The city recently remodels the play structure! It's much bigger and the kids love it. Also, this place is ideal place to take photos (family, engagements, kids, etc.) It does get crowded at times, especially during the weekend. They also have open fields where you can play catch or have a picnic. They have some pave roads where kids can bike, scooter or rollerskate. They also have tennis courts on the side of the park and they also have lessons for those who were interested. Unfortunately, they recently implemented charging non residents during the weekends. I don't support this charge since public parks should be for everyone. Whether or not you are living in the city. Other than that come to visit during the weekdays when it's free! read more

Lacy Park! It's one of the better parks in the SGV, located in San Marino. It has a large grass field with lots of trees and areas for picnics/parties (You need to reserve areas). Around the outside of the grassy area is a nice, paved oval track that's great for jogging, biking, rollerskating, skateboarding, scooters, and walking. (The only problem I have seen is that you are allowed to go clockwise or counterclockwise and kids biking ran into each other then crashed). Before the pandemic, you needed to pay on the weekends if you aren't a San Marino resident. However, that has been removed during the pandemic and continues (but for how long, who knows?). Within the last few months, the playgrounds (younger area and older kids area) were both outfitted with new equipment. It's very nice and can get crowded on the weekends. This is my favorite park. It's free for the public during the week and on Sat/Sun, it's free for San Marino residents. Non San Marino residents can come to Lacy Park for $4 on Sat/Sun It's fairly large and clean. Lacy Park is enclosed by fencing around its perimeter so it is more secure. The children's play area is far enough from the entrance where you don't have to worry as much about children running off and into the street. There are two main path loops inside of the park that people can take. It's great for walking your dog or getting a run in. The grass area is also great for dogs. What a beautiful gem this park is! It's truly a pleasant experience! Perfect for almost any occasion. If you want to just walk or exercise your dog. With lots of trees, open fields (last I checked all dogs must remain leashed), two separate play pens for toddlers and kids. With a beautiful Rose garden with tons of seating and tables if you just wanna people watch or have a meal. I worked in the area for a little while and always drove by it on the way home. Till one day my wife met with her friend and kids to play together at the park. She vouched that it's a beautiful place. So one morning on my day off I decided to take my daughter for a stroll in the park. It was really fun, air was so clean. People were nice out there, no shady crowds. Super nice! Parking on the property and tons on the street. Truly amazing park to visit, and if you wonder if it's safe. YES. San Marino has one of the most responsive police departments in all of California. Lacy Park is a beautiful well manicured park in an upper scale neighborhood in San Marino(?). There is a fee to enter the park on weekends, but not weekdays, for non-residents. There is a lot, but also a decent amount of free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. There are tennis courts in the park that need to be reserved as well as a children's play area. The park itself and especially the children's play area can get very noisy. There is an outer and an inner path to walk around the park. There is a restroom located near the children's play area. The restrooms are in very good condition for a public park. Overall, this is a nice clean, safe feeling, and family visited park in a nice area too visit. WE recommend giving them a try to take your kids to play, have a tennis match, or just take a nice walk. There is a small rose garden in the park as well. read more

This park feels magical . We stopped here to picnic before going to the Huntington Gardens , which is only 4 minutes away by car. So many shady spots on the grass , and a great paved path for kids or adults to casually bike . To note - paid weekends start soon (April 11) for non residents to pay $4 per person. read more

This is a beautiful park in the middle of San Marino. On weekends they charge for parking, but there are plenty of free street spots in the residential area. On weekdays, the parking lot is free. There is an inner loop that is wide enough for bikes and other wheels. There is an outer loop that more resembles a hike. There are more flies and bugs in the outer loop. There is a large grass area in the center where people have soccer drills, frisbee, picnics, etc. There is a jungle gym play area for children under twelve. The restrooms are right by the sand area. Park is safe and clean. As of this writing, if you bring a three-wheeled electric bike (eBike) you will be escorted out of the park. It's a humiliating experience because everyone is staring at you so expect the park staff to not be friendly if you are let inside the park by mistake with an eBike, and especially a three-wheeled eBike. There did not appear to be any signage prohibiting electric assisted vehicles into the park. Checking the San Marino and Lacy Park web pages, there is no notice in prohibiting eBikes or eBikes with three wheels. read more

This park is so beautiful. It's really worth a visit. Lot's of grass for a nice picnic or perhaps for the children to run free. It's a great place for children to practice riding their bikes or scooters They have two jungle gyms. One is for children ages 2-5 years old and the other is for ages 5-12 years old. Our little brave boy gravitated towards the older jungle gym of course. It is complete with a treehouse. He loved climbing up to the tree house sliding down the slide. It's better to go during the week before school gets out. Some of the wild children with parents who don't closely pay attention might run into your children. Be mindful of that! Lacy Park is so beautiful! I highly recommend taking your family for a visit. Non-Residents need to pay $5 on the weekends. Tranquil, stunningly beautiful, and the perfect place to rewind. My favorite times of the day to visit are early morning (right after sunrise) or right at sundown. These are the least busy times of the day. What's unique about Lacy are the two paved trails. The super wide inner loop (~0.4 miles) is bike and scooter friendly, which is perfect for little kids. The longer outer loop runs parallel to the inner loop and takes you through a more secluded experience, sometimes being completely shut off to the inner loop. The outer loop is blocked off to bikes and scooters (pretty strictly followed by visitors), so walkers and joggers love to use this one. The park is directly connected to the San Marino Tennis Courts (although a membership is needed to play there). They have a famous rose garden, which is a secluded section of the park that you can walk through, and even picnic (the garden has a grass area in the center). Recently, non San Marino residents do not have to pay a $5 entrance fee upon weekend visits, so it has been very packed lately. Before this was enacted, the park was especially packed on weekday afternoons, right up until sundown. read more

This park has well manicured green grass, tennis courts, family friendly, dog friendly, rose garden, veterans monument, picnic tables and children's playground. Furthermore, it has two walking loops - an inner loop roughly 0.6 mile in length, and an outer loop of approximately 1 mile in length. This park reminds me very much of NY Central Park's Sheep Meadow. This park accepts fee reservation for a park area of groups over 15 and other visitor park rules (e.g., $5 entry fee non-residents). Parking lot and street parking are available. Overall, it's a very lovely park and it's perfect place for a morning stroll or a light jog. read more

There is a parking lot at the entrance on Virginia Rd and a ton of street parking all around the park. I love that this park is enclosed so it feels more safe when you are doing your walks/runs. The park is spacious and has a playground for children. There is very little parking, so arrive early if you want to park in the park. I like the set-up of the park. One of my favorite park in the San Gabriel Valley. I used to come here for a jog and bring my dog here for a walk. There is a really large grass field with palm trees, rose garden, tennis court, kids playground. There is a fee for non residents on the weekends and free to anyone on the weekdays. Right by the entrance, there is a historic house - Thurnher House which I have used before for girl scout meetings. My troop only had 6 girls so it was suitable for our meetings. We have noticed lately that it may be due to the tree sap, but our dogs are always sticky and dirty after coming to this park so we have to give them a bath. Lately I've been pushing them in their stroller to get steps in and have them cruise this awesome park! We typically park on the street in the neighborhood closer to the rose entrance and only go on weekdays since we'd have to pay as non-San Marino residents on the weekend. This is one of those hidden gems in a normally busy suburb. If you're looking for a super quiet place for a small picnic, place for a scenic walk with the dog or just a beautiful location for some lifestyle pics in the garden this is your spot. It's $5/person to enter on the weekends for non San Marino Residents or free on the weekdays. You buy your ticket at the gate from the security guard. There is a super small parking lot or street parking line near the entrance which is all free. Walking into the park you feel like you're at some county club the flowers and gardens are that pristine! The grass is super green and you'll absolutely notice how quiet it is besides the birds. During covid the two walking paths have traffic control in one direction. So yes walk from the left side not the right side to follow the flow of traffic! The paths lead to a large garden area big enough for a wedding ceremony! The garden is full of cherry blossoms, roses and other beautiful flowers for those lifestylers looking for places for them pics for the gram. There are also tennis courts located in the very back along with the rear parking lot. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the park or alot of people do picnics in the middle of the huge lawn area. There are plenty of trash cans throughout and yes people keep this park clean! This ain't one of those ghetto parks with trash everywhere. Towards the center you'll also see the military memorial for all the fallen solders of all our military branches. It's quite a sight with the flags of every branch flying beautifully above the memorial with the statue kneeling against the wall of names. Definitely come pay your respects to those that served so we can have such freedoms. Just an absolute perfect place for the family, significant other or solo to enjoy an beautiful day at the park. read more
