Entry is £4 Adults, Children under 12, OAPS, and Student Union members are £3 and if you are 2 adults & 2 children under 12 you can have a Family ticket for £8. Staffed by one of the Sons of the Desert, this is a perfect day out for parents and brats. A real Utopia located in Ulverston, the museum is guaranteed to leave 'em laughing. This big business has a treasure trove of delights, from Hollywood artefacts to personal letters. The cinema is the finishing touch, with a non-stop series of films. Unaccustomed as we are to see the films on the tv these days, this is a double whoopee for fans. Hats off to the manager. So, pack up your troubles and head for them thar hills. Truth be told, there's a whole lot more to read than to see here. That said, it's certainly worth your while on a rainy day - especially considering the very modest entrance fee [UKP 3 for adults, concessions available] and the pleasant presentation. Is it worth visiting when you're in Lancaster? Absolutely. Is it worth travelling to Lancaster for? Not really.

Was in Carnforth for the weekend and decided to go on a little day trip to the motor museum…read more So glad we did. It was an absolutely amazing collection of cars, motorbikes and push bikes throughout the years. There's also all sorts of old motor memorabilia from old signs to old gas pump's and much more. You don't have to be a car buff to enjoy this place excellent day out

The gunpowder mill, the blue mill (which coated everything blue), shops and contents. Something for everyone in its 30,000 objects. The perfect place to while away a rainy day. Also has a well stocked shop. The museum has only been at this location since 2010 so some things like the 1920s motor repair garage display is undergoing an update. There also seems to be, from a notice, things arriving from the reserve collection. The museum is situated by the River Leven just off the A590 at Backbarrow and is easy to access. It is on two levels (with good disabled access) There is a largish cafe by the waterfront, which on a warm sunny day would be nice to sit out by the river. As it was a cold showery day, we stopped inside only venturing out to look at the froth of water coming over the weir.

The present family been the Bagots who are connected to the Howard's. the house itself dates back principally to Elizabethian times but is built in the foundations of a Peel Tower( a keep) and it's adjoining hall. Interior quite impressive especially the leather wallpaper. The house has close connections with the Duke of Wellington through marriage of his niece. The adjoining gardens are magnificent with toppery beyond compare.

We visited Levens Hall and gardens on a warm summers day.The fragrance from the gardens hit us as…read moresoon as we opened the car doors.The house and the gardens are Elizabethan but the earliest building on the site was a pele tower,later in 1590 the house took it's place.A lovely house it is too,well kept and very beautiful.It has some lovely rooms filled with fine examples of furniture and art as well as some of the earliest pieces of english patchwork.There are also some of the best examples ever of spanish leather wall coverings which may sound boring but are very immpressive to see.The house is just gorgeous and I would'nt even try to do it justice,there's no way I could as you just have to see it. When you go out into the well kept elizabethan gardens it's just breathtaking.There's lots of little hidey holes where you can sit and rest and enjoy the views.There's also a beautiful fountain. The hall is located in the south lakes,Cumbria. and is well worth the £10.50 adult,£4.50 children or £26 family(2 adults and up to 3 school age children) There's the usual cafe (which sold realy delicious food) and gift shop. We spent the whole day here and we intend to go back again.They regularly do special events all year round as well.
