My family has had Lake Country Power for many years and I just can't understand why we pay them so much and get so little back. Why is that?

Honestly 13 year with LCP absolutely trash service yet again another power outage wonder home days it will be this time? Beyond expensive compared to neighbors on Minnesota power. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

1. Who uses 800 kw of electricty a month? 2. Lake country power is out to help the rich. 3. When you go a gas station do you have to pay more per gallion if you buy 3 gals vs 15 gallions? 4.The higher the rate the more sales tax you have to pay 5. How much more would you pay if you didnt have the seasonal people here to help pay for electric. 6.Who gets the most benefits from electricty? 7.Why are the big users getting a break and the small users not? 8.Why do we push for better lights and ways to save electricty and then forcing us to pay a larger fee? 9.Why dont you join with another Coop to save money? 10. Lake Country Power is a rural electric cooperative formed to serve and owned by residents in northern Minnesota. Lake Country Power has the 2nd highest fixed charge (currently $42/month) of any electric utility in the state. In my opinion, reliability is poor; outages are legion and frequently last for days at a time. Expenses appear to me to be out of control. Spending is profligate on items that have little to do with providing electricity. The Board of Directors often seems unable to adhere to its self-determined budget and in the past has exceeded that budget by upwards of 30%. Local investigative journalism has concluded that certain board members have padded their expenses to receive additional compensation. In my estimation, this member-owned co-op primarily serves the interests of its leadership at the expense of its member-ratepayers. read more
