I appreciated his willingness to prepare a ceremony with our own vows and one without, allowing us to make a game time decision the day of. He arrived to the event promptly and prepared. When I tell you everybody at the wedding was crying, it is an understatement. Rev. Lackey delivered our vows in such a way that it had grown men crying. Absolutely phenomenal experience. We had planned a small destination wedding in Tahoe and researched several wedding officiants. Dave was highly recommended. I spent nearly 30 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and I'm not the easiest person for someone to exceed my expectations. Dave exceeded our expectations from the start of planning to the end of the wedding ceremony. Our ceremony was held along the shore of Lake Tahoe and the weather changed quickly. It started snowing and then turned into a light rain/snow mix. While my bride and I were able to use an umbrella when needed for portions of the ceremony, Dave stood in the wet and cold weather and conducted the ceremony as though it was dry and 75 degrees out. Before the wedding, we was already very helpful, quick responded to questions and concerns we had. We did not have time to prepare what personal touch we wanted for our wedding besides our personal vows, we did not have rehearsal. I only had a little time to talk to him on the phone about the ceremony. On the day of, I was wow'ed by his beautiful long speech before our vows. He really made it nice and memorable. David married my husband and I this October at Edgewood. The ceremony was beautiful, and he also performed our ceremomy rehearsal the day before. He did a great job coordinating the flow of the ceremony on the day of our wedding. He knew exactly who should be where and who should do what, and it all went very smoothly. My husand and I were easily able to personalize the ceremony and the "confirmed weddings" section of his website was very helpful in choosing the things we wanted him to say. That section is password protected, and I had to email him after our wedding date was secured with him in order to get the password. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I guess I was expecting him to be a little more proactive in making our ceremony exactly the way we wanted it (ie. prompting us for input after we confirmed the date with him, or sending an outline of the ceremony and asking for our input). I almost felt that if I hadn't emailed him then he would've just put together a random ceremony without any input from us. That being said, once I did email him, he allowed us to make our ceremony exactly what we wanted it to be and it was perfect. He worked extremely well with our other vendors (especially the photographers) and we had a ceremony that was the perfect length - not so long that guests get bored but not so short that people wonder what happened. We chose not to have Dave attend rehearsal, and so he was more than willing to meet with my husband & I in town for a meet and greet. I had multiple of my friends and family who attended say what an amazing job he did & how it flowed so nicely. (A few also mentioned how handsome Dave was and how between the 3 of us it looked liked a movie, haha!) We had our son be a part of our ceremony about half way through & the way that Dave incorporated him went flawless. When it was time for "the kiss", Dave was so professional in standing off to the side for the photographs that were being taken. (I didn't even realize this until I got my photo's back from our photographer...and even she said she could instantly tell how experienced he was in doing this). I really loved him for doing that, but even of the pictures including Dave duing our ceremony, look stunning. He was very helpful as we wrote our own vows, we sent him our rough drafts & he was quick to reply with advice in making everything flow as a whole. As this was a destination wedding, we didn't know what to expect when booking Dave Beronio Jr. as our officiant for our ceremony on February 13, 2016. As we starting booking other vendors for our reception and wedding, we quickly found out that everybody we talked to in South Lake Tahoe had nothing but wonderful things to say about the Beronio's. Our concerns quickly diminished due to the town's rave reviews, and our initial phone call to the Beronio's where Mrs. Bernonio answered our questions and assisted with confirming our date. The whole process was smooth. Dave had each of us give him a little background and bio's about ourselves and referred us to his website where he had many sample vows and readings. He helped us design our ceremony by providing examples, listening to our story and guiding us to make decisions easy during the period of planning when there seemed like too much to do. Our wedding was a blending of families where we wanted emphasis on our union as couple as well as our becoming a family where Dave offered some ideas on how to include the children in the ceremony.
