Ok good was cooked fresh and tasted good except it was to bland for my taste for I like spicy with sauces! Service was good. Ambiance was very laid back being there were only 3 customers at lunch time? When you see the front you think it's questionable to eat there but once inside it's pretty nice and clean but booths are older with seats taped? Basically it's worth eating there and may just have to ask for more sauce and spices. As for cost I got out with less than a $20 cost with tip! read more

Great food, we ordered the plantains, and queso for apps they were delicious. For our meals i ordered the shrimp tacos on corn tortillas and i love them. My daughter ordered the grilled chicken tostadas came with 2 she said they were good and her fiancé ordered the steak burrito which was huge. The house margarita with good for only $7 and the seasonal apple cider margarita was awesome. We also got the churros for dessert with chocolate and Carmel sauce. All in all i would recommend this place the food coming out looked amazing. You had to wait online to order your food but it was very fast. read more

I was not a fan of their restaurant in Northampton, where I live, but I'm often in Easthampton center. So, with an hour until the bus picked me up and my chores done, I popped in here for a bite and to kill time. Unlike my experience in Northampton, the outlet here prepared my food promptly, well, hot, in a reasonable amount of time, priced reasonably, and unlike the experience of a reviewer below, brought me my food at my table. I've been back several times since. Mid-afternoon the place is quiet and peaceful, it's quite clean, and even when the bar is full of patrons, you can still hear conversation at your own table. I wouldn't give LV top marks -- it's still sorta TexMex fast-foody -- but I'm perfectly content with the value I've gotten here. read more

The main reason for my negative review is not the quality of the food (though that could have been better, too), but the fact that the prices posted on the menu boards are not the prices you are actually charged. For example, I ordered a pork burrito, listed at $10.99, and was charged $13.99 for it. They have a small sign on their counter saying that costs have been rising, and so their prices might be higher than what is listed. WHAT?!?! Prices have been going up everywhere, but this is the only restaurant I know (the one in Northampton does the same thing, so this practice is coming from management) that refuses to change its posted prices to reflect the prices they actually charge you. To me this is false advertising, plain and simple, and I think it is unconscionable not to be transparent about your prices. As for my pork burrito, it was small, dry, and had lumps of pork that were so desiccated and hard they were almost inedible. Definitely not worth $14! I have had nachos before here that were very good (and huge), but if you are looking for a good burrito in the area, Bueno Y Sano is much better - both for quality and prices. read more

Wonderful food but BAD experience as a customer. Ordered takeout from the counter and wasn't given any directions for pick up - ended up waiting ONE HOUR in their dining room for our order because no one came and gave us our food or alerted us that it was ready! When we finally decided to go up and check on the status of our order they pulled it from a shelf far away without an apology or anything. They asked us how long we had been waiting and we told them about 40 mins -- their response was, "oh. You have to come up and ask for your order" ??? Now we have warm lettuce in our food and hot guacamole. Seriously you guys? Come up with a better system. Not only is this extremely disrespectful of customers time, but it ruins the food!! Pretty frickin fantastic taco experience. Huge menu, spacious, welcoming, hip atmosphere. Full bar. Lots of house made hot sauces. Free self serve tap water (tasted amazing) I had the mahi mahi tacos with side of guacamole and rice and beans. The tacos were huge with tons of fried fish and I almost regretted getting rice and beans for the extra $4. The guacamole was very flavorful, quite lemony. The fish was very hearty and meaty, closest thing to chicken I've eaten in a long time as a pescatarian. My co worker had beef tacos and said they were moist and delicious. Impressive. Food was delicious, fresh and priced fairly. The atmosphere was also comfortable and relaxing. Ridiculous and gross experience with zero follow through from staff. I've been going to Vera for seven years, but never again. I bought an order of 12 tamales for an event I had the day after (the tamales are $35). I went home and put the tamales in the fridge. When I took them out the next day, they smelled FOWL and had mold on them. I called and staff told me that they should have unwrapped them and checked them before sending them out. I told them I had twelve tamales wrapped in pairs with shrink wrap. So, no one checked them. They said to throw them out, and they'll refund my card. Days past and no refund. I called again and she said she would call the owner to expedite it. More days, no refund. I call AGAIN, and they said they're so sorry, they will refund immediately. Nope, no refund. At this point, I was really upset. I called and asked for a manager. I hear the worker ask someone else "are you a manager?" And the other worker say "no, but there's no one else". (Nice) She gets on the phone and I explain the whole story again, and she says she will call the owner and call me back. I have called four times, more than a week has passed, no one ever called me back, no refund. I feel scammed and grossed out. read more

Very disappointed in this place. They are extremely poor at running the restaurant. We walked in and ordered two burrito bowls, and waited nearly 20 minutes before going up to ask what the hold up was. The food had been made and was sitting behind the cashier, and when we asked why she hadn't called out our name she had an attitude, telling us it was our fault for not coming up to ask- may I add, this woman took our order and watched us standing 2 ft in front of her waiting, the entire time. She didn't even offer an apology. My husband works in the restaurant industry and I have a lot of leniency when it comes to restaurants and food, especially nowadays when many places are understaffed. However, this was just rude and unnecessary. And expensive! We were not the only ones waiting- one poor guy came in to pick up an order he'd placed over an hour beforehand and they didn't have it ready. Pro tip: pare down your stupidly large menu, prep your food in advance and let people know when their food has been made. Not coming back here. read more

This space is very well done. It's attractive and very functional. It can seat larger or smaller groups. The bar is beautiful, and there is always a group sitting there. The TV's are consolidated there, too, and not out in the rest of the dining area. There's a large sports contingent. I have been to the Northampton La Veracruzana many times. This space is cleaner, larger, and better laid out. The food is better, in my opinion, but I will agree with other reviews that it borders on authentic. It's not BAD food, tho. This place has become a local favorite for my partner and I. We like that we can eat well for a reasonable cost. (Contrary to some previous reviews, the price point here is not that high. Most dishes are under $10. Also, most places do not give you tortillas for free any more. None of the local establishments do that.) They have several really good Salsas available for free at the salsa bar. My favorite is the Chipotle. All of the portions are sizable. The Nachos in particular are ginormous. We always leave full. The staff is friendly and helpful. They take my money and bring me food. (And wash down and clear tables, and empty the bins, and clean up, and pour drinks, and cook the food, and deal with you bad attitude people.) My only knock, so far, is that the Tamale's I had were very salty. Like, unpleasantly so. I will be back, repeatedly... I went in from the bike trail, locked the bikes out front and went for some chow. I think the pulled beef burrito is my favorite thing here, they have a really interesting "zuchini corn chowder" stuff that they served with both a spoon and chips... I didn't know how to eat it so I tried both seems like the spoon got best results, as there is melted farmers(?) cheese at the bottom. I don't know what its called but I'll be getting it again. This review contains two experiences and is long. For background, I am half Salvadoran and I grew up in California having lots of Mexican and Salvadoran food. My Salvadoran grandmother has a Mexican/Salv tamale business in CA. 1. So I came here a couple weeks ago (maybe a week before the AC was put in) with another person and we ordered the House Nachos with chicken, Enchiladas Suizas and Chicken tamales plate (with rice and beans).The House Nachos were flavorful, the chips were not burnt, the toppings were abundant and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My Enchiladas were delicious and the cheese sauce was very good. I tried the tamales of my of dining partner and I was a little underwhelmed and so was he. They were quite dry but the flavor was good. Overall, we really enjoyed this first experience and wanted to come back. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is colorful and chill. 2. I came back today for lunch and ordered the 6 taquitos plate and my dining partner got House Nachos again. The experience was night and day. The nachos were actually visibly BURNT all around the plate. How could you serve something that -looks- burnt! Just remake it! It makes me think there's no quality control and the cooks don't care.The chicken was visibly dry and overcooked. It also tasted of nothing. I also never had taquitos this bad. The chicken was the same as in the nachos. Extremely overcooked and dry, and completely unseasoned. I've never had to use a salt shaker on my taquitos, but today was that day. No juices at all. the outer tortilla shell was very hard to bite into. The guacamole on the side was also flavorless like it had minimal seasoning. I added salt to that too. I ordered horchata as a drink and that was perfectly fine, and honestly the only thing I liked from my meal. I was pretty disappointed today and felt like I wasted my money. I feel like, if there was someone coming to check your table at least once after serving, I could give feedback in a timely manner. I know I could have gone up to the counter to tell them but it is admittedly awkward. On the fence about coming back. Seems to be a consistency issue. read more

Well I've been here a bundle of times. There soup and tongue tacos are amazing!!! Yes I'm a true Mexican Connoisseur! I eat the best. But really my thing is carnitas, if they make them right I'll come back. Or tongue tacos right! I like traditional style baked in lard then crispy fried in the fryer or in the oven. Not sure where Vera got this recipe from but it is not carnitas style they need to change the name to Pork stew, or pork in red sauce. Needless to say I was disappointed. And I got four pieces with four pieces of plantains on it. Um no I don't ask for a plantain dish? I ask for carnitas. I took it to go! Then it had guacamole in the the dish, which made the guacamole warm. That was really weird. Why did they put it in the hot food plate and not separate. Mediocre at best. I've tried it a couple times now to see if the quality has been any different and it's not. The queso isn't queso. It's a big glob of melted cheese, reminds me of pizza cheese. I want queso that is liquid. The quesadillas remind me of tacos, and the chicken is dry, very plain and unappealing. Guac is okay. The one thing I liked was the churros. But the rest I can forget. For authentic High School cafeteria, institutional (as in prison), extremely bland, sorta Mexican, try this place. Everything on the menu tastes like it has been run through a state of the art flavor extractor. Tacos are fresh but absolutely blah. Guacamole tasted like it was straight out of a plastic bag. We had it with chorizo that was as tasty as a boiled Wendy's burger. Chiles releno was like something out of a box, thawed and microwaved, then drowned in sauce. And what a sauce. They must have opened a can of tomato sauce and thought about adding some chipotle or Chile powder. So, did they add it? Nah, why bother. The newest location is so pretty! Have always loved the Amherst spot. Northampton was good too..... Easthampton is spacious with a fun atmosphere and friendly staff. Wound up here because Northampton staff refused to make us a (very simple) item, not currently on the dinner menu. There were only about 7 people in the restaurant at an off peak time so we thought that was pretty odd. We got back in the car and came to Easthampton. No problem here! Thank you for being so accommodating and making some delicious Chilaquiles! (My absolute favorite.) We'll just come here from now on. read more

Overall, not bad. But stay away from any steak choices, because the quality of the steak is awful---fatty, chewy, and tough. Not good. There are better Mexican restaurant choices very close by---El Cotillo in Easthampton (excellent!!) and Bueno y Sano in Northampton (better than excellent!!!)
