Don was kind enough to accept the challenge of my 1957 Christ Craft 18' Holiday. It was worn down, needed a new engine and had issues through-out the boat. Don's imagination and willingness to find solutions lead to a fantastic, finished product. I live ~2,400 miles from McCall, ID so trusting a team across the country to lead a project like this wasn't easy. Last September I took my 27' Ranger Tug to Canyon Marine…read moreto have the 1000hr maintenance done on the Yamaha 300HP outboard at the recommendation of my usual boat shop. The tech at my normal shop didn't feel qualified to do that level of service and said Casey at Canyon was more experienced. When I picked up the boat Canyon had done over $500 worth of work I had specifically told them not to do, that I would do myself. They also DIDN'T do some of the items I had requested they perform. When I got the boat home I found the oil level overfilled, so I pumped out some oil. It looked VERY unusual for brand new oil, like dark tea with a reddish tinge. I questioned whether it had even been changed but when I had it analyzed the lab said it looked clean so I dropped the issue. This May we launched the boat in Anacortes, WA and I started the motor for the first time since picking it up from Canyon Marine. We quickly discovered that the head was cracked and the motor was ruined. I called Canyon Marine at the time and left a voicemail message with the manager telling him about the failure. No one called me back. After I knew what the problem was and what the replacement motor cost would be I sent a letter to the manager at Canyon Marine detailing the issue and asking for a refund of the $2573 they charged me for the work. No one answered me. This motor cost tens of thousands of dollars to replace and all I asked for was what they charged me to ruin my outboard. The motor was running fine when I hauled the boat out last August before taking it to Canyon Marine. I had just run it from the Puget Sound to Alaska and back with a retired police officer who can attest to this. No one could determine the root cause of the failure so I can't prove Canyon Marine did this but it seems highly likely. Worked when I dropped it off, didn't work next time I started it after they serviced it. The customer service I experienced with this business has been truly abysmal.

Less than 30 minutes on the water and dead again would not auto stow. We have taken it to them twice once in the dead of winter to give them plenty of time to take to trouble shoot it and figure out what was wrong. It appears they did nothing though they charged us a pretty penny.

He blamed my motor's custom design for the issue, even though the real problem was his shop's failure to secure it properly. He eventually fixed it, but then called me just to gripe and complain about how he "wasted his time" on a "dumb motor." A professional shop should know how to follow basic safety specs the first time. The owner's lack of accountability and his aggressive attitude are completely unacceptable. Save yourself the stress and the safety risk, take your boat somewhere else!

When I rented a CFR 250 dirt bike and trailer for 4 days online, I was given a total price and…read moreasked for a deposit. When I get the invoice via email, there is an additional fee for the trailer added even though I selected a trailer when I booked. Deposit was never credited to the total. I discovered this on my CC statement a month later. Called and they stated they would refund the deposit. The bigger issue was with the bike. It wouldn't shift into 3rd gear without reaching down and yanking up on the shifter with my hand. When I dropped it off, I explained the issue and asked for a credit. They said no one complained about it before but would look into it. Never heard back. I have been riding since I was 4. I'm in my 50's now. I know how to shift, I know when a lever is bent, boot caught, etc. The only issue was 3rd gear. 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th shifted fine. At the time of pick-up, it was loaded on the trailer so I didn't test it first. However, riding it through the parking lot I most likely wouldn't have hit 3rd gear anyway. Riding some of the hills in Cascade, it's not very convenient to shift with my hand. And quite unsafe for an inexperienced rider. I'd still like for the Cascade location to make it right. For me and future renters of this dirt bike.

I joined Cascade Idaho group and got accepted. I posted about his bag and someone named Sharon picked it up. Michael Powell, retired law enforcement, and family business owner of the Valley Bait and Tackle Shop reached out to me to make a plan to get it back to us. Sharon dropped it off Thursday and Michael drove it down to us Friday morning to Horshoe Bend. He wanted to make sure it was in the right hands. He even gave my father in law a shirt from the shop. This bag was very special to the family as he had items from his father and items from when his son was a child. Michael deserves business at his shop.
