La Gratta is a bit off the beaten path, but it is Sunday and that means a lot of places are closed. We were very happy with our choice! I ordered Cordon Bleu with kroketten and hubby ordered Pfeffer steak with pommes. Both were huge portions! There was no way to eat this huge portions - largest we have seen in Europe! The waitress offered us foil to wrap our leftovers to go! Also a first for us in Europe! Very good, but go with a huge appetite or share a plate! Very quick service too!

I got to know mister Heer , who now unfortunately past away, we became good friends and had many happy moments together in the Bummelzug bar , their Orangen tomaten Borchtel soup was delicious, I encountered many interesting people during my stay , one lady that worked in this hotel. Left and started her own business, a bar called Tatort , I also went there many times. All I can say is thank you Höhenstaufen for your hospitality and friendly service, best regards Thomas Brunner
