We were hoping this would be a good place but we're sorely disappointed. My wife found a billfold stuffed in the pillowcase which belong to a man from South Carolina. I found the man's number in the billfold and called him directly to let him know that I had possession of it but he had already canceled all of his credit cards after calling Lakelawn who told him they did not have it. We moved to another property in Yarmouth and Lakelawn refused to reimburse us money for the stay. My wife noticed they offer a discount to anyone who will write a favorable review to TripAdvisor. Our group of nine strongly recommend against this property. read more

I was double-charged for a one night stay here in mid-September 2022. I called & sent a copy of my VISA statement to them, they said they would contact their bookkeeper. Now I'm being ghosted. It is also across the street from a 24-hr gas station and was awoken when their dumpster was emptied at 3AM. I would never stay here again. read more

It's not your traditional B and B, its more like a motor court with small rooms and a larger building with a few B & B style rooms in them that cost a bit more (we stayed in the motel part). The motel rooms are small and the bathroom although well maintained and very clean was as compact as it gets. The bedding of good quality and the bed comfortable. The grounds are well maintained with lots of plantings. The Breakfast was terrific and the owner was a delight and extremely helpful. I found this to be a well run, very clean and good place to stay if in Yarmouth. The owner was very eager to make sure our stay was a good one. I would stay here again if in the Yarmouth area. read more

I stayed here with my girlfriend on a Saturday night in September. We took the Nova Star cruise up to Yarmouth. As an adult man I have a super hard time calling anything cute, but this place is super CUTE. We got there early and our room wasn't ready. Matthew the owner couldn't have been any nicer. He offered to get us some breakfast in the cafe or what ever we wanted. We opted for drinks on the back patio. He commented on how Canadians are known to pour weak drinks and then dumped half a bottle into our cups. Seriously, Matthew couldn't have been any cooler. We sat on the back porch enjoyed our drinks and chatting until our rooms where ready. The rooms are super clean and the motel is calm and quite. It's a perfect representation of beautiful Yarmouth and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The next day Matthew personally drove us back to the port for our cruise home. We will definitely be back. Absolutley loved it. read more

Mixed reviews. Maybe a 2.5 place. The price was right and the place is quaint. However, the room was a little small. We had a "double room" with two queen beds. There were sinks outside of the bathrooms that are convenient but the bathroom itself is quite small. The shower, in particular, was very small. There would be no way to shave your legs. There was also a couple of spiders in the room. Finally, the blinds on the windows are not enough to keep out the light - as it was very bright in the morning. read more

BEWARE! Due to the delays with the ferry terminal in Bar Harbor, we had to cancel both the beginning and end of our Canada VIA Rail trip. (Note that this clueless establishment didn't even know about this critical ferry terminal transportation problem--even thought their business depends upon it!) So despite the fact that nothing was in our control, the owners insisted that a 25% cancellation fee 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 months in advance "is the best we can do." They've already charged us $86.80! When I challenged that they snottily replied: "So because you cannot get your way you are angry with us? I am still not sure why you decided to cancel? The *very is running on the dates of your booking." The Ferry (*not "very") company immediately refunded our full fares and yet this spiteful motel still insists the ferry is operational. Denial and spiteful. NOT the type of company where we want to lay our head. read more

Stay far away from this place as you can. And stay away from its sister motel New Age Inn (Voyageur) as they both are under the same crooked management. I checked in for 5 nights at Lakelawn and paid for all 5 days in advance. After my second night, they called the police on me for no reason and evicted me without telling me why and they wouldn't refund my money for the 3 nights I didn't get to use. I know what you're thinking: He must have done something wrong. I am telling you, I did nothing wrong. I was a quiet guest and I didn't break their rules nor the law in any way whatsoever. I was just sitting outside, minding my own business and the police just showed up at my room and told me they got a complaint (a very vague one) from the management. I was able to finally contact the manager after 2 weeks (they were avoiding my calls) and she offered no explanation as to why I was evicted or why they stole my money. I found another couple later who told me that a very similar situation happened to them at this motel - evicted for no reason and no refund on their unused nights. What you'll get at the Lakelawn is a 20' x 12' filthy room with a 32" TV, no toilet paper, and no phone. The heat doesn't work. The water pressure is weak. The staff is extremely crooked. Find another place to stay, trust me. read more

Many nice things to say... Matthew directed us to a restaurant called Rudders and made us a reservation. The reservation afforded us with a nicer table. The Inn itself is comfortable and very well maintained. Everything is clean..very clean. It's a place you want to hang out. The wifi signal was strong. Complimentary morning coffee is excellent. The only hotel I've been to that has linen that smells like Downy..very fresh. The interior is welcoming and quaint...enough bric-à-brac to make it interesting. Yarmouth surprised us. We felt most at home here and will try our best to return. read more

My husband and I were in Yarmouth due to a death in the family. We stayed at the Lakelawn Motel for 3 nights and were so impressed. The owner was more than accomodating and the room was large and well-appointed. We liked it there so much, we brought 18 of our closest friends and family there for dinner after the service. Stayed here overnight before taking the ferry from Yarmouth to Portland, ME. First impression of the place is very favorable. The outside of the property is certainly well kept with fresh paint. The rooms, however, are standard motel rooms and the bathroom is microscopic. The presence of a microwave and small fridge in each room is a plus, but the lack of a coffee maker is a big minus. Unfortunately, I didn't research this well enough, so it's my fault, but the rooms are NOT air-conditioned so in the summer, it is quite warm, even in the evenings. With the overhead fan and another floor fan going full blast all night, it was still a restless night's sleep. At a price of $175 CAD (incl. taxes), that really bites. A continental breakfast is included with the room rate and this is available at 630AM for those who need to catch the ferry by 730AM, or you can upgrade to a full, deluxe breakfast for $23 CAD more + tax. read more

We stayed at the Lakelawn Motel over the Easter weekend. We loved the eclectic decorations and the coziness of the rooms. Matthew was amazingly helpful and accommodating. Breakfast filled us straight through until supper time. The price was very affordable as well. We agreed on our way home that the Lakelawn Motel will be our base whenever we head to Yarmouth. read more

We took the CAT ferry from Portland to Yarmouth and spent a night at the Lakelawn. Stayed in one of the 'pet friendly rooms' as we were traveling with our pooch. Very convenient to the ferry, Matthew the proprietor is a delightful person, the breakfast was excellent. Our room was basic but comfortable. read more

On our final night in NS this July 2019 we stayed at the Lakelawn B&B and Motel after riding our motorcycles all over the Atlantic Maritimes including Newfoundland. We spent nights in many motels and Lakelawn was surely one of the nicest, for us; we had motel rooms. Clean, roomy enough and comfortable enough, except for the plastic Adirondack chairs outside the unit. I manage my expectations appropriately and am rarely disappointed but, as is usual, some motel rooms in the Maritimes, as elsewhere, are better than others, but the price is hard to beat. Matthew, the owner and host could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We had booked the ferry from Yarmouth to Bar Harbor only to have the service cancelled as work on the BH terminal lagged. As wise travelers we were aware of the situation and also booked the ferry from Digby, a 1.5 hour ride up the 101, so were minimally inconvenienced by the situation and elected to stay at Lakelawn. A wonderful decision. The site is very well kept and gardened, just delightful; the continental b'fast is much more than the norm and the dining area is first class, white table cloths even! I have nothing but satisfaction to report. Only 4 stars you ask? to get five from me I want room service and elevators and my bike washed :-). 4 is the best for my motel experiences and Matthew and Lakelawn deliver on all points. read more
