This place is beautiful and the server was professional. The Hawaiian Burger is a bit of a disaster. Spicy Sweet? More like drippy mess. Make sure to hang it over your plate for a good 4 min before attempting to eat it. Why such a slim plate? It's not big enough to eat over and catch this drippy mess. How about serving with paper napkins? The taste is meh to be generous. This burger was a miss for me. The other food at the table looks good. Apparently the Coleslaw is meh, too bad it looks good. I loved the fries, but the gravy is a hard pass. Definitely a powdered mix, yuck! read more

Horrible experience with bed bugs! This was my family's first time at Lakeview resort Heckla Island. Checked in at 5:00pm, ate supper and went for swim. Just before bedtime at 11:00pm, we decided to check the bed and under the mattress cover seen bed bugs (see pics below ) Went to front desk and the night shift worker put us in another room (pet room) down the hall. Inconvenience of late night packing and sleepless night wondering if bed bugs were also in the pet room. Next morning I spoke to the manager and he told me it was NOTHING and room was going to be off limits until they bring in an exterminator, he offered no real explanation and basically didn't care about the issue, telling me he would contact me if they found bedbugs he would credit me for the stay. The manager said that he didn't think that they were bed bugs! Like who would sleep in a bed with any type of bug??? No apologies for the inconvenience or even a simple discount. To top it off, they tried to charge us an additional night. My first and last time going to this Resort. Poor customer service and treatment from Manager! Beware of BED BUGS!!! Now to wash ever single item we packed read more

While planning a trip to Hecla Resort we received very poor customer service. The trip was intended to be a get away for myself and a friend. When booking we were told we didn't need dinner reservations and that the spa was currently not taking bookings because the spa menu was being updated for spring and to call back in two weeks. Then when I called to book at the spa I was told there was a group reservation and the spa would be unavailable for four days. I emailed the general manager twice and received no response both times. I also called and left a message which was not returned. We would have changed our reservation to a different date but by the time we were told about the group reservation taking up the entire spa, all the dates we were able to go were booked. I now suspect the message about the spa menu being updated was a lie while they were waiting to confirm the group booking because nothing seems to have changed on the spa menu. We also received an email saying that we need to make dinner reservations when I was told over the phone that they don't do reservations. Very poor customer service and left me feeling very disappointed before I've even had a chance to stay. read more

Spent 3 days at this resort with our dog, and even with the extreme weather, our stay was fantastic. The room was accommodating, the adult only pools were a welcome surprise, the food and services were amazing. Had a great experience and look forward to making this part of our winter getaway. read more

We went on a weeknight and had a great experience. It wasn't very crowded. It was my partner's birthday and front desk offered us a complimentary slice of cake at the restaurant. I wish I remember the name of the night waitress. We told her we'd be coming in after we dried off from the pool. She had our table set when we got back. The service was really amazing. Same with the evening conciergewho was really friendly and helpful. The daytime concierge was not as attentive or helpful but she was nice. We ate from the late night menu and it was just basic diner food. I was expecting something more sophisticated but noticed afterwards the wood oven for pizza and realized we probably should have taken advantage of that. The spa facilities were great. The hot tub was actually hot unlike thermea. I really liked the rock pool which felt amazing in my feet and the Jets in the medium heat mineral pool. The steam room could have been a bit stronger. It is generally great but there are a lot of superficial esthetic things keeping it from it's full potential. Like an ugly essential oil bottle in the steam room, chipping paint, bits of moss on the tile. Some small changes can really take the class of the place up. All in all if much rather spend a night here then go to thermea for the same price. The surroundings and the marsh land in the way up we're really gorgeous too. I preferred the pool selection and really felt the benefit of the minerals. read more

My wife and I decided to take a nice day trip out Helca Island for a hike then a late lunch. When we arrived at the Lakeview Resort Restaurant after our hike it was not busy and most of the staff were standing around the bar talking very loudly to each other (which occurred the entire duration of our stay). Our server was a young Asian woman I believe her name was Jenn and she was most definitely under the influence of alcohol. Not only could we smell it on her breath but her eyes were also very red and glossy. My wife ordered the club sandwich and I had the fish and chips, there was nothing special about any of it. The fries were cold, chicken over cooked and had a charred taste to it. My fish tasted like it was already pre battered and then flash fried once ordered (best described as soggy) and my tartar sauce looked like it was old; there was a thick yellow layer on top darker than the inside of the sauce, it was most likely sitting somewhere in the ramikin uncovered for sometime so I opted out of trying it just to be safe and asked for a new one but never did received another. After waiting a very long time for our server to come back from what was clearly her smoke break (very unprofessional in my opinion to take a smoke break in the middle of serving a table) she came to our table not only reeking of hard alcohol again but cigarettes now too, we asked if there was a manager we could speak too. For some reason it did not seem like there was a responsible adult around anywhere to supervise the very young abnoxious staff which was very alarming. A young man named Steve approached our table (he walked over from the bar where the rest of the staff and what looked to be their friends drinking were all talking and joking around) stating that he was a supervisor but we were skeptical of this because he was acting much more like a friend to the staff and customers at the bar then a supervisor although he was dressed differently from the serving staff he was not acting as a supervisor would and should. We told him about our food and he offered to get us new meals but we were full because we had already eaten most of it as our server was gone right after our food was in front of us so there was no one to notify about it as all the other staff were preoccupied gossiping at the bar. He offered to take a percentage off of our bill which was nice but when we got the bill it said "$5 off Simply Green" or something of that nature which was odd because I know at when we stayed at the Lakeview in Gimli we had to get a coupon from the front desk and re use our towels to use that discount at their restaurant. We paid our bill anyways and left still not seeing any adult manager around. We had mentioned to Steve about our concern for the young woman serving us and her being under the influence of alcohol before we left and he thanked us and said that he would address the problem but as we were leaving we could see and hear him telling her but still laughing about it at the same time which was even more concerning so I had decided to email the actual management staff. Someone named Jeff returned my email the next day saying he would look into it further but my wife and I working in the hospitality business most of our lives both knew there would be no possible way of him knowing or finding out whether or not one of his members of staff was drinking on the job the day after. In my opinion there should always be a manager on duty and it should be the GM's top priority to answer back emails from customers right away especially in this day and age we all know we have access to them literally at the touch of our finger tips. We were very unimpressed right from the get go and then having to wait until the next day to hear back from the GM just topped it off. If this is how this place is being managed and supervised then I am very, very concerned about the entire hotels well-being not just only the restaurants. The staff were very abnoxious, immature and unprofessional whether they were working or not they were very disruptive and not very helpful at all. Staff drinking on the job should be a number one concern and be dealt with immediately in this industry. The next time we decide to go out for a hike that way we will most definitely be driving past this resort and going straight to the Gull Harbour Marina. read more
