My wife and I got married at Lacuna Lofts and had a stellar experience. The staff was super friendly and thorough, it's a gorgeous space, and the rooftop provided an amazing backdrop for our special day. Our guests LOVED the food provided by the on site catering team and they handled allergy restrictions super well (our entire wedding was gluten free beyond bread baskets provided on tables). Cocktails were hit or miss. Anything stirred turned out well but anything normally shaken (margarita, etc) our guests said they'd pass on next time. We loved Lacuna so so much, it made our wedding so special! All our guests could not stop talking about how much they loved it and how cool/beautiful it is! We had 180 guests but you can definitely fit way more people on the rooftop and the reception area! The rooftop was perfect for the ceremony and cocktail hour, especially with the amazing view of the city skyline. We had our reception in the Reverie and it was amazing! Perfect layout and space. Lacuna Lofts is an excellent venue for special events or occasions such as weddings. The lofts are also incredible from what I have heard from people. My cousin has his wedding ceremony and reception here, and it was amazing! The rooftop view of Chicago is breathtaking on a gorgeous day. The ceremony was on the rooftop and was beautiful. We then moved downstairs to the reception area and the room was decorated very nicely. The reception space was very eclectic and modern, but was very attractive looking. The staff were very helpful and professional. The food was excellent and tasted delicious! This is definitely not your ordinary event space, but it is very nice for weddings or special events. I do not live in Chicago, but if I did, I would recommend Lacuna Lofts for weddings because their event space is incredible. Have attended several events at Lacuna artist lofts. It's a very interesting place and Eclectic in style & Decor. There are several floors and each one is decorated differently. I strongly suggest it if you get the chance make sure you explore all the different levels. It's an old Warehouse building and they combine the old with the new and somehow it really, really works. Art abounds in this place, it is an artist Paradise as well as s photographers dream. It's beautiful and it's only right, and truly a place that has to be seen to be appreciated. There are a lot of wedding receptions held here as well as special events. They have their own catering service, but they can accommodate you if you want something special. The food is excellent, as well as the many choices that are available. My biggest regret is that I did not check out the rooftop space. I have heard that it is absolutely gorgeous and not to be missed. Can't wait for the next event to be held here so I can go check it out and enjoy the view. read more

I've been here for a few work events and this place is SO COOL. The space is so large (multi-level) and so versatile (weddings, corporate events, kids events, work spaces, offices for lease, etc.). Coming here, you'll find new art every single time. Between the installations, paintings, sculptures, art in bathrooms, it truly does not end. This place is perfect for pictures; instagram, professional photos, photo shoots, etc. There is fun stuff like YEEZUS lights and also inspiration quotes. The only thing that is a bit over whelming about this place is the floor plan. You can EASILY get lost in it, so just be careful and vigilant when walking around to make sure you remember pathways to exits and the bathroom. read more

Lacuna is where the now-wife and I tied the knot, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect location. First though, a word of caution - Lacuna's changed management in the past couple of years, so while I had friends who had gotten married here before, it's a bit different now. The main change is you have to use LM catering for the food. Fortunately, their food is excellent, and there's some leeway if you want to bring in late night bites like we did. Also, the price has gone up, as things do. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but that's kind of how weddings go, especially when it gets you access to the beautiful rooftop. From the rooftop you get a spectacular view of downtown Chicago, and with their setup you can have your ceremony up there and cocktail hour. Their party rooms also have tons of character. This might not be the place for you if you like traditional or rustic, but we loved the urban feel and artwork put up everywhere. Mary was our planner for the venue, and while she understandably was pretty busy, as our day got approached she worked closely with us to make sure everything was covered. There were pretty much zero loose ends on the big day, which is important as weddings are a little stressful. My only recommendation would be to walk around the building a bit and get to know where the entrances, elevators, stairwells and bridal room are. It can be a bit of a maze inside and I may have gotten a little nervous trying to track down lost groomsmen. Other than that, your wedding is what you make it, and Lacuna is a great base to start from. Just remember to book ASAP - our first choice for a date was already gone a year and a half early. read more

Just celebrated a wedding last weekend and it was perfect in so many ways. We had the roof top from 3- 5pm and then the 5th floor party room until 11pm. 166 guests. Prior to the big day, I was concerned that the 5th floor room might be tight and warm, but the cozy atmosphere really helped with the cohesion and kept everyone in touch and dancing (to the DJ). As for the A/c concern, it was an 83 degree day and the room was perfectly comfortable. The staff worked super hard and were smart on how they did their work. So many of our guests said that they would be exploring this place for their future weddings! read more

I cannot rave enough how much we love this place! The husband and I held our reception and ceremony here just a few weeks ago. BEAUTIFUL!! We really wanted a venue that said us. We wanted to avoid hotels, banquet halls and pretty much anything that screamed rustic or basic. After poking around Yelp and Weddingbee we came across Lacuna. The space is just gorgeous and huge! We loved all of the art work and murals. Also the Reverie Gallery was big enough for a large dance floor. One of priorities was finding a place with a large dance floor. What can we say we just wanted to party! Once we started touring the venue we knew this was the place. They showed us the roof top and we were just sold! The rooftop is just gorgeous. I mean like jaw dropping gorgeous! The nice thing about Lacuna is that there is only 1 caterer, LM Events, who is allowed to cater. Once you start wedding planning you truly appreciate having one less thing to research and schedule. Several of our family members and friends really didn't know what to expect with our wedding cause from the outside the venue. The area is pretty much warehouses around it. All of them were blown away once they came for the rehearsal and the ceremony. We received so many compliments from friends and family on how much they love the venue. The venue has so much character that there really isn't a need to invest in heavy decor or flowers. The food was outstanding! Yes, every couple thinks their wedding catering is always amazing. We kept receiving compliments on the food even from the pickiest eaters we know. We did the grilled hanger steak and sous vide salmon both were a hit. Our guests loved the food! Even my grandfather who is a super picky eater was asking for a second plate of steak. The appetizers were on point with foie gras, scallop mouse and seared ahi tuna. Needless to say our guests still all tell us it was the best meal they ever had at a wedding. Hell even our photographers even stayed later than contracted cause the food was that great. Honestly, Lacuna was perfect for us. The venue has a great urban, quirky and chill vibe that is great for the non-cookie cutter couple. The space has so many opportunities for photos. Lacuna lofts has a little bit of everything and a a lot of Chicago history all in one building. A lot of iconic people worked out of Hebru Brantley to Andrew barber of fakeshoredrive to Ryan Henry from Vh1 black ink. The building has dope art and neons everywhere. They have salons tattoo shops clothing brands to even a music studio in the same building. It's great for weddings or events as well I been to a shoe convention inside to a craft beer festival outside in the parking lot. Only thing missing is a restaurant in the building other then that it petty much has everything in this building. Lacuna - Speaking at a seminar - Venues & Event Spaces Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The venue, catering, and catering staff were fantastic. But I had some major issues that really brought down my opinion of Lacuna after my wedding in November. When we signed our contract in 2019, ample parking was included. During a final visit we planned 4 months before our wedding, we were shocked to find that the lot was now pay only and required an app to get in. We were not told by our coordinator and due to the lack of notice, we were unable to include information with our invitations to our 200+ guests. When we asked about it, we were told that we would get 15 complimentary spots for our vendors. During that same final meeting, we were asked by our coordinator what should be done with our (small) cutting cake. I specifically asked that the cake be packed up and given to us when we went to pick up our decorations after. When I went to get everything, the cake was not there and the employee was very unhelpful and even tried to give me other people's things. I emailed the coordinator about the cake and she never responded, despite us having an ongoing conversation at the time. Additionally, I have received multiple comments from immediate family members that the coordinator was rude and unhelpful the day of. We had our ceremony and reception on the first floor which was lovely, but the bridal suite was on the fourth floor. As the building has many businesses and had 3 other weddings going on at the time, we had to keep the suite locked. This meant that my now MIL had to spend the night running up and down stairs to open and close the door for people. It was just a hassle. Beyond this, it was a wonderful day and the venue was beautiful and the food delicious. I'm still just upset about my wedding cake. read more

We hosted our wedding reception in the La Galleria space at Lacuna lofts in April 2022. If you're looking for a funky urban loft to host your wedding, Lacuna is first class, and their staff has the chops to back it up. Our events coordinator, Macrina, was a standout. She actually filled in after our original coordinator left the company, and transitioned us seamlessly. Throughout the planning process, she went the extra mile time and time again to make sure we had the best experience possible. Even if you don't get the pleasure of working with Macrina, the venue is a hidden gem. Our guests got a huge kick out of all the murals and art installations scattered throughout! People rave about the rooftop and rightly so, but it was also great having the flexibility to convert our first-floor cocktail hour into an outdoor shindig as our wedding day had unexpectedly good weather. (A Chicago first!) The La Galleria space, where we hosted our reception, was the perfect size for our 150-person party and the skyline views were stunning. The bar staff was able to accommodate our BYOB wedding with practically no lines for drinks. The food, catered in-house by LM, got rave reviews from guests. I could go on, but those were the details most crucial to us, and Lacuna got them just right. For couples looking for a beautiful space and really incredible team of people to help shepherd them through their wedding day, I can't recommend this special spot enough! read more

We had our wedding at Lacuna February 10, 2018, and we cannot say enough wonderful things about the space and staff. Lorraine was our event coordinator and she went above and beyond to make sure that all of our needs were met, and our big day would be perfect. She is professional, responsive, detailed, very kind, and overall an amazing person to work with. Lorraine understood our vision for the wedding and made it happen! Thank you so much, Lorraine! Lacuna works exclusively with LM Catering so they took care of all the food, which was FANTASTIC! We had 3 passed apps, 2 stations, and a sweets table. Our guests loved the food, even weeks later we were still receiving compliments on how tasty it was, and that it was some of the best wedding food they have ever had! I was worried that I wasn't going to be hungry, and you always hear that newlyweds don't eat at their own wedding, but believe me, we DEFINITELY ate, and boy was it delicious! Lacuna was a perfect fit for us. The venue has a great industrial, urban, cool, off-beat vibe, and the art in there is incredible, which added to the overall experience for our guests and a great setting for our wedding photos. Horrible service. My Fiance and I visited at least 10 venues for our wedding. Lacuna was our top venue out of all the venues we toured. So we emailed Marry about getting a pricing proposal and scheduling a tasting (that we were going to pay for). At the end we emailed for about 2.5-3 months and I never got a pricing proposal. At All. (my other two favorite venues, got us pricing proposals a week after we had asked for them). For scheduling a tasting, Mary gave me one date in the middle of the work week, I emailed back and told her that my Fiance and I worked during the week so the weekend is better (most venues have tastings on the weekend because of this!). After 3 weeks, I had to email her again to respond to my previous email (Hint: if you have to email a venue to respond to your last email after 3 weeks, that is not good!) Mary then responded with another date, and guess what?! It was in the middle of work week, again. Which I had already told her does not work! Mary told me it that same email that tastings were booked up until December, when I had emailed her in early September. I don't understand how tastings can fill up so quickly when she takes 3 weeks to respond to ME. Obviously, she does not care about my Fiance and I and our wedding day but about others wedding days more. My fiance and I had a timeline set out where we wanted to get all of our venue tastings done by the end of December so we could make a decision by Janurary. We were willing though because we liked Lacuna, to push back our timeline and have a tasting in Janurary. So I emailed Mary back about tastings in Jan. But guess what, it's been 3 weeks and no reply! This is so unproffessional. It is a beautiful venue, but do you really want someone like Mary having a hand in your wedding day? I have no trust that things would get done on time (I mean she takes a month to respond to emails!). We have chosen a different venue because we want to trust the staff we work with and know that the staff is there to make sure we have a wonderful wedding day. read more

My husband and I got married this summer at Lacuna Lofts and could not have picked a more perfect venue! We were looking for a unique, lofted space that was large and open, provided catering, and had outdoor accommodations. Lacuna met all of our expectations and more! We were lucky enough to have Mary as our venue and catering coordinator throughout the entire wedding planning process. Mary answered all of our questions along the way and her relaxed and kind demeanor made the planning fun and enjoyable. We truly felt that she was our partner in planning, as we worked together to coordinate the wedding of our dreams. A huge perk was that they also have their own caterer, LM Catering & Events, so we didn't have to worry about coordinating our own food, tables/chairs, linens, etc. The food provided by LM Catering was amazing, along with the table settings, dessert stands, and beautiful details they provided. On our actual wedding day, we were blown away with how smoothly EVERYTHING went! We had to make some last-minute changes due to the weather, but it was carried out without a hitch. We had our ceremony in the blank canvas gallery, cocktail hour on the rooftop deck, and reception in the reverie gallery. Each and every space was beyond gorgeous. You really can't beat a rooftop party on a nice day in Chicago, and the view of the skyline here is beautiful. Nice place if you can manage to rent here. Well what can I say, it all started well enough. Managed to make an appointment easily enough. It was down hill from there. I was running a few minutes late, so I called. Which really didn't matter because she was running late also, she was finishing up with some other people first, no big deal that's how leasing is, I was impressed that she was discussing what could be done to the space to close the deal. Well, we looked at some spots, one I was really interested in and I said so, I gave her my card and she even emailed me the lease so i can look it over. I sent her a thank you email the next day and reminded her that I liked the space proposed, she was going to ask the owner a question about it. No answer to that email, so I sent another a day later, still no answer, it's been a few days now, and still no answer. I don't get it, I said I liked the space, and to please get an answer from the owner on the one question. Maybe she did ask him, but if the answer was no, some follow up would have been appreciated, how hard is that? Or maybe a woman in her 40s doesn't have that "cool" factor for the place. I don't get the lack of follow up at all, if there is an obit I missed, I'm sorry. Otherwise, drop an email or a phone call. It's a nice building, but management can make or break it. read more

Lacuna Lofts is a beautiful venue in the heart of Pilsen. Our coordinator was friendly and we loved our face-to-face meetings with her. Unfortunately, scheduling meetings and getting responses to our questions via email was slow. On the day of our rehearsal, we had been promised the rooftop until 3pm. At 11 am we found out there was another wedding on the roof at 3 and we had to be completely done by 2 pm, which contradicted our written agreement. On the day of the wedding, there was confusion, communication issues, and some rude interactions with the staff, which made an otherwise gorgeous day lose some of its luster. The tasting and dinner were phenomenal, with the exception of the kids' chicken nuggets, which didn't get any ketchup, even upon request. This space is absolutely gorgeous and easily makes any wedding picturesque, so if you are choosing a place based on the scenery alone, we would recommend it. However, the service issues should cause you hesitation. One last thing to mention that really helped us was the fact that Lacuna was able to track down and return some platters that we left at the building. It definitely gave us some peace of mind and exceeded our expectations! read more

I was antsy about seeing the space so, I moved my appointment to an earlier date. When I arrived at Lacuna's office and stepped off the elevator, I knew that this was where I wanted my designs to live. There was NOTHING bad to say about the lofts. This exclusive community is housed with up and coming artist that have been committed to their studio space since Lacuna opened. The monthly events and the friendly tenants that I meant while there was also an added bonus to my decision. I am beyond pleased with my studio and look forward to building my business and being apart of the Lacuna family. The space itself is beyond 5 stars. It couldn't get any better. I had my wedding reception here and it fit 300 people with a good sized dance floor in the middle. The space was always changing and that was one of the awesome things about it. During the wedding and after, we have began consistently told that it was the coolest venue to have a reception in. Originally we were working with Julia, who is awesome. About a month before our wedding we received an email that Julia's position changed in some capacity. Afterward, it was harder to connect with the people at Lacuna and not nearly as pleasant. Also, the soda things broke part way through the reception. I never knew and Lacuna staff went and bought tons of soda bottles, on them, to fix the situation. They handles and unforunate situation well and my husband and I had no idea that happened until 2 weeks after while we were talking to our reception coordinator. While we would never have changed our venue, as Lacuna was perfect for us, I wish the management wouldn't have changed right before the wedding. And that getting the insurance for our event had been less confusing. read more

We recently leased out an office in this building & so far have been pretty happy. This place is completely different from any other office that we have had. It is covered in art from the top floor to the bottom floor. Not boring art either, they have a lot of cool things including neon light pieces. Some of the good things about this place is that it is in the city but still has a big parking lot with an abundance of parking spaces. A lot of the tenants here are pretty nice & for the most part everyone seems to get along. The prices here also aren't that ridiculous especially because it is in the city. There are a few things that could have been better here. For example the emphasis on this place is it it for working people & also artists with the emphasis on music artists, so I think it would have made sense to sound proof the rooms. Another thing is that none of the elevators ever seem to be working here. With that said this is still a cool place & it has a roof top deck that has a city view & is awesome in the summer. If you are looking for a hip office with a different feel to it this is a good place. read more

what a freaking cute-ass studio. i came here to do yoga on the roof deck, and let me tell you, that roof deck has THE BEST view of the city. there wasn't a cloud in the sky that day. there was actually a fest going on in the parking lot of the studio, otherwise there'd be ample parking for events. we were able to roam around the studio a bit. very raw spaces - beautiful. we took the old-timey elevator all the way up to the roof. really cool signage everywhere. read more

Lacuna Artist Loft Studios was the first venue that we looked at for our wedding, and we immediately fell in love! It is such a unique space, and your head can spin trying to take in all of the art installations. (I also managed to get lost in the winding hallways every time we visited!). We also loved the DIY vibe and flexibility we had in vendor selection. That was important to us! We ended up having our September 2015 wedding ceremony on the rooftop, and our reception in the first floor Reverie Gallery space. Every time we took people up to the rooftop to see the space prior to the wedding, they would let out an audible gasp at the view of the skyline (My mother-in-law may have cried!). It's really beautiful, and the pictures don't do it justice. The Reverie Gallery on the first floor was perfect for our event. We had about 140 guests, with a seated buffet dinner and a sizable dance floor (an absolute requirement). The one complaint that I have about the space is that the only lighting in the room is fluorescent strip lights on the ceiling. That kind of harsh lighting isn't ideal for an evening wedding, and we ended up paying a separate vendor to install cafe string lights. It was an added expense we didn't think about early on. We loved the space, and had a great time at our wedding! I would give this review 5 stars, but we ran into a number of hiccups in communication during the planning process. Julia was wonderful as our initial contact person, but she left a few months into the planning process. From there, it seemed like we had a new contact person every time we reached out. They also use a central "events" email address for contact, so you are never able to directly reach the person you spoke to last time. The lack of continuity became really stressful at points, but ultimately everything worked out. Our final contact person, Mary, was more consistent and on top of things, so I am hoping they have worked out the staffing situation over there. We also paid extra money for a "bridal suite" so our wedding party could hang out somewhere comfortable and private before the ceremony. A few weeks before the wedding they told us they had actually given that space to a monthly renter, but would find something else for us. It ended up just being a small room with some folding chairs in it and a mirror against one wall. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was a little annoyed that we paid extra for that. All that said - I still love the space as much as I did the first day that we saw it and have no regrets about having our wedding at Lacuna. They are still a newer events space, and all of our vendors predicted they would be one of the next big events spaces in the city. I wish them the best! read more

The most unique and beautiful venue in Chicago!! I'm so glad we went with Lacuna for our wedding. The Reverie Gallery is so full of character and didn't need a ton of decorations. The Rooftop deck was amazing. When we saw that view of Chicago, we knew this was the one. We worked with Mary Kehoe and she is so nice. She is very responsive and helped us with our many questions especially in the final weeks before our wedding. She was great to work with. The whole staff the night of our wedding were very attentive & made sure we could relax and enjoy our day. Everyone went above and beyond our expectations and our guests are still complimenting us on the venue, the food and the magic that happened that day. Security is abysmal at this place as well. Try to find the correct way in the place...where is the main door...where is the back door. It's a maze. There is no way that you should rent to put your business here. The floors have confusing numbering. Good luck if a customer wants to find you. And then if your customers need a elevator...it's a joke. The elevators are from the time of Al Capone...yes it's quaint...but it doesn't work. And you need a response from a maintenance person or management after hours... It's not going to happen. I have been here going on two years...worst mistake I have made in a long time. I'm in love...This was the 1st time in this place and OMG. I had a Great time with my Son just walking around from floor to floor. My Son was picking up his eyeglasses from the 5th floor so we took the stairs down. We was very pleased with the Art work. And so many studios. We had our wedding 9/2/18 at Lacuna Lofts. Everything was amazing, and we could not have been happier. We highly recommend. This venue is BYOB, and the food is amazing. Everything ran super smooth, and at no point during the wedding did we have any kind of issue. Lorraine was a Godsend. She constantly put me at ease, and was always professional. We hosted our Wedding Ceremony and Reception at Lacuna this past weekend and it was better than we could ever imagine! We had our ceremony on the rooftop and it was the perfect day! The skyline was stunning and everything was beautiful. The reception was in the Reverie Gallery downstairs and the room looked amazing! Everything about Lacuna is so unique and our guests were raving about every detail! We worked with the beyond brilliant Mary Kehoe. She was amazing! She truly cared about our event and was on top of every detail and extremely responsive! She is a love of a person and so so wonderful to work with! They allowed us to do our rehearsal the Friday before and drop off our items to be stored in the office which was very convenient. They also let us store it there after the wedding and pick it up this week which helped a ton. Mary even called our liquor supplier and took care of pick up! Our big day was perfect! The service was outstanding as well! We had one server just for myself and the groom which was amazing. We never had to ask for anything, it was just always there! The food was also superb! Our guests wouldn't stop talking about it and said it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding! If you're looking for a truly unique and spectacular venue with amazing staff, stop your search now! I have a million positive things I could say about Lacuna and its staff. We got married at Lacuna in May 2017 and worked with Mary Kehoe, who was absolutely amazing. Everything was perfect and she was so helpful throughout the whole process. Our guests all raved about how unique and one of a kind the venue was, as well as how awesome the food was. They made sure our day was perfect and exactly how we imagined it! Mary in particular was so great to work with. She always answered any questions we had, and was super helpful when it came to deciding whether we'd have our ceremony indoors or outdoors the week of the wedding. She is a truly kind and sincere person. There are a ton of super cool, artsy spots for photos ops, which was a major plus. Definitely the most unique place in Chicago to get married!! read more

This is a really nice space. If you want to throw a party, I mean a GIANT party . . . this is the place to rent. The space itself is expansive, shiny hardwood floors, big windows, lots of light. An area that can be used for a bar, clean bathrooms. read more

Ive attended several events in this building and Ive enjoyed every one! I love the art and beauty of this old building.

This place is awesome, and you would never know driving by. I always drive by and it looked like another factory building but once you go in you can feel and see the energy and creativity of the artists there. My wife and I loved their rooftop and booked it for our wedding ceremony. Came here with a friend to check out a photography installation by Bob Briskey entitled inspired beauty which had each picture paired with a Pearl Jam song. This seemed timely as Pearl Jam had been in town recently. I really enjoyed how clean the space is and how organized everything seemed. The lofts have several floors, and each floor has different exhibits, businesses, or activities. We walked around after visiting the art installation as this was my first time here and my friend was interested at using this space as the location for a future event. People there seemed nice and helpful. As you can see, very cool art available here. It also seemed like there is a cafe of some sort being constructed on the first floor which could only bring more patrons to the facility. read more

We couldn't of asked for a better venue for our wedding. Mary at Lacuna always assured us everything would be fine and she sure pulled it off. No matter what happened Mary made sure that we were going to get the wedding of our dreams. Even when it started raining and our ceremony was on the rooftop, Mary was able to work her magic and we had our cocktail hour before the ceremony. By doing this the rain eventually subsided, all the chairs were wiped down and we were able to have our dream wedding on the rooftop. The entire time this was going on Mary didn't even flinch and kept everything running perfectly smooth. The food was exactingly like it was the tasting and the staff was on point the entire night.
