This is the place you go to where you want a good fix of comfort food. Carne Asada Burrito - $12.59 - Steak burrito smothered in cheese. Seasoning is good. It's heavy but delicious. 5/5 stars. Steak Tacos - $12.59 - Everything was well seasoned. Double wrapped corn tortillas, which should be the standard everywhere. Husband really loved the side of bean soup. It was pretty flavorful and heavily spiced. 5/5 stars. Rice and beans were both good. It's typical rice and beans. I'd definitely eat here again. Check out the daily specials. This is my 2nd visit to this place and the first time the tacos were really good. The chips and salsa were below average. The chips were greasy but crunchy, and the salsa had a mix of 'Tajin' flavor.... This time I ordered steak tacos and pastor, my wife ordered pozole. The pastor taco was tasty but on both the steak and this one the tortillas were deepened in oil trying to get them soft. First time they were soft tortillas. The pozole had cabbage instead of lettuce and did not have any hominy (maíz pozolero), it was also very greasy. Wasn't asked about a refill. Too bad we had this experience on this visit. Needed some Mexican food in my life. Got the lunch special. Taco and an enchilada. Chicken enchilada was very tasty. The ground beef taco hit the spot. Chili rellenos were great! Chips and salsa were very good. Almost got a pint to take away. The sign said all of your party needs to be present to be seated. We were seated ASAP. Rest of party showed up 5 minutes later. Another good visit to Lalos! The facility is still open, welcoming and comfortable. I think they have better organized the dinning room. Things seem to flow and move well. There was plenty of staff to serve and keep the chips, salsa and drinks flowing. My wife had the Don Pacho Tacos. She enjoyed the tender beef and fresh seasonings. She found the pinto bean style beans to be a more enjoyable option than the usual refried beans. I had the enchiladas ranchitos. I loved the gooey cheese filling. The red beef sauce was a good accent to the cheese taste. The meat was also very tender. The sauce had a nice tomato base and seasoning without being hot and overly spicy. Overall I'm still impressed with Lalos food. I tell people Lalos food is gourmet Mexican food. The quality and freshness of ingredients is outstanding. What is going on with this place? The food was pretty tasty the last time we dined here but this time around the food and the service was just terrible. Our server's cell phone actually started ringing while she was taking our order. I thought no biggie, she forgot to turn the ringer off and I just figured she would silence it and finish taking our order. But, that is NOT what she did! She took a step back and actually answered her phone!!! As if that wasn't bad enough, she never checked on us and stood at the host stand...ON HER PHONE. There were things we needed but she never came back around. We even had to interrupt her as she was ON HER PHONE to get our check. We absolutely will NEVER return. This is a great little Mexican spot! My husband stopped by here one day on his way home because I said I wanted Mexican food and I didn't care where it was from. He brought it home and it was so good that we went in to eat a week later. The service was great! She even changed the TV at the bar for us so we could watch the game. The food was great! Their salsa especially!! I love that they have your normal: quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and fajitas section on their menu. But then they even have a section that says "authentic", which I appreciate! There was a decent crowd for a Sunday night. I love to see people supporting local! The parking lot was a bit packed when we got there, but there were still several places to park and we didn't mind the short walk to the restaurant. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted and welcomed to a table. The place was quite busy but all of the staff were on top of things and ready to help wherever needed. Miguel L. was our server, he took the time to talk to us about authentic mexican food and suggested we try a taco with chorizo and steak next time, he was very excited to tell us about real mexican food which was fun to learn about also he was really nice and friendly. Mom tried their hot sauce, which to give some context it's kind of like Taco Bell's lava sauce, but spicier and better, and she said "I may have to jump in your margarita because my mt dew isn't big enough". She loved the hot sauce and the fact that Miguel was on top of our drink situation. That's how she judges the quality of a place, on whether or not servers keep up with the drinks and asks about refills. Miguel was on the ball with the drinks and also miguel was super nice and asked my mom if I'd be okay getting home cuz i was drinking and had a huuuuge margarita. I didnt catch that until after mom said I was good and that she was the one driving. This is the first place I've been to where they checked to make sure I was okay getting home, which I really appreciate. I've been to several bars and taverns and nobody once asked if my friends and I would be okay to get home. Miguel didn't have to take the time to make certain I'd be okay, but he did anyway. He's a cool upstanding guy and a great server. Because the place was pretty busy it was a bit loud but thats okay. The ambience was great and Miguel mentioned that sometimes they have a mariachi band that performs there. The service is always quick. The staff is always very attentive even when they are super busy. In my opinion, Lalos is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. We probably come here 3x a month, or maybe even more. Within less than one minute of being seated, chips and salsa will be ready on your table. They have very good ceviche here and their siete mares soup is my favorite. It is a lot of seafood for the price you pay. Large and festive interior with common Mexican decor. Despite the large restaurant, the parking area was quite cramped. Service was mediocre at best (i.e. having to ask for more salsa when the carafe was clearly empty and then not bringing additional chips with the salsa). The chips and salsa tasted fresh. The food came out fast--too fast! This (and the fact that it was only lukewarm) let me know that it was precooked and probably sitting on a steam table in the kitchen. I ordered Enchiladas Acapulco (seafood enchiladas) and was disappointed to see them filled with imitation crab meat and the tiny salad shrimp. I won't make that mistake again. The rice that came with the meal was fluffy and seasoned well and almost good...aside from also not being hot. Would I return? This place is delicious!!! I love their chipotle quesadilla and their horchata! It is always quick when getting food out. Their service is fast and they are kind at this place. There is not a whole lot of seating because it isn't a huge place. However, they do not take reservations. They also will not seat you until your whole party is there. read more

We were in Fort Wayne for a tournament and I usually try to eat a a Mexican Restaurant. We decided to try this one out, since it was close to where we were at. The parking lot was packed, so I was excited to see what they had to offer! We walked in and and it was very packed inside, but they were able to seat us quickly. The place was obviously on the noisy side, but that didn't matter. The waitress was really nice and came to take our drink order. I always like to try the Agua de Horchata, because they do not all taste the same; so I ordered one and my son ordered a soft drink. The Agua de Horchata was huge and very tasty.....one of the best I have tasted. The waitress gave us a few minutes to look at the menu and then came back to take our order. I asked if they had nachos with shrimp and she said no, but she can put in an order of ground beef nachos and add shrimp to it. I said that would be ok as long as it wasn't going to be like $10 for two shrimp and she laughed and said, "Oh no, it won't be that much"; so I said ok. My son asked if the nachos came with the white cheese sauce and she said it did. I ordered the Pollo Monterrey (I believe that's what it was called) and the menu said it came cheese sauce and I asked if this was the same white cheese sauce that comes in the nachos and she said yes (I love the white cheese sauce ); it also came with an order of tortillas and I chose the corn tortillas. A few minutes later our food came out and the presentation was awesome; it looked amazing and I just knew it was going to taste good! We started eating our food and after a couple of bites I noticed I had no white cheese sauce and neither did my son's nachos....AND his nachos only came with five pieces of shrimp. We didn't ask the waitress about it because she was very busy. I continued eating my food and the chicken didn't have any flavor (no seasoning), the only thing giving it flavor was the cheese, green peppers, mushrooms and onions that were loaded on top. I was going to make a taco with the tortillas that came with the order (I am just weird like that‍), but I couldn't because the tortillas were all stuck together and they had been sitting on the warmer for quite some time; the side that was on the warmer was hard as a rock. The rice was ok....kind of dry. My son also said his nachos were not all that; they were lacking flavor and the cheese sauce was missing. Once we got our bill, we found out the cost of five shrimp was almost $9. Overall: The meal was decent, but lacking flavor. The Agua de Horchata was tasty! A very bad experience with the rude and MOCKING staff. After reading other facebook and yelp reviews, I'm not the only one. I organized a 10 person workgroup. 4 of us showed up first, the other 5 would arrive 15 minutes later. We 4 had sat at a table in the middle to allow joined tables, there were 3 tables of 16 tables full. The 5th showed up and sat at a open table next to us and I went to join him for inclusion. The manager "Angel" explained we 2 would have to leave our 4 place table next to coworkers and move to the bar. 5 minutes later 3 more of our coworkers arrived, the waitress and manager REFUSED to let us have the 6 place table next to our coworkers. Our annual black Friday shopping always lands us at a mexican restaurant for lunch. We arrived and were seated immediately. It was a busy place the whole time we were there. Our waiter came quickly to get a drink order and bring water. We ordered the seafood nachos. I am not a huge seafood person but those I was with are so I gave it a try. They were decent but definitely made for the seafood lover as they do have a different taste. The lunch portion of chicken fajitas is my favorite at most mexican restaurants so I went with that and I wasn't disappointed. I asked for not tomato and they must have forgotten because it arrived with tomato but I have no problem just picking them out and proceeding with my meal. Somewhere near the end of my 2nd tortilla full of fajitas I suddenly was feeling a tingling on my tongue which proceeded to turn into a more fiery feeling. I started digging into it and found a piece of fresh jalapeno which appeared to be in the guacamole. It was a surprise because I hadn't noticed it the entire 1st one. It didn't bother me but if you're not a spicy person then you might want to be careful with how much of the guac you're putting onto your tortillas. This is the worst dining establishment in Fort Wayne. They will not seat you if your entire party is not present, but only if they think your party is too large. They have no number of people on their rule sign when you walk in, so they just make it up as they go. On top of that, last time I was in there my mother in law asked for the owners contact information because of how unprofessional the manager and host (who probably could not see through her extremely bushy and terrible eyelashes) and they refused to give her the information. The manager actually stood there and smirked at her while shaking her head. On top of that, they do not card anyone for alcohol, even after getting their liquor license taken once. This establishment is trashy, unprofessional, and all around a terrible place to visit. The food is nothing to write home about either. Typical fake Mexican food and premade margaritas. Been there twice. The last time was 6-17-21 at 4:30 PM, the first time was great food, great service, good value. Yesterday was different, we ordered a Lalos chicken burrito and got beef. We ordered nachos locos which was a pile of chips, a pile of beef, a pile of 1/2" sliced onions a pile of jalapeños. The first time we had nachos locos it was a large plate of individual chips with meat, cheese and peppers with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole were on the side. Went ahead and ate it, but was sorry I did at 3 AM in the bathroom and 3:10 and 3:15. My wife had similar outcome. Friendly, quick, and delicious- you should give this place a try. We ordered veggie fajitas and a seafood quesadilla and both were less than $11.
