Just a bit of the unique scenery here at Le Vouivre (The Wyvern).

I was fortunate enough to have an extra day in Geneva before the conference I traveled here for began. Because life is already busy enough, I opted for a low-key day of strolling about the city, exploring, and just trying to take everything in from the perspective a local. Enter La Vouivre. From the picture I posted, as well as the others already on its page, you can tell it has flair. I should've documented more than some chairs and mirrors, but the muffin (and subsequent pastry) I ordered were gone so fast, not even your high-end Nikon D4S could've captured it. Coffee was tasty and just what a guy whose internal clock was still on D.C. time needed. Not one chair in the place matched another, with all sorts of dining chairs, church pews, and comfy stuffed living room chairs allowing guests to sit back and relax or huddle attentively around a table to discuss business. Conversations in English (British and American and broken), French, and German were ongoing as friends enjoyed one another's company, colleagues got caught up, and couples shared a sweet treat to start their day!

I like this place for the un matching old world seating and decor. My coffee was pretty good and they have the standard case of pastries plus a few different things like a green tea sable cookie....The classical music plays..A bit too loudly in the AM for me but I guess it's a nice touch.

Casual, you pick a plate and try to choose something out of the whole tasty display. You usually end up crowding up your plate. For my first time at Chez Gautier, a gem right off Geneva railstation, my friend Stephanie, a regular, recommended the home made soup. Ordered a zucchinis and leek soup that came with bread bites. Nice, natural and tasty soup that wasn't too salty, nor too rich. I paired mine up with a nuts bun sandwich with gruyère and the Swiss dried beef, a thinner, tastier and healthier version of the US beef jerky. We both went for a sweet touch with a nut scone that turned out to be a little more of a biscotti and I had the meringue tangerine tart. Delicious! I would highly recommend Chez Quartier, a gem in the heart of Geneva where the service is nice and polite, you get tasty food for fair prices.

L'Oranger - Geneva, 4.38pm. The urge to head to the pool is starting to be palpable in the offices. At L'Oranger, come and have a refreshing cocktail.

This is definitely not a place for large groups. Only one table is large enough to seat 5 people comfortably. I love how the owners have made this small space seem larger and brighter with the great use of light and mirrors. You are also welcomed by the mouth watering pastries in a large glass case. Even though we didn't have reservations we were in welcomed with smiles, and shown to a table, it was my lucky day! The menu changes each day, and you can choose from a plat du jour, salads, other cooked lunch dishes, or sandwiches highlighted on the other side. They also have a open wine to purchase by the glass highlighted on the menu. TIP: A carafe of tap water costs 2CHF. We took the plat du jour for only 19 CHF and it was served with a basket of delicious bread. The portions were quite large and definitely fill you up for the rest of the day. The plat du jour was a turkey pasta w/ basilic lemon sauce. It was the first time I had turkey in a pasta, yet it was perfection! Everything was fresh and juicy and melted in my mouth. YUMMY! We couldn't exit without trying a pastry. We tried the tarte tatin. One of the best I have had! I will definitely be back here again for a visit. Plus, I still have to try their homemade hot chocolate which they were highlighting!!
