This hotel said: "Sorry, there are no Jews allowed in our hotel." That alone is appalling. What is…read moreremarkable is that the apology was nearly as bad.
Instead of condemning antisemitism, the hotel filled its statement with excuses about phishing attempts, fake reservations, and frustration. None of those explanations come close to justifying why excluding Jews was the language that came to mind. Plenty of businesses deal with scams every day without resorting to religious discrimination.
The message reflected a level of prejudice that should be unthinkable from any hospitality business. The apology reflected a level of evasiveness that suggests the hotel still does not fully grasp why people were outraged in the first place.
A hotel's job is to welcome guests. This hotel managed to fail that basic standard and then failed again when given the opportunity to make amends. I would never consider staying here.
