Struggling to make a choice on where to eat tonight l left the choice to some one else and ended up here. The restaurant is very nice and looks the part with a mixture of background music playing sadly it was drowned out with a rowdy table of 10 sat right next to us. The main doors are wide open and all you hear is the traffic and siren's of the fire engines passing by, if that was bad enough banging from the bar and chefs working at the pizza oven. For starters I had the calamari with the only tasty item on the plate was the lemon wedge and garlic mayo, my friend had something that you only describe as frozen slices of garlic bread with cheese on top, I'm sure a Kraft cheese slice had a more mature flavour as it just tasted like cheese on toast. The mains l had the sausage and pepperoni pizza that looked as if it came deep within the therma frost freezer, I've never seen a pizza so tight for cheese or even toppings, The only taste l got was salt and lots of it. My friend had the spaghetti bolognaise after l had a taste l could see that this dish had never seen a tomato or even an onion, one word to describe is bland Tesco saver brand would have been more authentic tasting. I feel real sorry for the chef that cooks here to be putting out this sort of food for the price that they charge a little shameful. Hopefully the recession will be over and they can return to the building trade. No staff member came to check on out table to see if the food was ok. I would recommend other places before this one. I doubt that l would ever return.

Not the best service here, so if you're in a hurry forget it. I arrived mid afternoon and it's very noisy, so loud, you're unable to carry on a conversation. There is no candlelit tables but they do have small yellow lights above. I had ordered a coffee royal and it took me several times before he understood what I was saying. I had to remind my waiter about my coffee, another ten minutes I got it. And between the dessert and the coffee OMG I will be back..

I mean.....for what it is, it's ok. I would never suggest we go here, but my parents were in town and we were looking for a cheap meal while out and about in the west end. Not the best selection, but again, like I said, for what it is, it was ok. The place was pretty empty aside from a few tables being taken, but they sat us in the far corner right near the waiters booth, where if we had sat there the whole time, would have gotten bumped in to many times. We asked to be sat somewhere else, so we sat in the middle of the restaurant. The restaurant itself has some weird decor. It's a strange mixture of dark and mysterious and a bit like valentines day threw up in there. There were loads of stuffed teddy bears with red hearts and flowers decorated along the upper part of the restaurant. I think I even mentioned it to the boyfriend and my parents that I could do with a lot less of the valentines day vibe. They quite agreed. The menus have seen better days and were quite dirty and ratty. I kept trying to send the manager messages telepathically to invest in some new menus. So, they have a few menus to choose from, the normal menu and then they have a few tapas style menus where you pick however many items for a set price. We all went for the tapas style menu and were able to choose three items for £6.99. We honestly weren't sure of the quality of food we were going to get at that price. I ordered Arancini Di Manzo which were risotto balls mixed with pork and beef, the lasagna and the side salad. The risotto balls were pretty gross, so I only ate one. They lacked taste and tasted a bit stale if that makes sense. Maybe more like old and pre frozen? The lasagna didn't look very appetising, but it was pretty good. I'm still trying to get used to lasagna with a bechmel sauce. Not something I'm used to having or making on my own. The salad was a salad and it was ok. The boyfriend and my dad both ordered the Spezzatino Con Olive E Peperoni which were vegetables in a tomato sauce. Both said it was pretty tasty, but I didn't try any. My dad ordered a pizza, which he said tasted like a school lunch pizza and he also ordered a salad. The boyfriend ate the Spaghettini Bolognese and the Frittata Con Pepperoni E Pattate, both he really loved. My mom also ordered the lasagne and salad as well as a pizza. She said she enjoyed all her food. On top of all that, we ordered polenta fries which were ok, and calamari which were also just ok. The service was good and our food came out pretty quickly. Aside from the quirky atmosphere, the food was ok and we left more full than we thought we would. Not a place I would usually go, but I wouldn't say no if I was invited back by someone. The prices make it worth it.

We dined here on a Saturday night. Upon arrival, I asked about gluten free options and was told they could do pasta. Nothing on the menu was labeled, so I picked a couple options to ask about but ended up with the fusilli il latino. It was greasy and not very tasty, and I didn't eat much of it. My vegetarian companion had the arancini, which were mediocre, and the veggie pizza, which was good. Upon discovering I hadn't eaten my dish, the waitress asked how it was and I told her I didn't care for it. I wasn't expecting a comp, but at least an offer to make it right would have been appreciated. No luck. Probably won't be back to this one.

Day time tasting menu: risotto balls, pepperoni pizzette and fusilli crema e funghi

I've often walked past La Vita Spuntini and wondered what it was like before heading next door to my default West End Italian choice, Little Italy. In the name of trying new things my friend and I headed in a couple of weeks ago for lunch. I have to say the decision was largely motivated by their lunchtime 'tasting menu', essentially Italian tapas. One of my greatest struggles in life is always finding the answer to that age old question: pizza or pasta? But here I could have both! I ordered a pizzette pepperoni (5" pepperoni pizza), fussili crema e funghi (cream and mushroom pasta) and arancini di manzo (deep fried risotto and pork ragu balls). The pizza was pretty average and the risotto balls a little dry but the pasta was very good. My friend also had the bruschetta which looked very tasty (but there's not point trying to wrestle away any of her food to try!) There was plenty in each portion and while I wasn't able to finish everything I didn't leave so much that it felt like a terrible waste. Staff were polite, helpful and just the right level of attentive. The food was served promptly and drink refills offered at the appropriate opportunities. The price, £6.99 for the tasting menu, was also very reasonable for the amount of food provided. Overall I was quite happy with my visit to La Vita Spuntini. I expect I'll be back again, I'll probably just make different choices from the menu.

    Delivery pizza! (Bolognese sans jalepenos.)
    Rebecca D.

I've never set foot in La Vita Spuntini. Bear with me. This is, right now, my favourite delivery pizza place in Glasgow. So here I'm reviewing the take away food. We order from Spuntini over and over and over again. These days it's almost always the same thing because we've figured out exactly what we want. One 16 inch Bolognese pizza (hold the jalepenos). It's not super fast to get it delivered but it's worth the wait and it never fails to impress. It's a big pizza to share between two and, when we're smart we usually leave a slice or two for the next day. When we're not smart we eat the whole thing in one sitting. Ooops. We have occasionally ordered a few other things. I can vouch for the calamari and the minestrone soup both being pretty good and the Al Monte pizza (pesto, goats cheese and courgette) isn't the kind of thing I'd normally order but I did once order it on a whim and it was actually really good. The San Daniele (parma ham and rocket) is also great. However, a good bolognese pizza is hard to beat, so that remains the firm favourite. Oh, and you can totally order a bottle of wine to be delivered along with your food. What's not to love?

    Risotto balls mmmmm
    Holly M.

A group of friend and i decided upon La Vita Spuntini because we were strapped for cash and looking for somewhere central. Having a tapas menu is great because it allows everyone to pick and pass and so sharing food which can be fun. From what i can remember we ordered: Risotto balls Focaccia Chilli Risotto Calamari Spaghetti Vegetarian Pizza Bruschetta Minestrone Soup and Buffalo Wings All the food was lovely and we were all pretty full up afterwards. However not only were we sitting up the stairs which has no air conditioning and very few fans making it a little uncomfortable to sit in for a long period of time. Hot Hot Hot. Only two people ordered drinks and the rest of us stayed with water because drink prices were expensive and the water is thankfully free. Trying to split a bill with 11 people is not the easiest especially with an additional service charge. Not too bad but would not return if i had to.

    Delicious seafood spaghetti

My friends and I had lunch today. My friend took my there and told me that she want to bring me to an Italian restaurant. I love Italian food and there are so many different kinds of pasta on the menu. Both of us ordered the seafood spaghetti. My friend chose tomato sauce and I chose white sauce. The waitress there was very patient and explain everything for us. I was so happy because our meal didn't take so long. And definitely the food was so delicious! I finally found a good Italian restaurant in Glasgow. Lol. And it is near my school. I will definitely come back!

What a cozy restaurant. I've a walked by so many times, but never stopped. We planned to go to Little Italy after church today, but found out it was closed for renovations. We popped in next door and found this delightful little restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the wait staff's uniforms. They were wearing kilt aprons, which gave a very Scottish twist to this Italian restaurant. The wait staff was very attentive - many of them offering to get us drinks right after we were seated. The menu was very reasonably priced. I ordered a pizza for £5.95 and it was more than I could eat. I took half of it home. My daughter ordered from the kid's menu (£4.95) and the chicken looked great - not your typical children's fare. The fries were big, chunky pieces potatoes, which were really good. She ate the chicken before I could try it, but saved me some fries! This place is a gem for the quality, service, atmosphere and price! I'm so glad we accidentally found it! We'll definitely be back!

You've heard of Spanish tapas And Chinese Dim Sum? Well this place is the same... but Italian! I normally have trouble choosing between pasta or pizza, generally, at Italian restaurants, but this place solved all my problems - I can have a little bit of everything! I'm surprised no one has thought about it before... The food is priced fairly, from about £3.50 for dishes. I had the Amore Pizzette (mini pizza!), bruschetta and the lasagne. This is where I had a slight problem with the place.... The food just seemed a bit bland... it tasted like everything had been made in bulk and then kept warm in a large container - like school dinners or something. Not the nicest of feelings. Maybe on a busy Friday night this is how they make their food, I might try checking it out on a week night to see how it shapes up...

I just loving having a selection of things. I will steal from your plate. And I don't have that big an appetite. So Italian tapas-style food is perfect for me. I think this kind of place would do well in the city centre too - probably a popular choice with shoppers. I got a mini Al Monto pizza, pollo cardianl and a Caesar salad. The prices were, I think, a little on the steep side. I wouldn't mind the prices if the food was just a little better - it all seems a little half-assed - as mentioned previously. The atmosphere is nice though, with swift waiting staff and a good mix of diners.

It's a lot smaller than I expected - there's a seating area at the front which could fit around 20 diners. But the food is out-of-this world good, which is what really matters. I was meeting a friend here and the owner let me sit at a large table of 4 rather than a tiny table for two, which was nice. You can pop along to the shop and buy your booze to bring - wine corkage is £3 and I think beers are £1. As I was driving I was happy with soft drinks anyway, but it's handy to know for future visits. There's pretty standard offerings on the menu - the usual tapas selection you'd expect, plus paella and some larger dishes. The owner himself is from Madrid and we took his guidance when ordering - a paella to share and three tapas between two. We got the seafood paella with prawn, mussels, fish and squid (£8.95), patatas bravas (£4.50), mushrooms sauteed in garlic (£4.95) and goats cheese salad with chili and rocket (£5.25). The food arrived quickly and as it was ready rather than in any order. At first glance it looks pretty standard but the flavour was immense - the mushrooms in garlic were so flavoursome and delicious, and I loved that there was crunchy slices of garlic at the bottom of the dish to add even more flavour. The goats cheese salad was a whole circle of cheese baked in the dish so it was nice and oozy, and a good amount of chili to give it a kick. The paella was the real stand out dish - a massive portion which easily did two people and a nice amount of seafood mixed through it. There was one large prawn in it too which was easy to split up between us, and overall I thought this was a really tasty dish which I'd head back here just to have. The patatas bravas arrived last and while this is a pretty token Spanish dish, I really enjoyed it and the potatoes were the right amount of crispy. There was nothing I could fault about the food here, and with the bill coming in at just over £25 for dinner for two, it was crazy cheap too. The decor is really casual - think more of a cafe than a classy restaurant, and service is relaxed and friendly. They have some really good lunch deals like £6.50 paella sit-in, they also do takeaway and outside catering. Take yourself on an adventure and head here for a meal - it was an absolute delight.

I love Spanish food. Probably more than I love Mexican or Italian. It's my favourite type of cuisine. So we had three tapas, paella and some bread and olive oil to share. We had Ponchos De Ronda which was a kind of chicken breast on a skewer with spicy tomato sauce and chilli. That was wonderful and was grilled to perfection. We also had patatas bravas covered in spicy tomato sauce and albondigas which are meatballs covered on tomato sauce. The tapas were amazing and full of flavour- better than some tapas I've had in Spain. We had the Paella Montaña which had chicken and Chorizo which was flavoursome and tasty- the Chorizo was smoky and very tasty! After food, we had coffee which was excellent. If the owner (who is a bit of a hero, he takes the orders, makes them and then brings them to you whilst simultaneously cooking orders for home deliveries). It was quite quiet, the restaurant is more like a cafe, but that makes it all the more authentic. The bill was reasonable for what was essentially a three course meal for two people. There is no alcohol but you can go to one of the nearby shops and get some wine or beer. Rather than going to La Tasca or Cafe Andaluz, go here.

We'd recently returned from a short break in Malaga and were pining for some Spanish ambience, so I was very pleased to discover Elena's, even more so when we spotted the Paella de Marisco (seafood paella) - I'll be having half of that, yes please! They have a pretty good wine list too, and we soon settled on a nice fragrant Alberino, which was a pefect accompaniment to the seafood. The table was soon very cluttered with dishes, wine cooler and glasses, but we managed. I'm afraid I forgot to take any pictures of the food, it was too yummy not to get stuck in. For dessert, I couldn't resist the chocolate brownie, although I opted for coconut ice cream instead of the lemon. I probably shouldn't have had either given my lactose intolerance, but sometimes you have to be prepared to suffer. It did almost finish me off, it was so chocolatey, but wow, it was worth it. I'm only giving four stars as I thought the service was a little lacklustre in places. They didn't offer to pour or let us taste the wine, didn't provide a finger bowl or any wipes for the sticky fingers, and - more importantly - didn't tell us about the menu specials when we were ordering. We only found out about those when I spotted the specials board on the way out. I don't know if it would have made much difference actually, as we were pretty committed to the paella before we arrived, but it would have been nice to have had the choice. Annnd.... I've just spotted that they have Caipirinhas on the cocktail menu - now I'll definitely have to go back!

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it felts so cramped at our table. He showed us the menu and told us what he'd have. We ended up going for three tapas dishes each for £12.95. We opted for the Bravas, Chorizo, Mussels, Squid, Chicken Wings and Prawn Paella. The food all came out when it was ready, which I like. This gave us a chance to admire each individual dish. The stand outs for me were the Mussels and the Chorizo. The Mussels swam in a rich buttery sauce that could easily be served as soup. The Chorizo was obviously authentic and bursting with flavour, I could have eaten it all day, but my cholesterol would have been through the roof. The place was quiet but it still had a good atmosphere, the waiter sat us next to the window and we were bathed in the rarely seen Glasgow sun for the whole meal - it was a really nice experience overall. I force myself to order some dishes I haven't tried before - it's so easy to stick with the ones I have tried and I LOVE - and each time I discover another mouth watering dish. One of my new favourites is the pork cheek, melt in the mouth, jam packed full of flavour and so moreish. Added to some regular favourites such as the spicy prawns, paella, patatas bravas and their delicious salad dishes and you get a wonderfully varied meal. My top tip is to order a basket of bread for the table, the sauces and oils that accompany the dishes are divine and I love mopping them up with a chunk of soft fluffy bread. It's great going to Cubatas in a big group, with people who are happy sharing. My ideal would be to go and order one of everything off the menu, heaven :) These guys also do gift vouchers, I know as I bought my mum and dad some for Christmas. We've taken them for dinner here a few times and they love it!

Prawns in garlic, fajitas, A pork dish, chicken with a batter and colorful sauce, meatballs and a massive paella, I'm sure there has been a few dishes I've missed. Feeling full yet? A tapas of deserts oh my goodness. A baileys cheese cake, check! Creme brûlée....check something that tastes of butterscotch. Tiramisu ooofffft! Some other spongy thing and a walnut cake. It wasn't until I read the reviews on Yelp that I realised what I'd been missing, so we booked a table and made a special trip down there for lunch today. First impressions - we were the only people there and the chef came out of the kitchen to meet us, which didn't bode well I thought. The decor is unassuming and definitely a 'work in progress', but it is clear that they have already put a great deal of effort into getting the place functioning. The bar is near the entrance and there's a line of tables along the window wall, with a larger central area that looks like it could double as a dance floor, and finally there's a stage area at the far end. It all looks delightfully 'hand-knitted' and I loved it immediately. Once the owner returned from upstairs and realised that we were his booking, things picked up. In short order some music was played, menus appeared, and soon we were tucking in to the first of our tapas. As neither of us are carnivores, we picked fishy choices, olives, tortilla, and some papas arrugadas. The boquerones (anchovies) and olives were the first to arrive, and we both wolfed them down like the ravenous dogs we were. Delicious. Then came the tortilla and papas arrugadas. The tortilla is definitely something special, and I wished I'd ordered two portions, it was so tasty. The papas arrugadas turned out to be baby new potatoes with a separate dish of pepper sauce and another of coriander sauce. A fantastic combination of tastes, and the pepper sauce was just right - not too hot at all. Finally, the boquerones frito (whitebait) and the calamares a la romana appeared. The menu jokingly describes the whitebait as 'fishchips', but actually that's a great description of them. They're crispy and full of flavour - yum! I'm not generally a great fan of tapas as a primary meal choice, as I always feel that they're more of an appetizer option whilst sitting at the bar with a drink; but I might be won over by this place. The portions aren't huge, but with the 3 for £9 special offer, it's pretty good value. I will definitely return when the place is a bit more lively and they have some entertainment on. They may not be in a prime location, but it's definitely worth making the pilgrimage to this place. But let's not tell everyone about it - we don't want it to become too popular. Let's just keep it between ourselves, OK?

There is a good entertainment programme here including salsa and tango classes so get your glad rags on and come down and dance.

The place was empty, but we certainly don't mind having the place to ourselves so early in the evening. We got a good seat by the windows. The menu was extensive and the waiter showed us which tapas were included in the 3 for £9.50 promotion. We ordered the sangria, which was delightful, and the waiter brought some bread slices and dip. I didn't care for the dip - as one reviewer said it's vinegar-based and was too strong for my preference. Our tapas were good! We shared 3 plates and both left full. The sangrias probably helped with that full feeling! The staff was attentive and we had a wonderful evening. We'll likely go back.

It was a Sunday, the 3 for £9.50 offer was calling. I'd heard a number of mixed reviews of this…read moreplace, but decided it was worth a gamble. The decor is weird, I've no idea what Spanish style books they'd consulted, but it was nothing like anywhere I'd ever seen in Spain. There are some nice individual touches, the belts holding the cushions, the pink adobo walls, but there doesn't seem to be a cohesive theme.. When I arrived it was just a little before 7 on a sunny evening, but tellingly there was only one person in the restaurant. The staff at first seemed disinterested, but seemed to perk up after a while. After ordering a glass of the house white, which was good, I looked over the menu and saw a lot of familiar dishes. I was a little bothered by the inclusion of houmous on the menu, it's not Spanish, not Moorish, not needed. Anyway I went for 2 of my Spanish favourites, goat's cheese, aubergine fritters & rolled the dice on the third choice of pan Catalan. The cheese was served on top of caramelised onions & was garnished with (a lot of) rocket. The cheese was soft, both in texture and taste, just the way it should be, but the onions were really tangy (sauce?) & the taste was strong, especially when served with the rocket. The aubergine fritters were crunchy & a bit overcooked. They weren't served dressed with honey, instead I got a comically large pot of honey set on the table to spoon it on myself. I honestly felt a little like Winnie the Pooh & was tempted to just stick my whole hand in. The pan Catalan was really just two slices of cut french loaf with tomato paste & little garlic chunks. I'd give the experience two, two and a half stars, but I enjoyed the wine, the staff warmed up by the end and I have to give the place the benefit of the doubt / food snob bonus points. I think I'd be happy to sit in with a glass of wine or a bottle (or ten) of Cruzcampo (yaaaas!) if not go back for the food. One of the benefits of it being quiet is that you could go in for a glass of wine & a chat (or read) without it getting too loud.

Let's start from the beggining, the restaurant deco is similar to my favourite restaurants in Madrid, modern, a little dark at night and full of typical products (cheese, wine, garlic, ham's leg). We were invited to wait at the bar to wait for a better table , and a super nice Spanish guy gave us recommendations about the wine and the ham. Just 5 minutes later we had our table ready. We ordered a verdejo wine, d.o rueda, a porron pot. As starter we ordered the Presa de lomo iberico and bread with olive oil. All of them was amaZing, the wine was perfect and the lomo was super tasty!! After that we ordered the tapas, difficult choice! The selection was: black rice with alioli, aubergine with honey, chorizo lolipops with alioli and ham croquetas. I can't say which one was the best, absolutely incredible, but the croquetas was same as the best in Spain!! Even the rice... To be honest it was like beign in Spain! Furthermore the Staff invited us to try the 3 hams selections and cheese with mojama. No words!! After that for sure it was dessert time: tarta de la abuela (chocolate, crumble...) another 5* The staff and service was excellent as well. To be honest, and not because I'm Spanish is the best restaurant I've tried in Glasgow! And the price was only £52 !!!! I want to go every single month!!!!!!!!

The menu is not that extensive but it has a reasonable variety of dishes to cater for most tastes. I had the calamari to start followed by the day fish special. Both tasted fine, but lacked pizzazz in the presentation department. In general, I thought the food was OK but not particularly outstanding; there are better Italian restaurants around. This place is family run and prides itself on that friendly atmosphere, so the service is cheery if rather laid back. I know we were waiting on other folk arriving, but we sat there for 45 minutes without anyone offering us so much as a glass of water. A wee aperitif would not have gone amiss.

It's tucked along Woodside Terrace and you'd be best off checking the map on Yelp before you head there, lest you head to completely the wrong place. No bother though, we found it eventually! It's a basement restaurant but it has a large windows at either end so it's not dark and dim like you might expect. I really like the decor - to me, it was like stepping back in time but in a tasteful, charming way. There's loads of photos all over the walls and you can tell it's had a lot of love put into it. I had a glass of rosé while looking over the menu which was really tasty - so tasty that I couldn't resist a second small glass with my main. For starters I had the caprese salad which was served with a whopping chunk of buffalo mozzarella. Everything was so fresh, light and tasty that it was totally perfect in its simplicity. I loved the generous slices of whopping huge tomato and even though the mozzarella was massive, it was a refreshing starter. For main I had the veal milanese with pasta. About 3 years ago (possibly more), Graeme had this dish at an Italian restaurant and I've had food envy ever since. I never forget food envy. Mine was served with penne napolitana but you could opt for a spicier spaghetti if you wanted. The veal was delicious, soft and buttery and the pasta was heavenly. I got a very generous dusting of parmesan (the way I like it). I did struggle to finish mine though (I had to save room for dessert). The tiramisu was wonderful, soft, fluffy, boozy and the lovely richness of coffee. I couldn't finish my portion but they happily put it in a ramekin for me to take home - so lovely. The bill was pretty pricey - around £40 per person, but then that was for a 3 course meal with drinks so it's actually not too bad. My favourite thing about here (apart from the food) was definitely the service. The staff are so lovely and welcoming that you really do feel like you're part of their family. Nothing was too much trouble or difficult for them, and we got really mouthwatering descriptions of the menu from the Don himself. He would pop out from the kitchen every now and then to see how we were doing, and made sure he came by to say goodbye as he had to be up early for the fishmarket in the morning. A charming hidden gem in Woodlands - I can't wait to return.
