The owner, Darin Sorensen, may be the best host outside California (where he comes from), he cares for every guest as if he was his best friend, the hotel is in a beautiful Villa, every room is different and special (our friends could pick the one they liked best), breakfast must have been marvellous. The price is a bargain for this quality. To make a long story short: The did not want to leave and fell in love with this hotel and Dresden

Gym was small but very nice with new looking equipment: just one treadmill, an elliptical, yoga ball. View to the outside was very nice. The restaurant is small with a limited selection for breakfast buffet but has all the basics of coffee, several juice selections, eggs, bread, yogurt and cereal. You also have the option of ordering fresh dishes from the waiter. Overall it was a very nice and comfortable stay.

Room: clean, modern, with hardwood floors, fancy bathroom with fancy gyrating shower head options, and delicious tea. Location: right in the middle of everything. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The hotel was about a ten minute walk from the train station and it's pretty much a straight shot. It would be pretty hard to get lost or not find it. The staff was really nice and gracious. The rooms were good sized, modern and clean. The bed were a bit small. I would say twin sized, not queen. There was a shower, not a tub. There was a bar located outside our window and it was really loud. There was music and people shouting, but maybe that is the price you pay for being in the center of everything. The line for breakfast in the morning was insane, if you show up after eight prepare yourself not to find a table in the main dining room, we had to eat in the bar area. For breakfast there was a choice of boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, meat, cheese and bread. Lastly, this hotel was a bit pricey for a holiday inn express. I think it was because we booked at Christmas time, I'm not sure! It was over five hundred dollars for two nights.

We came into contact with two of the Housekeeping staff and they were very friendly. However; the check-in clerk was very unfriendly initially, which really infuriated me - but eventually she thawed and became much more pleasant. The other front desk staff were pleasant. A buffet breakfast is included in the price, although it was very mediocre and the selection was quite limited. However, the coffee was very good. The reason why I'm only giving three stars (instead of four) is because the internet connection was PATHETIC (as mentioned by the previous reviewer, but at least there's no longer a charge). Truthfully, the hotel should *pay* people to use the internet. In this era - and when a large hotel in a major chain is located in the center of a city - there's no excuse whatsoever for such pathetic internet service.

Third, there is a very nice morning breakfast. The one negative I encountered in my stay causes me to give only three stars - connectivity. I had nothing but trouble getting online with my iPhone and with my MacBook. During a three night stay, I found myself going down to the front desk five times to get the problem straightened out. It could have been more times but I just gave up as I didn't feel like getting dressed and going down at 11 pm. So frustrating! During one visit to the front desk, the employee working the desk told me that I would have to call the hotel's internet contractor. I told her I had no phone. She got a phone, dialed the number, handed it to me and told me to sit down because I would likely be on hold for awhile. I wondered why it was my responsibility, as a hotel guest, to call the hotel's internet contractor. If you don't care about getting online, then by all means, stay here. If you do want to get online, this is not the place to stay.

This is a nice hotel. Rooms have modern furnishings and mattresses were firm and quite…read morecomfortable. The reason I'm giving this hotel a 3 and not 4 or 5 is because they will not guarantee either a non-smoking room, or the type of beds you get (2 singles vs a king). So, having reserved a non-smoking room, we arrived and were given a room that was a smoking room and reeked of smoke. When we went back to the desk, they said that they had no non-smoking 2-bed rooms available and that we could try coming back in a few hours to see if anything opened up. Since we were there around 2 pm, this didn't make sense to us at all. It seemed to us that they should know what rooms were available since check-out had presumably been accomplished 2 hours before. The desk clerk was very nice and finally did accommodate our request, but it seemed for a while until she did so that we might just be out of luck. Also, as mentioned in another review, the free internet isn't really free. Yes, it's free for ONE device for a certain amount of web browsing. My sister used her phone for some web browsing and within a few hours got an error message that she had used up her allocation. We ended up paying the 5 Euros to upgrade to the paid internet. We did not get the breakfast because it was something like 20 Euros.

It has a modern corporate, quintessentially German look and feel. Prices are very reasonable bordering on budget. The bed which at first glance looks like a mattress on the floor, was spartan but quite comfortable. The bathroom was simple and clean. A room laptop safe is provided. Everything seemed thoughtfully arranged and practical. The worktable was perfect, with a nice work lamp. Continental breakfast was standard buffet and nothing fancy. The nicest thing was the free transit card and storage after checkout.
