Incredible, very clean park, trails are extremely easy, and flat. Water was beautiful and plenty of wild life!

In a word: Idyllic. This is the kind of place that poets write about in odes and sonnets. Particularly on a beautiful, clear day lit by golden sunshine blasting down from a cloudless azure sky. Lake Arrowhead itself is a glittering blue placid mirror, reflecting the distant tree-crowned mountains. Lightly wooded areas make up the bulk of the park, with a number of covered pavilions offering shade from the heat of the sun. Even under the trees, the dappled light is far cooler than out in the beating sun. Also, small, but reasonably well-maintained restrooms offer running water, and out behind the bathrooms are two fenced-in showers (which came in ultra handy after running in the Luray Triathlon). Spaces like this remind me that there's time to breathe, to hold out my arms, tilt up my head, and just smile.

We used the strap that came with the cooler tube to strap my youngest child's tube to another one. One employee told us we could purchase another strap to tether them together but then the employee in the shop kind of scoffed and said it wouldn't necessary. It was definitely necessary! We had to paddle after all the kids cause their arms and legs are too short to even reach the water and paddle themselves. The employees really didn't do a whole lot of customer service so I'm not really sure the tip (which was paid in advance) was worth it. We even had to carry all our tubes all the way back up the hill after we finished. The river itself is mostly calm and it is a beautiful area. But there was quite a bit of algae/scum in the slower moving water which grossed out the kids lol. And the island where we stopped to each lunch had some trash on it. Overall tubing was a good experience but the $200+ price felt like a lot for what it was.

The inside was spacious and fit us 5 comfortably. We did the short rafting trip which was perfect for young kids. Jumped off the raft several times for some swimming. Everything went very smoothly with the staff, and they had a food truck on the property where we enjoyed lunch.

It's beautiful backed by the mountains and our American flag riding the wind. They seem to hold events there also. They did add sheltered picnic tables around a small pond. Pond is a bit smelly. I saw some grocery bags and sandwich bags in the water. Torn fabrics on the ground in front of the stone wall. Not too bad, just needs a volunteer clean up day and maybe don't allow fishing in it.

We were a bit early to check-into our AirBnB, so we were looking to kill time, and this place came upon our path. Pros: *Small pond with some shade. *Bethany Veney Remembrance Garden, which honors a former slave. *The famous 47-bell Luray Singing Tower (aka Belle Brown Northcott Memorial), which, to be honest, was what caught our eye and made us decide to kill time here. For performance dates and times go here: https://luraycaverns.com/explore/singing-tower/ The Meh: *No picnic tables *No BBQ pits *No Restrooms The Ugly: *Virginia summer weather... 0_o TLDR: Decent park but only plan to visit to catch a performance from the tower, as it's probably spectacular.
