I have been a patient of Dr. Lamy for about 15 years. I would recommend him to others. Reading through the reviews on here is frustrating as many of the negative comments below are one-sided and not what I have experienced. Let me give it to you straight...the good and the bad. You will likely have to wait. - This frustrates me as much as anyone. I would love to see Dr. Lamy's practice improve in this area. If I know that I will be in a rush, I schedule my appointment first thing in the morning before things back up. If you always in a hurry or get really upset when delayed, this office might not be right for you. He spends lots of time with his patients. - This is likely one of the major reasons we all wait so much. When he comes into your room, he spends quite a bit of time really understanding you and listening. If I had to chose between waiting and quality time vs. no wait and a quick in-and-out visit, I would choose to wait. I didn't really trust doctors before coming to Dr. Lamy's practice. I never felt comfortable talking about my body or its problems. He recognized that and helped me be at ease. Because he took extra time to talk and listen, he picked up on clues that led to a diagnosis that could have easily been missed. My life and health is better because of the extra time he has spent with me. His office decor is out of the 80's. - The office decor has not been updated since my first visit many year ago. That said, it is always clean and work areas are always neat aside from a stack of charts they are working on. The office building itself was just renovated in the last year...before that I never really realized how dated his office was. The lab waiting room is right next to the restrooms and there is no drawer to put samples in (as someone else mentioned) so you put the sample on a designated table next to the technician. Never really bothered me...it's just pee...everybody pees. He is caring, compassionate, and knows when to push. - For many years he pushed me regarding my weight and exercise. At every appointment we would discuss it and he would encourage me. About a year ago, he asked me in a very direct way how I expected things to change if I didn't put in the work. It was just what I needed to hear; I have lost nearly 40lbs and am now approaching my ideal weight. He is thoughtful about the medicine he prescribes. - My experience has been that he prefers natural solutions to easy fixes. When my cholesterol was too high, he started with niacin supplements and pushed for dietary change/exercise before we tried anything else. When I reported sleep problems, he sent me for testing before giving me the sleeping pills I requested. When my sleep disorder was diagnosed, he helped me find the right mix of medicines and dosing times so that my trouble sleeping was managed as part of my overall care as opposed to a single pill for each separate issue. He will listen to your feedback and respond. - He misspelled my name up my Rx on one occasion several years ago and I told him how frustrating it was having to wait at the pharmacy and then return to get a new one and wait for him to write it. He listened and apologized. What's more, he remembers and has asked me to confirm that everything is correct every time he hands me a new one. If you have a concern, tell him, he will listen and take appropriate action. Thats my take. After 15 years, I still recommend Dr. Lamy to my friends and family. Dr Lamy is incompetent and his staff as well. Our Mother trusted him with her care for several years, seeing him for CARE as an 85 year older Mother of 5. In the last 2 months or more of appointments, he gave her medication for an urinary tract infection, scheduled her physical therapy for strengthening her legs and muscles because he said she was just 85 and loosing muscle tone. We requested a wheelchair, oxygen, bloodwork. Mother should have been admitted to the hospital for just her symptoms alone. When she fell to the floor twice from not having any strength, cold and sweating, sleeping most of her days, we admitted Mother to the hospital ourselves. Dr Lamy how did you miss terminal cancer through most of her organs?!?! Mother died trusting you Sir. We asked to talk with Dr Lamy at his office, he agreed and had our meeting set by his staff. I have been a regular patient for over 20 years.Their management team is horrendous. On 12/26/2025 I had a scheduled appointment at 2:40pm as a result of a phone in visit for 12/19/2025. On arrival on 12/26/2025 I was asked for proof of Insurance which I didn't have that day. They then tried to charge me $150 for this visit. I had to call my insurance to clear up the issue. Then they said they couldn't see me And I am already at the office they wanted to reschedule my visit because of their incompetence the receptionist was rude and dismissive. The office staff is super rude; no office etiquette! The little girls at the front that answer phones! They had me on hold 30 minutes! I hung up and called right back. The girl that answered just said Dr Lamy office, hold. I told her they just had me on hold for 30 minutes. She hung up on me. Now today, I called about the same matter and they said I needed to come in and pay ANOTHER office copay to get the same papers filled iut that wasn't completed on my recent visit. Plus I had to pay another 3% because I sued my debit card. So I told her I wanted to cancel and come in person. Mind you I had just made the appt on the call. And because I didn't want to go thru with it she told me I would be charged a $50 no show fee. And before I could respond she hung up in my face! So I called back. A new person answered and said the appt had been canceled and a $50 copay was added to my account! I went ahead and did the visit but they can bet I'm moving my business somewhere else! Please Read: After coming to Dr.Lamy for four years, I finally had to pull the plug. 5 months after my physical, I found out I had an abnormal pap smear, ONLY because the receptionist finally did some digging as to why they had not refilled a prescription of mine. 5 months. It took 5 months for a physician to notify their patient about test results that have an impact on my life. Above all, physicians are supposed to cause no harm. Leaving me in the dark about my results (no calls, no voicemails, nothing), is complete negligence. If I could give Dr lamy a zero I would. DO NOT choose Dr. Lamy as your pcp. He has horrible bedside manner and accused me of being misdiagnosed of an illness I had for well over 10 years. He wanted me to come back for serval follow up visits to prove that I actually have my medical diagnosis. Please stay away and find a professional provider with better bedside manner , who listens and avocates for his patients. I've never had such a consistently frustrating experience with a business in my life. And it being with something as important as a PCP is next level bad. Over my 2+ years of coming here on several occasions I've had to wait over an hour from my appointment time before I'm even seated in a room, which then takes over a half hour sometimes before I'm seen for just 5 minutes or less before feeling rushed out and not fully listened to. It's a shame I had to wait this long before changing doctors after having so many hours of my time wasted. Don't make the same mistake me and all of these other reviewers did. Do not recommend, trying to find a new family doctor. First warning should have been they want your co-pay before you even come into the office, OK that's fine but I was driving and could not give them the information. My insurance just got billed for an appointment seven years ago. Crazy!!! How are they not shut down?

DO NOT GO HERE- seriously don't do it. I went here due to it being conveniently located near my office. I have given them 5 different opportunities, but each time they have either had me wait 1 hour 30 or on 4 different occasions I had to call to have them send my prescription to the right pharmacy- since CVS no longer took BSBC. one time I have to call each day of the week because they simply wouldn't send it until finally a full week after my appointment I called 3 times in one day and they finally sent it to the correct pharmacy. This is medicine that I need and they sent it to the wrong one over 5 times, at which point CVS called and said they were blocking the script from coming though and the CVS pharmacist even said they needed to get it together..... Each time I called dr. Lamby office i confirmed the address and number that they had in file for the pharmacy that I used. The kicker- I'm prescribed adderall & have been since I was 15 (now 25) so a full 10 years of being very familiar with the dosage. Today I went to go pick up my prescription- which yet again was sent to the wrong pharmacy (a CVS instead of Walgreens even though at this point I have asked them and confirmed the change of pharmacy which I have now been using for 4 months) AND I GOT THE WRONG PRESCRIPTION! They prescribed dextroamp-amphetamin & as someone who has been taking adderall for 10 years- they are indeed not the same at all. The NP, May, is amazing- but the actual doctor seems like a bad salesmen. If you go here only see May. I kept trying to make it work- but after this I won't be returning. If you value your time, go elsewhere. We were in-between physicians for our daughters, so my husband began bringing the girls to Dr. Lamy's practice since he is a patient there. My husband usually makes appointments on his scheduled off days. Once I had to take our daughter for a fever we couldn't keep down. Fortunately, since she was feverish, she slept. I waited TWO HOURS in the waiting room. AFTER MAKING AN APPOINTMENT. There were still a couple people ahead of me. I was already put off. After asking about how much longer we might have to wait, I noticed children behind the reception area/where they keep records. I also overheard a parent or employee instructing a child to put a document in another place. Why? Why was a child back there? Like many offices, law and medical offices are no place for backup childcare. After more waiting in the exam room, the PA (we never saw Dr. Lamy) said my child needed a chest x-ray (I didn't think she did, but whatever), which they did in the office. However, the tech said "I've never done one on a baby before..." It took about 3 times to get a decent film. We waited more for her to return, only to tell me my child didn't have pneumonia. I knew that. I've since found another pediatric group (thank God!). HOWEVER, there was a problem getting their medical records from Dr. Lamy's office to the new pediatrician. I would call Jessica repeatedly and tell her where to send the records. The new doctor's office never did receive the records. Their new doctor's nurse finally took over calling Dr. Lamy's office to request the records. The straw that broke the camel's back enough to leave a Yelp review? We received a $50 statement from Dr. Lamy's office for a missed appointment. There's no way we missed canceling the appointment. I remember my husband doing it. The $50 bill wasn't the problem. It wasn't that they said we didn't cancel (even though we did). The problem I had was that the statement was dated December 2014 and the postmark was July. I have fairly simple needs so I generally do not need much time in the room with a doctor, however every time I have been here, I have waited a minimum of 45 minutes after my appointment time (despite arriving early), I have waited over an hour past my appointment time on numerous occasions. The staff is generally friendly, but they seem to be stretched VERY thin. I always feel as though I am cattle being moved in and out as quickly as possible as opposed to a human being in need of medical care. While I've never had a truly awful experience here, I would not recommend this practice to anyone. To their credit, Claudia and Victor have been very helpful and seem to be very good at their jobs, but if I wanted to wait for hours in silence I'd just as soon go to Franklin's Barbecue on a Saturday. read more

Well I'm actually glad I was not seen after reading these reviews! I contacted this office and booked an appointment. I showed up the next day and they couldn't find me on their appointment roster, but then they said they'd try to fit me in - nice, thank you! Well then they asked for my insurance card, which I don't have because I could not find it (my fault, 100%). When I told them I'd give them my SSN number, the lady proceeded to say I needed my card otherwise I would be considered self-pay without it. PUH-LEASE!!! I have worked in healthcare for over 15 years and you can verify that information with a SSN very, VERY easily! You don't turn people away for not having a measly card!! read more

So, I changed insurance during open season and scheduled a new patient appointment . I put down a $25 deposit, to reserve the appointment. I decided to stay with my old insurance and doctor. I called Dr. Lamy's office and cancelled the appointment. A month early I might add. Two weeks and four phone calls later, I still have not received my $25 deposit back. I have even left a message with the office manager. I'm so glad I didn't change doctors. I can see why there are so many negative reviews. read more

Awful. Went here for an INS medical exam. They did not disclose how much each vaccine would cost even after the patient asked the doctor DIRECTLY. The total cost was $400 dollars more than the original quote. When it was time to pick up the paperwork, a call was made in advance to verify if we could easily pick up the papers needed. Waited 45 minutes for the doctor when they repeatedly kept saying he would be with us shortly. Because we had it and were about to leave, a medical assistant finally talked to us for one minute and gave our papers. What an incompetent place this is. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. This is hands down the worst doctor appointment experience I've ever had. I arrived at 11:15a and at 1:10p, I demanded a refund on the $25 copay. I was NEVER able to see a doctor within those two hours and the staff couldn't have cared less. They never apologized and kept placing blame on me because I scheduled on a Saturday. The staff was so unprofessional. The PA had chuck Taylor's and torn jeans on. The receptionist even asked me questions about helping him with his iPad problems (once he found out I worked for Apple). I tried to prevent this from happening by calling the office the day before and asking all necessary questions. I even had the receptionist create another appointment 15 minutes after the one I created through Zocdoc just so this didn't happen. After all of the waiting for 2 hours, I STILL NEVER EVEN SEEN THE DOCTOR!! I never received 1 apology. Instead I was treated like I should've know that this office is extremely crappy. Dr. Lamy originally prescribed me to avoid certain stimuli that exacerbated my condition. He recommended and authorized (with a signature and on paperwork!) a very specific action. Among prescribing me medicines for disorders I do not have, that did not help, the final piece of paperwork came in for him to authorize the restriction. He refused to do it, even though he was the one that signed off on it originally. They were unable to come up with a reasonable explanation why he wouldn't authorize something he had already authorized and signed! By doing so he is telling me to deal with the very things he told me to avoid in the first place/ I feel lied to and betrayed after a couple years of this being my PCP. None of the other individuals in charge of my case were able to come up with a reasonable explanation either. Oh and of course they still want close to $1000. This is shadiness at its max. I will be reporting this to my insurance provider as well. Find a better doctor. Preferably one that won't change his mind when it comes down to the wire. read more

Dr. Lamy is a crook and his staff are apathetic. I have never had a worse experience in my life. I went to him for a cold and was talked into a full physical. I informed Dr. Lamy that my insurance would not cover preventative care of that nature and I could not afford it myself. He said no problem! His staff would bill it so that all I would owe would be the co-pay. I did not know to be wary of my Doctor and that he would attempt to get as much money out of me as he could. When I received the $800 bill that I could not afford no amount of explaining to his staff what he had assured me could alleviate the matter and what was done was done. They sent my account to collections and Dr. Lamy would never speak to me regarding the promise he had made me in his office that I would not ever be charged more than the co-pay. I knew my insurance better than he did but I believed him. Don't make my mistake, steer clear of this scam artist and his team of toxic, callous reprobates. Any staff members that have stayed with him have long given up on getting anywhere in life that provides a fulfilling existence or modicum of integrity. read more

I've been going to Dr. Lamy for several years but no more! I received a call that my bloodwork came back from the lab abnormal and could I come in that day. I set my appointment for 1pm and wasn't seen until 2pm. I paid $35 copay and was gone 2 hours from work (lost 2 hours worth of hourly pay) for them to tell me that I had a calcium and and vitamin D deficiency and I could take vitamins over the counter. I have been a patient of Dr. Lamy's for quite sometime now however after landing in the hospital for the the past twelve days now I can certainly say I am no longer his patient. I went to Dr. Lamy's office sick 3/30/15 and he had the nurse give me a flu shot and a shot of antivert b/c he felt that from what I descriped I was having issues with virtigo which I have never been diagnosised with. Well I leave his office to enter the foyer and began to throwing up blood and proceed to throw up blood for about 30-40 minutes no one in his office ever came out to check on me . My family took me home once my daughter returned their trash can and later that night my husband brought me to the hospital where I got some real answers I have a real blood diesese called TTP, and came very close to dying. This is a review of the office of Dr. Keith Lamy. He has been my primary physician/general practitioner for 10+ years. Both he and his staff have seen me and my partner through regular ailments, acute issues and a few health scares. That said Dr. Lamy has been there when we needed him. He has a diverse and full practice with a supportive staff. He is a true physician and a doctor for all the people. Please be realistic and understanding and you will be met with kindness, help and guidance with your medical concerns. Arrive early for your appointment, be ready with a list of symptoms, and concerns, they will be addressed. If you have further questions, follow-up with the support staff, make an additional appointment. You are your own best health advocate. I was just sent a $75 bill for missing an appointment I had already called the office to notify them I needed to reschedule my physical. I was called soon after the appointment time and I rescheduled then. There was no warning of the fee and I have not signed any agreement that stated such fees. Healthgrades.com has 13 client ratings with mostly 2 stars. I have experienced waits that exceeded 90 minutes and I was told that if I didn't want to wait I should see his physician assistant instead. Staff is friendly at best and hostile at worst. Their X-ray is housed in a room where there is a lot of unrelated clutter and the vintage of the radiology equipment made me fearful for my potential exposure to radiation. The only reason I CHOSE Dr. Keith Lamy was that he was listed in the GAYELLOW pages for Austin. A bad way to choose a physician, I might add. After 2 years, I am done. Front desk is the worst. I don't think they realize you can hear them when they talk shit about you. It's also very hard to have them switch an appt for you. I'm pretty sure a 10 year old could do it faster and with less "ums". The doctor was pretty awesome though, she was super nice and answered all my questions. Very disorganized office operations. Referred my wife for an ultrasound after she presented with symptoms of congestive heart failure. They sent her home with instructions to elevate her legs until the swelling subsided. Nurse-practitioner then waited two weeks until a subsequent office visit to request and review results of the ultrasound the radiologist had sent them nine days before. By then my wife's condition had worsened and she was referred to present herself to a hospital emergency room. She had three office visits and blood draws with physician assistants and nurse practitioners and never once even met Dr. Lamy. read more

Dr. Lamy is an excellent doctor. I have been seeing him for well over 6 years and do not plan on changing doctors. Service to his patients has improved greatly because he has made changes to his staff. I had a long talk with him one time during a visit about issues that were going on and he took care of them right away. He told me in the future that I should not hesitate to contact him directly to resolve any type of issue, whether its billing or someone's attitude. Like I said, he has made changes to his staff and things have improved greatly over the past year. He truly is a great doctor and cares for his patients. He is more involved in the day to day activities and has even reprimanded a nurse in front of me for not returning my call. She has since gone and replaced by someone who is more professional. read more

I just changed doctor's and now I love my new one. But my mother and father still see Dr. Lamy, or i might say they see his assistant/nurse practioner...he's never there and if you want to see him, it will be two to three weeks before you can...anyway, my mother went to see him for a back and hip problem...he did an x-ray and told her she had bursitis he sent her to physical therapy for 6 weeks...she was doing what he told her but after almost 4 weeks the therapist told her something was majorly wrong..the therapy they were trying to get her to do should have been helping her, instead she was getting worse to the point they couldn't even touch her without having severe pain...they advised her to see Dr. Lamy to do a thorough evaluation on her...she went back and had him order that...come to find she had cancer and kidney failure...by the time she went to the specialist..they couldn't believe how she was still living because she was at "DEATH'S DOOR"...my father, has type 2 diabetes and every time he needs a checkup he never sees Dr. Lamy himself...but they keep putting and adding more meds to him...charge him a $10 lab fee when he has insurance before they submit a claim...don't do any lab or x-rays there they will charge you an extra fee on top of any co-pays you have for insurance...you are better off going to Austin Radiological or Clinical Pathology...at least you know you aren't being over charged...i know this because i checked this out with my insurance...they too were unaware of his extra fees because on the EOB they don't show that extra charge...this problem even includes their so called "Urgent Care" which they start charging at 4 pm if you need to be seen because you can't get an appt with him because he is on vacation for 3 months...so lets say you pay a $40 copay. for Urgent Care..the EOB will show that you only paid a $20 copay...my insurance stated that shouldn't be done...so they were going to look into it further...so BE AWARE what this so called Dr. Lamy is doing to his patients especially if you have Flex Spending Account and they question your charges, your EOB won't jive with what he charged. His staff has always been great especially the receptionist...i truly feel sorry though for his staff because if he is cheating his patients, i can only imagine how he cheats his staff even though they work after hours because he isn't telling your insurance about the Urgent Care fees or lab fees that he charges on top of your copay fees you should only be paying... I can only assume that these negative reviews were isolated cases. I first went to Dr. Lamy's practice this Thursday 12/5/13, and for a follow up earlier today on 12/7/13, and I cannot say more wholeheartedly how much I disagree with these other posts. I found each and every one of the staff I interacted with (5 in total) to be extremely friendly, attentive, positive, conversational, and enjoying their work environment, and as for Dr. Lamy himself, well, he was a kind, thoughtful, highly approachable MD, who spent time to get to know me a little as well as covering the necessary steps for the visit. Not to mention he clearly knows his stuff to say the least. Before our interaction I was sat in one of the consultation rooms, and noticed a rather nice quote from the Dalai Lama posted on the wall, and upon meeting Dr. Lamy himself I can honestly say that his calm, warm demeanor showed in every way that he cares passionately about making humans feel better. If one believes in good energy it was here in abundance, a cozy environment with a Doctor who truly cares about the wellbeing of his patients. On the technical side of things, there is a lab as well as x-ray facilities all self-contained on site, so any follow ups can be completed with minimal disruption to one's schedule. As a walk in patient who had no idea what to expect I cannot stress more how much I recommend this facility, and even more so Dr. Lamy himself, who has an impeccable bedside manner and is a kindly soul as well as a top rate physician, and I truly feel that the one star reviews here do this fellow a great disservice. read more

I went for an interview (for a Certified Medical Assistant position) with his office manager first (whom was nice enough), then was called back for a second interview with Dr. Lamy himself. During the interview with him, I felt like I was being interrogated by the CIA, the questions he asked were completely inappropriate, illegal and had no relevance what so ever to the position I was applying for. He actually questioned MY CURRENT BIRTH CONTROL METHOD!!! He also inquired if my husband ever considered HAVING A VASECTOMY!!!! My husband and I have been together for 20+ years, and during that time have been blessed with 5 beautiful children, which is none of his business anyway, we do not live off of welfare (not that there's anything wrong with that, my husband is a lead engineer), and do not have any issues with working. He informed me that if my kids became sick while employed there, I'd have to bring them to work with me. Guess he likes sick kids walking around his clinic potentially spreading illness to others. Needless to say, I left the interview very quickly feeling angry, violated, and amazed at his un-ethical approach at this interview. I couldn't get out of there quick enough and never looked back! They actually called me back to offer the position, which I never responded to.
