CDL laboratories called me back over the phone and told me the tests were actually NEGATIVE, to add insult they told me they would have to rerun the HIV test by outsourcing it. At this point I had taken the one dose antibiotic for chlamydia and had already informed other partners who took the medication too due to high risk factor. Westmount Square Medical then called me to tell me even the HIV test had been botched and fought with me over my request for a refund (I was out $230.00 at this point). They did not return my phone calls, had to leave several nasty voicemails before a supervisor called me back only to play more phone tag. I still have no idea what happened, no answers have been given yet (almost 3 weeks later), no clue if I'm HIV positive or not and only a partial refund has been rewarded. Had to go to CLSC to be completely retested. No one was overly apologetic (I seemed to be annoying them, they kept passing blame) and my cell phone bill/work time lost/embarrassment has been exponential. Do yourself a favor AVOID THIS NIGHTMARE, avoid Westmount Square Medical and CDL Labs.

Prices are med-high compared to other medical imaging comics, probably because of their downtown location. Unfortunately the surgeries (19 and 20 years ago) on my index fingers left both digits locked in a flexed position throughout all that time. I asked a plastic surgeon if he could straighten these fingers since I am a guitar player. He cautioned me that it would result in me not being able to bend them again... so my guitar playing days would surely be over. Time to think out of the box!! Dr. Yves Benabu used ultrasound to pinpoint exactly where the tendons of these digits were being trapped, and under a local anesthetic, to guide him in detaching the lesions. He then instructed me to wear a finger splint for a couple of weeks and to do extension and flexion stretches (which I still continue to do today). They did the scan and completely ignored the foreign body lodged at the back of my head and reported that everything was normal. The report was inaccurate so I went back for a reexamination and they first told me that I'd be charged an additional 250$(which was no problem) then a few days later they refused to do a reexamination then lied and told me that they did. The manager told me that this thing is normal then told me that I drew it on then contradicted himself saying that he's not a radiologist and neither am I. I can literally feel this thing in my head so I'm sure that I do not need to be a radiologist to identify an foreign object on my scan. I've sent the images to a radiologists in LA and he said that they did not read the MRI properly and that they should have reported it. Incompetent, unprofessional and deceptive behaviour.

I decided to share finally in case I'm not alone. In Mid 2019 I had a crisis and was rushed to St-Mary's in an ambulance. I'd been bleeding for almost a month and that morning I woke up with the worst pain of my life. I attempted to walk it off, but I collapse and was told that by the time the ambulance arrived there was blood everywhere. I was treated with respect and care in the ambulance. They calmed me down and off to the hospital we went. Once we arrived at St-Mary's, the first nurse I saw kept asking me if I had had an abortion. I told her no, and the fact that I wasn't sexually active yet. She kept insisting on it. At that point however, I couldn't talk much because I was writhing in pain. She took some blood and send me to the waiting area. Once girl from the ambulance came to me later with a blanket to cover myself and pads and told me to hang in there. About 3-4 hours later, I was sent to a consultation room and waited another 30-40 minutes to finally see a doctor. He came in looking at his chats or whatever, asked me if I was still in pain, I told him it was better than before. I tried to tell him my medical history, about the past 30 days. He just cut me off and told me that since I wasn't in pain anymore [they gave me pain killers] to just go home and come back if I am in pain again. Mind you I was still in pain. I told him as much. I also asked what was wrong with me. About the blood work. He walked to the door still checking his clipboard and said just come back if your are in pain again and left. I had no idea what to do. I came to this country on my own not too long ago. I don't really understand how hospitals work here. I had to go to a private clinic and pay over $700 to see a doctor for a diagnosis. I was ignored. My pain was doubted. There were no tests done to find out what was wrong. I was harassed by a nurse about an abortion even though I told her I hadn't had one. I see many people go to hospitals and come back with answers or At least guidance on their conditions. None of this was afforded me. Not even basic human decency. I didn't even get a face to face with the doctor! I remember the top of his head though. I'd be careful going to institutions that treat people this way.

I'm not sure how one accurately rates a hospital because there are so many areas of service and…read morenumerous staff. I would say that I have primarily been satisfied as a patient at St. Mary's. I laboured and gave birth there 2 months ago and the staff in the birthing center were wonderful: gentle, reassuring, and knowledgeable. Of course staying several nights wasn't particularly pleasant for me, especially when sleep deprived, but I could tell the nurses enjoyed working in that unit. I was offered plenty of support and never felt ignored. My family doctors and experiences with Cardiology, ultrasounds, and blood lab have all been positive (as much as they can be). However, there are certain staff who I've found to be less attentive, have an attitude, and generally seem apathetic. If I were an older patient or one with reduced mobility/disabled, I may not want to have surgery there based on my observation of family members treated there in the past. Certain floors seem to lack staff and resources to adequately care for patients.
