The staff were all fantastic! There were over 200 kids at camp everyday and they knew us and our child pretty quickly. The camp is somewhat unstructured, there are not naps. There are several themed rooms the kids can choose to work/play in. If I recall correctly there was a singing/recording room, a game room, a programming room, fashion studio, cooking, and a couple others. They can also play outside. Every Friday had a dress up theme. Frequently there was a bouncy house, water apparatus, or other fun structures for the kids to play in. I think the total cost was about $2700 or $3000. Recommended!

At the very start everything seemed ok. But then one beautiful day our company was about to do dance class but once we arrived floors were dirty , full of sand and salt. So instead of apologizes they gave us a broom in a very rude maner. Ok. We cleaned once and we were full of hope that this kind of situation never happens again. Yesterday we came as usual and floors were dirty again. And the manager told us to clean floors again. Wait, wait , wait... THIS STUDIO WAS BOOKED AND PAID . I guess we deserve discount and our salary for cleaning their business space after other customers . By the way they charge cleaning fee from people who left floors dirty, so that basically means that they have to provide cleaning service for next customers. There s a very rude manager who came 10 minutes before our paid time ( Including a fact that we spent 20 minutes to clean space by ourselves just to get what we paid for. Ridiculous .) And after girls asked them to let them finish a lesson for a couple more minutes , he came and just took our equipment out of outlets and told us to leave immediately. Well. I would recommend everyone to avoid this place and their management. By the way we didn't got any apologies and we will continue deal with this situation . I've complained so often but nothing changes. To explain: the air conditioning stays on for 20 minutes at a time and then it stays off for 40 minutes. So the place is constantly hot and humid. It is never a stable temperature or humidity. If there was a way to turn them into the city for an unhealthy and unsafe public space, I would.

Love, love, love A Fairytale Ballet…read more I was desperate to find a drop-in ballet class for a visiting three-year-old this summer, a task that is not easy to do in Chicago, despite the plethora of ballet studios for kids in the city. Most require that students sign up for the entire session, and our little one was only going to be in town for two weeks. After consider Yelping, I found A Fairytale Ballet and discovered that they offered summer camp options in the summer. After a brief email correspondence, I learned that A Fairytale Ballet offers a la carte options during the summer, meaning that children can go once or twice a week for as many weeks as they choose. It's perfect for families going on vacation or testing the ballet waters with a little one. What I really love about A Fairytale Ballet is that they bring literature to life. Each week, the summer camp classes focused on a particular story, such as Beauty and the Beast and Angelina Ballerina. The teacher reads parts of the story each day, and then the students act out the scenes from the book with props that they make themselves. For example, during Beauty and the Beast week, the students decorated notebooks with foam letters and stickers, then danced as Belle, visiting the "bookstore." They put on shawls to "search" for their father in the woods. It was such a wonderful way to help expand children's imaginations and instill a love for literature. And the studio! Absolutely adorable! They've painted the walls with bright, colorful murals that just make you happy to be there. They even have a little door for the students to walk through. Parents can watch the class through the windows, which isn't always allowed at ballet studios, but very much appreciated here since we wanted to take lots of pictures. The teachers are wonderful too. Miss Ashley was absolutely delightful - we really appreciated that she approached us after class to tell us how our little one did. And Miss Dana...well, our little one just loved her. I really cannot say enough good things about the teachers, or the studio for that matter.

I spoke to the manager and she told me there were 300+ kids and that the hadn't anticipated so many meds. I don't feel remotely safe about leaving kids with allergies at this camp. they lacked a single point of contact for emergencies and said "everyone is trained". most camps we've attended have a single person responsible for safety one even had a paramedic. I do not recommend this location if you're managing health conditions.

I've seen countless friendships forged and have even attended a few Smelts weddings--including a couple who met on the team. I've also seen people across ages, swimming abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, geographic, ethnic and religious backgrounds come together to swim and cheer each other on. We have hardcore competitive athletes and causal fitness swimmer who come to practices when they can. They've all been welcomed and, generally, treated with respect. We have a big team, but it doesn't feel that way. The camaraderie exists at the lane level and the team level. You can be as involved as you want--whether simply attending practices from time to time or helping plan the annual pride parade decorations. The only expectation is that you be nice and swim. I mean, you need to know how to swim and follow lane etiquette, but let's start with you joining us for a practice. Pop by and decide for yourself if you want to join. Hope to see you there!

I am an aquatic professional and not only have I been a part of a few masters swim teams I have also been in charge of a few. The biggest thing about the chicago smelts is how unique they are. Here are few interesting facts about the Smelts: 1. Most masters teams are a program within a club, gym, YMCA, etc. Smelts is it's own entity 2. It is a non profit organization. It is not about making money and if any money is left over we always give back to the community. New lane lines to an out door pool we frequent, money to help with the swim team at Gill park, donation made to other local charities. We even do fundraising at events to help raise extra money for this reason. 3. It is run by volunteers. Everyone who coaches puts their time and energy in for the team. it is run by a board of members and not one single coach is paid. This means they do it because they love it. It's not just another job for them. 4. It's a family. Lots of teams I've seen it's people paying for a service. You go in, get your coached workout and then leave. That's it. Do not expect that from this team. There are some pretty close connections with the members of this team. Best friends formed, marriages, etc. have been created through this team. Some people rely on the friends they have found on this team as if they were family. There are always non sponsored events happening. Once a month a group of people plan a monthly 5K. Do we always get along with everyone, NO. Why should you. There are a ton of people on this team and if everyone got along with everyone then I think we would have found world peace by now. Gill park is a park district pool we utilize but it is not ours. We have no control of how the locker rooms, showers, pool area is run. That is all up to the Chicago Park District. We do our best to try and help out. Remember the raising money I talked about earlier well that's helped pay for some of the improvements made in the facility. We do what we can to help out but in the end it's up to the City of Chicago. I have been on this team for about 6 years and never have I seen a group of committed individuals as this one here. when you talk about goals for state meets many people do not list their times as their goal but how many new people they can meet in the weekend. If you are looking for a team that has no passion, you just want to go in and out without making friends along the way, you want everything to be done for you and want nothing to do with anything that requires the littlest bit of your time and energy outside of the pool then this may not be the place for you. We are about living life, making friends, having fun, and enjoying adventures together.

It was a fast paced class to keep kids' interest, but everything was clear and perfectly tailored to toddlers. As a former early childhood teacher myself, I was highly impressed! I reached out initially to them via email and Kallie replied since they hadn't posted their fall schedule mid summer but she promised to email me as soon as they released. A month later she sweetly sent me an email notifying me (I was impressed she remembered!). Unfortunately being west coast based, the live class times were too early for us on weekends and my son wasn't keen on an on demand class. I wasn't too sure what to do with the gift certificate and Kallie explained that although their focus isn't on retail sales there were some items they stock and she sweetly took pictures and my gift certificate was able to cover some lovely items (including recipe cards for my son's gluten free diet). I was so impressed how Kallie went so above and beyond that if we were living in Chicago would be frequenting this spot often given their exemplary level of customer service.
