Great local place for all my recycling needs. They are always super friendly when I come and always pay top dollar. Their prices on copper, brass, and wires are the best! Miguel will price match if you're able to find a better price out there. I like how they weigh your material in front of you versus other places I've been to in the past where I'm not able to see the scale, so I always know that I'm getting honest weight with them. The only item that they don't really pay great on is steel as they seem to concentrate more on the non-ferrous metals, but they will take my junk steel like old water heaters and other stuff off my hands for free which is nice. Blacktop to drive on, not gravel. Sometimes they have giveaways (pizza cutter, chip clips) that I've gotten when I've brought my copper in there, which is always a fun surprise. Highly recommend! Good people, great prices, honest. Only place I go now for recycling. read more

Over the years, I hve not been the best as a "recycle" person. I forget to save every can, but thanks to the folks at Lake County Scrap and the way they taught me how to do this, I have become better at it and have picked up a few dollars as well. I use the money for gift cards for the homeless, so in a way, besides being a warm and friendly company that cares about the environment and those who live in it, they allow me to have a better attitude about the Earth we live in and the others who live with us. There are times it gets a little busy on a Saturday morning, but the crew at Lake County is great! read more

Answer to the owner. Your employees are thieves. People....Dont go to this place. Im a plumber and recycling a copper in Northwest suburbs for over 20 years,so I know these places.My plumber co worker also saying that these people a thieves and underweight the scrap metal.They picking up a metal in one place and do the weight in another place you not suppose to go.Really???I caught them underweight my copper for 30 pounds.This difference is going to the thief pocket. Only good thing that this place have a convention location. .This behavior should be punished by local authorities. read more

Like other complaints, always have to watch weights like a hawk, they constantly write down lower weights. I can weigh at shop, and its never same weight when I get there. There are plenty of other places, I would go elsewhere! read more

I've been going to Lake County Scrap Yard for over 25 years and never had a problem, if the weight comes close around 2 or 3lbs I'm fine with it. I've weighed some a/c coils to be recycled and they were within a pound of the weight. I was there on 8/8/18 and had no problems with the amount they paid for copper or the weight they paid me for. So I don't know why these plumbers have had problems. The only reason for the 4 star rating is that the yard drop off areas could be layed out better, sometimes there 4 or 5 trucks or cars trying to unload and it gets congested because they are so busy.
