I totally agree w/ the many reviews about how rude the staff is at the 5th Ave. location in Brooklyn. Most people arrive without coffee or food in their system. I felt I was doing everything wrong no matter what I did or said. I felt attacked for asking anything. I couldn't produce enough urine for a specimen and found myself shaking and close to tears. I arrived a few minutes early for a 12:45 appointment and there were a few people waiting (including a gentleman who also had an appointment at 12 and still hadn't been seen by anyone cause they were hiding in the back!) The location was convenient for me and I found street parking immediately which is rare in this area. The receptionist was very rude and had no patience with the people who didn't understand the Kiosk check-in commands. If you don't like dealing with people who speak different languages and who come from different countries (may not fully understand) you should probably get a job in a city other than NYC. Attention please, this place is the worst place you can ever do or trust. Many incorrect results, lack of punctuality, poor customer service that is not helpful at all, and unprofessional staff inside the labs. I had my credit card stolen after I signed a paper stating that they would only take fifty dollars from my bank account if my insurance did not cover the tests. I signed the paper that said they had the authority and right to access my account, which was a huge mistake on my part to allow them to take my credit card. Two transactions were withdrawn from my account, the first amounting to $700 and the second transaction amounting to $900 to an anonymous account called Ria. This happened after they were granted access to my card and I did not use the card anywhere after I signed this paper. Eventually I called my bank and everything was returned. I advise everyone to stay away from this place if you fear for your health. read more

This place has its ups and downs, but what made me change my mind on this place, toward the positive, was my experience today. I had to go in for a 3 hour glucose tolerance test, which is a pretty intense testing experience. An hour in, I thought I was going to throw up and pass out. Noticing my clear discomfort, the wonderful ladies who were working had me in a comfy recliner in no time, letting me nap until it was time to take my blood again. Pro: Their phlebotomists are the best; they never bruise my arm. Con: Long waits, especially in the afternoon; try to come in the early morning. There is no full time receptionist at the front desk, so the phlebotomists have to also be receptionists. A full time office manager/receptionist could make this facility run more smoothly. A larger waiting room with more comfortable chairs would also help. read more

Still painfully slow. I've been sitting here in a mostly empty waiting room for ~30 minutes and they have yet to take the orders. I loathe coming here. Honestly next time I think I'll stay on the train and go to a location in Manhattan. I guess it's all about timing. I had a blood test order from my ENT and decided to try walking in here. There were about 15 people in the waiting room and the receptionist said the wait would be around 30 minutes. Based on the reviews I read I figured it wold be a lot longer. I opted to go on-line and make an appointment for the next morning at 10:30. I arrived at 10:27 and was completely done by 10;45, including all paperwork, insurance card copying, and co-payments. The woman who took care of me did the paperwork and was also the phlebotomist who took my blood. Painless and efficient all around. I was very satisifed. read more

I arrived, paperwork in hand, hoping to get in and out quickly. There were two people in the waiting room; so far, so good. No receptionist at the desk so I waited. And waited. And waited. Fifteen minutes later, a man appeared and very rudely asked if I had an appointment and then chided me for not signing in. The thing is, there was no sign in sheet. So after another 5 minutes of him grubeling through papers to find one, I signed in and waited. Mercifully, a young woman appeared and quickly took my ID and paperwork. It was then not long until the deed was done. I'm not the most demanding of customers. I know that we all have bad days and lab work can get tedious. On top of that, no one loves having to drudge in for pre-employment drug screens. In the end, this place is simply understaffed and overworked. Came in for a 9:30a appointment, arrived early at 9:15a. Straight to the receptionist window and was greeted by Janelle H. Filled out a form and already in the back room getting the test done. Janelle is wonderful, super quick, and amicable. For example, she let me know to gather my things while she's prepping some forms to sign so I can leave quicker. In the end, signed a few things and out the door with a confirmation sheet. Janelle is extremely efficient and friendly, helping me get in and out in under 15 mins. (much better experience than the Jay St. Labcorp branch) **Note**: this office is hidden on the 2nd floor of the building. Head inside and straight up the steps (or take the lift) up to 2nd floor. You'll see a toy store entrance, go the left of that to turn a corner on your right and there's the office entrance. read more

Terrible place! Do not go here under any circumstances. It's an old office, it looks dirty. Stained walls. That's not even the biggest issue - there is really unfriendly, unprofessional, unsympathetic woman that works here. I brought in 15 month old daughter and she was rough with her, spent 5 min digging under her arm with a needle trying to draw blood. My daughter was visibly uncomfortable and she trudged on like a freight train without any regard for the child's feelings. While she is doing this she keeps complaining about how hot she is. She only wore one latex glove while doing this. It was such an unpleasant, gut churning experience. read more

I had a bad experience at this Labcorp several weeks ago. Lab tech ended up not drawing all the bloodwork I needed and poured two tubes together to make one as she hadn't drawn the correct ones. I have since learned that actually invalidates the test result. I now have to go elsewhere and get the whole thing redone. read more

This place is filthy dirty, dingy and depressing. The staff I encountered were rude, incompetent and unhelpful. They did not have my permanent, long standing blood test order in their computer and ignored me when I informed them that my physician had filed the appropriate paperwork with their GIANT nationwide lab system and that certainly despite never having used this facility, my information should be in their computer (my usual LabCorp location -- also not a walk in the park BTW on Livingston Street was closed due to a flood -- I was redirected to the 456 5th Ave location). The woman at the front counter muttered to her co worker "he be arguing with me, you gonna have to deal with him, cuz I isn't". REALLY? I'm a patient in a medical lab facility and her job is to engage politely with their patrons, right? A call to my physician confirmed the order was indeed in their system -- they just couldn't locate it! By the time I was able to confirm the order, the lab was turning off the lights and locking the place up. I was there for over an hour, spent $2 feeding the parking meter and NEVER got my blood test done. I will inform my cardiologist to stop referring their patients to this disgusting unsanitary place. Read all the reviews here. You'll see a common theme: RUDE, FILTHY, INCOMPETENT. So incredibly rude. I came in for a pre-employment drug test, and while I was in and out fairly quickly, the place was dingy and depressing, and the employees couldn't talk to me like I was a person. I had to visit this site a number of times over the last month. First, the center closes at 3:30 which is inconvenient, although it does open at 7:00 if you can go before work. Second, twice my samples were left in a room with no identification whatsoever, which is more likely when an order is faxed over and they take the form out of the identification bag. This could lead to mixups. More seriously, they wouldn't allow me to use their restroom to provide the sample which meant that I could not provide it without coming back after I started medication, and probably explains why none of the tests had a positive finding, which impacted my course of treatment. (When people are ill, it doesn't help to make them take two trips for every test.) I did find Pearl to be helpful and she was good at finding a vein for the blood test, They have also improved waiting times. read more

Wow, this place does NOT inspire confidence! Located above a pharmacy and next to a toy shop, you are guided to the office by an "Ironman" poster. Tucked away and tiny, the waiting room is ugly and depressing. I only went there because UnitedHealthCare lists them as their preferred lab. Big surprise. The pros are that the wait was very short and the nurse was very sweet--no hassles. Hours are 7-3:30. And they close at 3:30 SHARP so get there before your scheduled appointment. read more

The receptionist was INCREDIBLY rude (She's the short chubby girl with long brown hair). I had some valid questions since it was my first time at this location and every response was filled with attitude. I know this place is depressing but WTF. Of course she also ended up being the one taking my blood. As I was leaving, I had one more question and had politely asked the receptionist - she pretended I wasn't even there. I had to ask again louder and again no response. It wasn't until another person saw me and answer my question did she look up from doing NOTHING. Had an appointment for 2pm on a Wednesday. When I got there the tiny, windowless waiting room was packed wall to wall. There was even a guy sitting on the floor in the hallway which should have been my first red flag. Nightmare DMV vibes, totally quiet save a TV blasting news about the Zika virus, candy wrappers on the floor. Add that to the hot temperature and gross hallway they share with a toy store (complete with fake monkeys in cages-- sounds fun, i know, i almost stayed just for the story) and you get a pretty unsanitary vibe for a medical lab. They immediately told me they were running behind and couldn't see me at 2pm. I hung out for a while but the idea of sitting in that hot room filled with sick and sleeping people only to be met with a tired / busy / overworked tech was a no go. rude rude rude! not professional and not knowledgeable. first of all, they didnt want to provide me with a copy of my results. according to the hippa law an original belongs to a patient and a copy to the healthcare facility. Secondly, they wanted to charge me a copay which i dont have for the lab work, she said they will bill me anyway if i dont pay. and lastly ,they didnt take proper care of me when i almost blacked out after they drew an 8th tube of blood, continued drawing like nothing happened. she could at least have told me to drink water or if i had a snack. the whole attitude and demeanor is disgusting towards their clients. read more

The location of this lab is disturbing. It is located almost within a halloween costume shop. Directional signs to the lab are surrounded by skull bones and devil costumes. The door to the lab is a few feet from all of this. There is no ventilation in the small waiting room, so if someone is sick, there is increased possibility of that illness spreading. The technician was very nice to me. But, the place is not clean and tubes of blood are left unidentified. My blood was taken. I learned later from my doctor that my vein had been punctured through to the other side. The swelling and bruise covered literally half of my arm. That had never happened to me before. Labcorp should be ashamed to be the provider. read more
