I was in West Maui for a few weeks and was lucky to have found the Lahaina CrossFit workouts every Monday and Friday mornings at 8 am at Kahekili Beach Park (aka Airport Park). Nothing better than CrossFit on vacation! I've been meaning to leave a review for awhile but kept forgetting. I went two separate years, 2021 and 2022 and had the same great experience. The first year I stuck to open gym since I wasn't really a cross fitter and this year I jumped in classes! Tom and Janelle were very welcoming both times and the other coaches were friendly as well. The equipment is well kept, and there's a LOT. Equipment is not cheap, especially in Hawaii, so it says a lot about the gym investing in their equipment. Workouts are fun and challenging! It's scalable for all levels but there are advanced options which is nice for someone who wants to become a better CF athlete. Highly recommend this gym and if you're lucky you'll have Tom and Janelle throw down with you in a class or at the end during a finisher. Can't wait to come back! read more

Attention Gym-Bros & Sisters on vacation in Lahaina. The dilemma was if it was best to forsake the "Temple of Iron" for a week and to not lift for the Almighty Bro-din while away from my normal temple. I knew the amount of calories from the "local plates" I was to consume would put me WAY over my allotted macros. It was decided that a few sets of iron were needed to keep my imminent caloric gorging in check. Upon entering the so-called fitness center of my resort, I was insulted for it was no bigger than a breadbox filled with elliptical machines, treadmills, and dumbbells no heavier than 50 lbs. It looked like the evil Bro-ki himself had designed this fitness center to steal my hard worked for beach body gainz. The Gym-Bros at my Temple of Iron have made jokes and their disdain for "Crossfit" (CF); and yes I laughed along with jokes that CF is ideal for building cardiovascular endurance also known as the ability to lose "gainz", CF places a huge emphasis on form....and not needing it, CF teaches you the correct way to do an incorrect pull-up (kipping). But I felt that with the previous perfect Yelp rating, my sacrifice of succumbing to CF on vacation would surely be forgiven. I arrived at 5:45am on Tuesday only because my body-clock was still on West coast time. Sitting in the parking lot waiting, I observed Anthony, the owner and operator of Lahaina Cross Fit (LCF) , saunter into the "box" and pull down the chains to open the warehouse doors. What I saw was a dude with smile on his face as he pulled down on each chain, opening his business at 6 am. It was obvious that Anthony had a passion for his craft and that he was actually happy to be up before sunrise. Anthony greeted me with a firm handshake and understood what I wanted in a vacation workout. Without telling him my prior opinion of CF, he let me workout for the first session for free. The walls of the facility are high & expansive to give you an open feeling, but no mirrors for self-mirin'. The amount of 45lb barbells, various weight plates, kettle bells, dumbbells, clips, and chalk available for use are plentiful and would my own temple extremely jealous. The pull-up bars & squat racks are proficiently combined to make use of space. Soon, the normal members of LCF walked in. A couple of swole dudes who would NOT be mistaken for DYEL, a 4-month pregnant fitness hurricane, a brunette fitness model, and a slew of other body types that made me mistakenly question their fitness acumen. They greeted each other with hugs, handshakes, and smiles like longtime family. And then Anthony gets our attention, turns up the music.....so it begins. About 50 minutes later, my Nike Dri-fit was completely drenched from my own DNA....with maybe some tears of exhaustion mixed in from my whimpering. The Work Out of the Day (WOD) was filled with overhead presses, squats, and pull-ups; all done at an interval and pace to which I was unaccustomed. My shoulders had a nice pump, with my back and glutes feeling well exhausted. As I laid on my back in a fetal like position, I saw the "regulars" talking and laughing as if the WOD was a normal walk in the park for them. My jokes about CF had come back to haunt me and I was now at their benevolent mercy. My mind marveled at a stunning woman who did not allow her pregnancy to hinder her passion for fitness; she squatted deep and heavy for her size with no quit. The friendly fitness model was all business, doing handstand pushups and stomach crunches as if it were child's play; yeah, I was mirin' her abs. The other male members performed heavy Olympic lifts in a powerful yet controlled precision. Needless to say, I was impressed, inspired, and humbled. For my weeklong membership at $72, I ended up going 6 days every morning possible (LCF is closed on Sundays). The morning classes were less filled and humid than later in the day. Each WOD was worthy of keeping my muscles in tuned and prepared for my normal workout routine when I return mainland. You are allowed to use the weights after the WOD session for your own workout in case you wanted to do extra exercises on body parts the WOD may have missed. In the end, I have nothing but the highest of notes for Lahaina Cross-Fit. Anthony has patience to teach a beginer the fundamentals of each compound lift and proper form (although I'm still not sold on the kipping pull-ups). The pace and weight of each exercise is up to you but remember, you only get out of the workout the effort you put in. The music played is upbeat hip-hop/dance with some old school tunes in the mix. The support, encouragement, and spirit of the members are what made each WOD great; high-fives, fist bumps, head nods of approval, all it means is your effort is being seen and appreciated by others. Thank you LCF for letting me in your family for a short time; I've gained a new amount of respect for CF and will always remember the "Ohana" spirit you bestowed on me. Aloha. read more

Nice gym with groovy owners. Got an awesome workout in and was thoroughly pleased with the size of the gym and the equipment. The reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is the price. They don't offer any type of drop-in/shirt special, and they charged my wife and I $30.00 each for the drop-in. The shirt was also $30.00, so I only got one for the wife. $90.00 for two workouts and a shirt is pretty steep, in my opinion. Overall, was good to do once. If I come back to Maui, I may try it again, but I will definitely shop around a bit. read more

If you are in Maui and you want a gym that is has that state of the art Crossfit box, has every piece of equipment and can have large groups of people in one class, this is the Drop In for you. Lahaina is a very beautiful box that overlays a great blue like the ocean feel. The coaches are just a awesome as the interior design. I went to a saturday WOD and it was filled with people that were a combination of drop-ins and regulars. This was the totally opposite atmosphere I got from Crossfit Napili. Unlike Napili, Lahaina models itself to the standard box similar to the boxes I have at home in California. It was very hot that day, so I especially got my sweat on during this WOD. I met some people that were from CA as well while I was there. I always met with many regulars there as it was a partner wod. If you're in the area and crossfit, definitely stop by here for a WOD! The people here are super friendly and welcoming and we had an awesome time when we dropped in while on vacation. There is a drop in fee even if you buy a shirt, but that's ok because this is an awesome place to get a good workout. They do get a lot of visitors so I understand. They have a huge selection of shirts which was cool because some places I've dropped in at didn't have any sizes of the one shirt they have. This place had like ten different shirt styles and I had trouble picking out what shirt to get. They do a good warm up, some mobility, a little accessory work, then the WOD, and some extra credit stuff if your still able to move after the WOD. Overall I'd recommend coming in here for a WOD if you're here on vacation or live here! Really cool people and a nice Box! Lame. *UPDATE* Wow usually I have way more to say about places I visit via Yelp but this place... I got there at a time that they should have been open, yet all doors were locked. Garage doors closed. No one to even tell me "yeah no classes 'til later but please come by then!" or "Yeah no classes til later but since you're here and visiting, feel free to use the facilities and tell us what you think, just pay day pass rate". I don't think they had a day pass rate though so yeah that's wishful thinking. It's all good. But I'm never going back to this place. One major inconvenience to me is more than enough. The old-school ballz-to-the-wall bodybuilding-grinder gym down the road filled my needs for deadlifting just fine~ Someone did however contact me about what happened. Doesn't make up for my time or gas or incorrect info online or anything like that. I'm glad so many ppl love this place (judging from the 5 star reviews). This is my second year in a row coming to work out here while on vacation. I wish I had a crossfit gym like this back home. WOW. First off, they have an enormous facility. They have so much equipment and everything is updated and clean. Janelle and Tom are the owners and are the sweetest most amazing people you will ever meet.
