I love this spot! I brought a gaggle of kids here one weekend, they were not my kids nor am I the pied piper. My friend's worn out sister's and hubbie's little darling was turning seven so she just had to have a big birthday party. Out of concern for their mental state we volunteered to take the kids here. This place used to be so much better. Fabulous for parties and a guaranteed place for at least half of your second class friends' parties per year. Good wholesome fun...proper puppeteering followed by homemade cupcakes? C'est parfait! However, with the gradual ageing of the Lamberts, the theatre seems to have become more and more decrepit. I'm not so sure if I would recommend it anymore, as it sullies my memories.... Sad but true... read more

I didn't get in much past the front door... but I'm not going to let that minor fact stop me from writing a review! ...Junior, however, managed to swing an invite to a birthday party, so he got the full experience; 2 shows, party, cake, & games... all laid on as part of the birthday package. Birthday Party --- was fantastic. They even order the pizza. Had our daughter's 7th party there today and could not be happier. We do go at least once a year, but this show was the best. If you have not been to the Lambert Puppet Theatre, you should make a visit. Good value for the amount to time you and the kids get to see puppetry, artistic design, and more (much better than an olde movie). The kids were laughing, screaming, claping, etc. read more

Never go back if you want to keep the good memories you have intact about this place, my memories were shattered when we were greeted outside the theater (me and my little 6 yr old) by 3 smoking members of staff, this really did shock me given this venue is supposed to be tailored for children, I would have turned on my heels right then had I not have (regretfully) hyped up this visit to Irelands only puppet theatre based on my own wonderful memories. When we got to our seats well, hard benches actually, we were greeted by a spot-lit 'master of ceremonies' who really looked quite scruffy and unkempt and spoke in almost aggressive tones. After the lights went down the public address system blared with ear splitting music which really gave my little girl a fright! In short we had to claw our way out through the darkness and leave, I felt I really let down my lovely daughter and I still feel bad about it a month later. It was so sad the passing of the great Eugene Lambert, surely this is not his legacy, that wonderful man deserves much better? I can only hope that they make some major changes in the near future if they don't wish to sink altogether! What a magical place that was full of a welcoming atmosphere when the wonderful Eugene was there. I really hope the Lambert's or whoever is running the place gets there act together! Jo read more
