We loved it!! Stayed in the joe young cabin. It was so cute, comfy, and homey. The property itself is beautiful! The lake has canoes available for guests to use as well as paddles and life jackets. Staff is very friendly. Very quiet and peaceful place to stay. Not to mention, only about 15 minutes away from major climbing areas in PMRP. We will definitely be coming back!! Note: looked like the water heater in the bathroom was exposed and a furnace was brought in to keep pipes from freezing. Nothing bothersome, though.

    View from the lake.

    How far from miguels?

Not that far. Like 15-20 minute drive. We stayed at Lago Linda and went to Miguels for brunch easily.

I think I was a little afraid that the campground would be similar to Miguel's -- lots of party-time people and little privacy. However, our small group was pleasantly surprised that many of the sites had their own sense of "place." While few of the sites are completely secluded, they at least have plenty of trees around them to give you a tiny bit of privacy. We got a double-pad site since we had two tents, and this was more than enough room. The pads are very generously sized, so if you have one of those ginormous 8-person tents that are bigger than a Manhattan studio apartment, you should have no issue setting it up. Each site comes with a picnic table (ours had 2 but not sure if that was because it was a double?) and a fire pit. You can purchase wood and ice at the campsite host. There are also some short but fun trails that lead off from Koomer Ridge, and I think at least one connects to the Rough Trail, which is a very long trail going through the Gorge that also lives up to its name. The only downside is you can hear the traffic from the road fairly easy, but giving how close the campground is to the main road, this isn't really surprising. I just figure it's part of the territory with car camping as opposed to backpacking.

Wonderful, spacious sites and nice clean facilities - what more do you really need? The campground is conveniently located near the highway and for short drives to the surrounding area for hiking, sightseeing and whatnot. There is access to at least one cliff trail at several points around the campground, and you're never too far from a pit toilet. But if those aren't your idea of a nice place to do your business, the actual restroom and shower facilities are amazingly clean. My only complaint is that the frogs don't know what "quiet time" means.

It IS off the beaten path but IS so worth the effort to get to. The drive there is through some of the most beautiful countryside you'll see in Kentucky's scenic Bluegrass region. We were helped by Ben and Lyndsey the owners. Immediately we felt as if we were family -- honestly. They helped select the right watercraft for us and we had a fabulous time. The scenery is amazing and Stoner Creek is truly away from it all. It meanders through agricultural land so it's incredibly quiet and peaceful -- oh, and did I mention beautiful. You've simply GOT to make your way to Fryman's -- a great place to boat, fish, camp, relax and enjoy. Thanks Ben & Lyndsey

That is when I found this hidden gem. I am glad I did. It took a bit of driving to find this place, but was so worth it. I had planned an Unofficial Yelp Event here and just so happened that the weather was perfect. The water was calm and nippy. Such a great day to be out and one with nature. The lauching fee here is $5. You can rent a kayak all day here for $15. How cheap is that? The lady that runs the shop is extremely nice and a good talker. She told me a bit about the history of the place while we waited for my fellow Yelper to show up. Yes that was singular. Only one person showed up for the UYE. It seems alot of people don't like to do physical activity on holidays. LOL Oh well. I loved it. The day was peaceful and relaxing. I think we paddled 5 miles up river and then 5 miles back. It was a perfect day with lots of great scenery. They have an area for a camp ground as well as a store to buy/rent stuff. I am a huge fan of it. If you want to get out into nature and are near here. Stop in. I am sure you will love it. I know I did.

The Rundown: this place is kind of between primitive and non primitive. You have your site marked out for you but no way to run any lighting not powered by batteries. I do like that it is a small camp ground and certain sites like ours #53 felt very secluded. Some walkway lighting, or at least lighting in the bathrooms would be nice. What I found to be best about this camp ground is that there is a trail that is connected to the property. It is the Rough Trail, #220. It's name appears deceiving because when you start out it is very easy. It is not until you reach the halfway point which is a mile and a quarter that the difficulty level skyrockets. At the end of this trail is part if the beautiful river. You can hang out down there where it is nice and cool. If you want to get to it faster, you can go to where Rough Trail, #221 begins, it is only 3/4 a mile. The Impression: the scenery is beautiful in its own way but nothing spectacular from your camp site. Without being able to look up much information on the park we came there prepared equipment wise, but expected a little more amenities. This is a place that is worth exploring a few times.
