Got to try a few german beer and gluhvine and it was so good hehe We tried their pork steak and duck dish and both were very delicious. Duck was a bit dry and heavy but pork steak was AMAZING. Over the top. Creamy sauce on top of the steak, and comes with vegetables and potatoes. Please get this if you go. I was not very hungry but I couldn't stop eating the pork dish! But I went with a Swabian who highly recommended the place for authentic Schwabisch food and it was actually surprisingly unexpectedly amazingly rather good! I had the Badisches Schneckensüppchen (snail in cream) soup and it was simply great. Creamy, silky, aromatic, with the snails perfectly textured and tasty. Since Helmut Kohl was recently on TV, I ordered the Schwäbischer Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach) in his honour, and I can now understand why he insisted that every head of state that visited Germany had to have one. And unlike President Chirac, I rather enjoyed mine, though I have to also add that it may be some time before I order another one as it was so substantial! I also have to confess that I left most of the sauerkraut uneaten as I hate the stuff, but then I always do this anywhere where they serve it (except for Borchardt). I didn't recognise any of the German wines but the restaurant had federweiss (fermented grape juice, 10% alcohol) and we had that instead though it was rather expensive at 4,50 Eur per little glass. Unlike the problems experienced by the other reviewers, I have to say that service was perfectly fine, although a little slow. Perhaps chatting politely to the staff and expressing genuine interest in the many (many) Swabian dishes helped. Speaking German also helps although they have an English menu (which we didn't need). The atmosphere is pretty OK - it's not too fancy but it was pretty packed with Germans and very few tourists and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves. Anyway, I will definitely be back here to sample more authentic Swabian dishes here - it is different from the rather greasy and heavy local food in Berlin which I am not too fond of. And one thing I would recommend is to try the dishes with the names you have never heard of. Who would have thought that the Swabians do snails so much better than the French? My friend had the tripe and that was also sensational, as good as the best tripola de Firentina in Florence.

Expensive for the quality they offer. Unless you live across the street, or can't find a restaurant that opens very late into the night, you probably should find another place. You will however be able to silence your hungry stomach. Also there may be better dishes but from my experience I can't guarantee that at all.
