I've never known about this place before, but only stumbled upon it because of the Walker Preserve. This park is off Industry Rd. but also has a entrance on Channel road down the street. The walker preserve path dumps right onto the trail in the back of the park towards the golf course. When walking through the park you have plenty of trees giving shade, a well defined path and a nice look out point to the lake towards the end. All the fences were shut when I was here but it appears there are trails that go around the lake as well. The park is relatively clean and up kept for the most part. The trails are multi use for bikes, runners, and horses. The parking lot on Channel rd. is big enough for horse trailers.

Nice jogging trail , but it has a very look but don't touch appeal which I something I can't stand. The water mark is open to the public regardless of what the sign's say. I grew up fishing the whole chain so I hope this trend does not continue. It would be very cool if this trail went all the way to the ocean. Although there is a monstrous task to under take for that to happen. Homeless drug addicts and illegal aliens infest several parts . Seeing the river cleaned up would be great but keep it accessible to fish! Very few free outdoor type stuff for kids to do nowadays .

Ask the Community - Lakeside's River Park

As a kid I lived on river view would fish bile swim and ride my dirt bike back than was known as the sand pitts. My question is this can you now kayak the river bottom?

Thank you very much for asking! The stretch of the San Diego River under the care of Lakeside's River Park Conservancy is responsible for the very delicate habitat surrounding the river. We ask that our policy of no fishing or kayaking be… Read more

At the time of my visit, it was only open on Sundays (9am-4pm from October - July; Closed August - September) and guests need to register online (https://www.sandiegoaudubon.org/what-we-do/silverwood.html). Signup is easy and it's a free experience. On my visit my friend and I came around 10am and were greeted by a volunteer at the entrance. We were told to write our name in the check in so that they could track all visitors. No dogs allowed (unless it's a guide dog) as I recalled the volunteer informing another guest about the rule as my friend and I started the trial. There were definitely a lot of bugs, but the trial was clear and within 8 minutes or so we made it to the bird watching observation area, which included a couple of seats and bird feeders. It was extremely peaceful and I loved seeing the quails chase each other and the different colored birds visiting the feeders. I noticed in the back area a table so it would a cool place to enjoy a picnic with family. I really liked seeing all the beautiful flowers and while I did not hike the other trails I think if you're looking to get away and be one with nature this is a really cool free activity to enjoy

I parked on the street, so I visited the recreation building for a bit, but there's a drive that goes up a hill to enter the actual parking lot. The park sport restrooms, a playground, picnic tables, and a large grassy area with a slight decline. I was most pleased with the trail that headed up a moderate hill pass a seasonal stream, and up and around the park, until it offers a scenic view from the top of the park. There were benches here and there and trash cans along the trail. It's a nice family park.

I found it to be a clean well maintained hidden gem with a grassy field a playground picnic tables and hiking trail with a cool footbridge that crosses the dry Creek. I'll definitely return in our rainy season to see the creek with water in it. The one thing I did not like or appreciate about this park is the same thing I don't like about many San Diego County Parks. The restroom offer no privacy for it's visitors because the stalls have no doors . This provided a scene that will forever be etched in my mind AND was equally embarrassing for the other restroom user. It also robbed the Park of the Five Star review it so richly deserved. The park is also home to a recreation Center which I did not visit. I took a small walk on the trail. My podiatrist instructed me to give up hiking. I have it up cold turkey with not even one hike on 5 years. I now go on nature walks. it has servede well.. After my walk I sat at a picnic table where I relaxed, read from Mark Atteberry's book, "The Caleb Quest ' and did some people watching. There were dog walkers, fathers walking with sons, and moms with children on swings and slides. One thing I didn't see was a single form of wildlife. No birds, squirrels, butterflies. I don't recall even seeing a single ant. After my nice visit to the park . I went to New Century Buffet where the restroom wasichore aligned with my standards. I'll be back!

We just wanted her to have an activity after school that would burn some energy. But my complaints are that the gym seems dirty and run down. I'm sure (hope?) they clean but it just seems run down. The girls bathroom is dirty/dinghy and always smells like a clogged toilet. I feel like the administrative/customer service side of things, they aren't 100% on top of it. They are slow to respond to emails, or just don't send their emails when they say they will. My other daughter that was going through evals to move up; the coach said they would email us and let us know her scores and if she was moving up or not, and we just never got an email from anyone. I've also heard from friends that they are not inclusive to autistic kids or kids with Down syndrome- stating they "don't have insurance for THAT." Don't really want to give my money to a gym that refers to kids in such a way. Also read up on some allegations about the owner that I would encourage others to look into.
