

a lovely, modern, and bright cafe. the workers were super nice. i ordered a flat white and a quiche lorraine. this cafe is definitely on the pricier side, but it's worth a visit! plenty of seating as well. we went on a saturday late morning, and there was even a dj playing (what id describe as) soft techno. the flat white was super delicious and the latte art was awesome. the quiche was definitely bigger than expected but not complaining at all! i especially liked the sharpness of the cheese -- and there was no soggy bottom either. definitely recommend. we went out of our way to stop by and it was so worth it! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Detroit. They're in a great location, right next to Eastern market, and probably only a 10 minute walk from my apartment, so I love stopping by on my way home from Eastern market. The main callouts I would make are the interior design and the staff. It's Scandinavian vibes, would a wooden interior, common seating space for more mingling rather than working at a table, although they also have good seating with tables and outlets if you want to work from there (as I have several times). The staff is incredibly nice, they really impressed me by remembering my name after I had only been a handful of times. The coffee itself is also super high quality, my sister likes to buy her beans directly from them and I also restock from them occasionally. Worth going just to check out the space, but worth returning to because of the great staff and the quality coffee. read more

Amazing coffee shop in Eastern Market! The interior is unique with ample seating for studying, meeting friends, or even playing games. The drinks are all incredible with my favorites being the DEM latte and Vanilla lattes. Their beans are the absolute best and I buy them by the bags for my own espresso machine. This is a vibe. Great coffee selection, great location, walkable from eastern market and shares a shady patio area with Flowers for Dreams. Literally, la ventana - the space gets a lot of natural light. I love they have more than just pastries. Plenty of seating, it was easy to find an open table to work remote on a weekday afternoon but I could see it getting a lot busier in the morning or on weekends. Nowadays you can find really good coffee in many coffee shops around. This is one of those places. The ambiance is very nice; the place looks clean and modern... BUT waiting in line for 30 min to get a coffee is not worth it. Not sure if the place is understaffed or if the barista is new, but it sure did look like it. Staff is friendly, but you need more than friendliness to run a coffee shop. Many customers waited a long while and not once did I hear the staff apologize for the wait. I sure didn't. The coffee shop business model is not new and most can deliver a good coffee in half the time I waited here. I give this place a 3 star review mainly for their service. Im sure with better training with the espresso machine this could be a successful business. read more
