We have recently been working with the Landmark on Moorland Rd in New Berlin and their customer service has been excellent. We were applying for a HELOC, had to open a new account and had to wire transfer some funds and everything was handled quickly, efficiently and accurately. There were a few issues along the way, and they assisted us in resolving each one. They were extremely patient answering all our questions. Although all the staff was very accommodating, Janel was absolutely outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. read more

I recently applied for a fist mortgage loan at Landmark. As background info, I was making a 30% down-payment on a $555000 purchase price. I supplied the documentation to prove adequate funds to close. In fact,there was twice the amount in my accounts to show sufficient funds. For security reasons, I chose to black out the account number on my investment account so no one could steal my identity. The underwriter insisted I supply the account number. I elected to apply at another institution who does not require that, nor did a second bank I checked with. Landmark lost a very good loan where I have 2 auto loans and a recently paid off Home Equity loan. My credit score is extremely high also. I know see why Landmarks customer satisfaction scores are so low. I hope their new President can address these numbers and have a plan to improve them. He certainly has his work cut out. read more

They are polite - That's about the end of good service. Dropped the ball on following through on my loan about half a dozen times, even after I went in 4 times and they still forgot to fax papers. FOUR TIMES!!! There's always an issue with new cards and activation and declining when there's ample funds. It just never ends with Landmark. I think it means you need to note the landmark before you signed up with them coz that will be your last favorable banking memory. read more

I have an auto loan with LMCU. I pay extra every month which I instructed them to apply to my principle. They continue to apply towards interest and try and convince me this is a better way to go and won't change it. They also try and convince you that compounded daily interest is better than monthly. I have banked with landmark for the past 10 years using them for all my banking needs. That has recently changed as I realized they don't actually work for their customers. I was scammed out of money, sent in all documents to prove the scam, and was overall told that they cannot help me and sorry there's nothing we can do. If this is how landmark wants to treat their customers, they will lose alot more. I immediately closed all my accounts with landmark and vow never to use them again for any of my financial needs. I recommend larger banks if you want people to go to bat for you when you have been scammed out of a significant amount of money. They actually protect you more. Go elsewhere. This is has been a good experience till the end. My auto loan Auto Pay DID NOT pay final balance of $33.62 / 5 years of payments on time no problems and the last payment was unprocessed and screwed up my credit. As we explained to customer service we did request a payoff quote but due to illness in the family we were expecting auto payment to process anyway. NO WAY has customer service make it right and consumed to much of my time and will not recommend this company to anyone. A request for a payoff quote is not a cancellation of an auto payment. Waste of my trust and time. Now I am on credit karma disputing the issue this company should of never had in the first place. Service was great till the end. Wow, I came here to warn others and noticed they already have very poor ratings. I should have read the warnings before doing business with them! My scenario is this. They charged me $1500 for insurance coverage because my insurance was missing one specific coverage that cost me $11 to add to my Progressive coverage. Landmark was 1300% more expensive. Absolute thieves in my mind. (ps. loan is for a dirt bike for backyard play, they wanted it to have street collision insurance... but it's not allowed on the streets!) read more

Their customer service appears inconsistent, AT BEST. One day, they appear 'all together'. But don't count on it being that way upon return. They seem to operate in a "Wild West" type format. After an encounter wherein I had chosen to withdraw a substantial amount simply to re-invest elsewhere, and in doing so, took nearly an hour and required 2 additional support staff in order to accomplish, there was never EVER, even an apologetic utterance but rather, a clear atmosphere of Consternation that 'filled the air'. I've had an auto loan with then for years. It started off okay. Then they got a new app that changed my bank account number so I could not pay using it. Reported this multiple times never received a single followup. I've spent over $500 driving to the bank to make my monthly payments. Now they tell me they will only accept cash or payment online no other options. Absolutely predatory and horrid customer service. read more

Imposed additional $1500 fee on auto loan stating lapse of coverage when there was no lapse of coverage and they had my proof of coverage. Will have to resolve in small claims court if they don't reverse. Stay away, will never do business with them again and have never had an issue from a bank like this. read more

It is difficult to find anything nice to say about Landmark. Most of the complaints I read are spot on. I am retired. I had a 15 yr mortgage with LMCU.. I decided to pay loan loan off 4 years early in September 2023.. Also paid off two car loans as well. I too had an issue with 1 late payment. Quicken had LMCU setup as an auto pay. The payment was in my Quicken register but was earmarked for a printed check. I caught there error, explained what happened and sent check via bil pay... I appealed to bank president to withdraw hit on my credit. Simply answered no. I never forgot the lack of concern or understanding. Blemish had little affect on my credit. What did bother me was a peervasive lack of customer service and how the attitude was obvious even when doing walk in banking. Rarely if ever did we get a welcome or a thank you. Phone service ,if you didn't mind the waiting, was more of the same attitude.. Last attempt to do business with LMCU.. I inquired about a HELOC rate. They assumed I completed an app, which I had not. I received a form letter denying my app for an HELOC. They claim too much debt to income. The only debt I have is a 315.00 a month lease on a suv. Credit cards are paid off monthly and no mortgage.. Credit scores are 790-835. Really not sure how the choose customers. My suggestion, avoid this CU.. read more

Shala Peterson is very unprofessional when it comes to being informative and getting back to members. I put in a loan application on 01/07/2025. I didn't hear back from her so I reached out and LVM. She didn't call me back but decided it was okay to send an email. My income to debt ratio is too high for a loan. A phone call would have been nice to explain everything and possibly give some advice. I worked with someone when I thought I was going to buy a house in Indiana but then decided to move back to Wisconsin. I just think it is unprofessional to send an email when I personally called Shala. I am very unhappy and I think this is so unprofessional as a business. I made an error and five tiny debits (average of two dollars) hit my Landmark account when they were supposed to go to PayPal. I was no longer using my Landmark account and the debits all hit on the same day. They charged me $30 apiece for each of these debits, all on the same day. I tried to get someone to care at customer service. They did not care. They can legally do this, but they are definitely not a nice local credit union that cares enough to give people individual consideration. We are definitely NOT "worth more here". Wow. I feel like landmark credit union just to a big hot steamy dump all over me. Been a member here for better than 28 years. They have really grown in that time. From a nice friendly member owned credit union to a now just like every other multinational bank just looking to steal your money. I have had car loans here and a checking account here until about two years ago when I switched to another bank as part of a bussiness loan. I kept a small amount at landmark cu in a VIP Savings account. (They actually call it that!) I did this just to stay a member with the idea that I would be back. Found out today that they have been charging me $5 a month..for get this.. an 'inactivity fee'! AN INACTIVITY FEE - FOR A SAVINGS ACCOUNT! Now keep in mind.. its not alot of money.. but its a savings account. They drained it and closed my account! Their motto.. your worth more here! Called the customer service people.. after about 35 mins on hold they call back to tell me that they are going to mail me a check. Not reopen my account. Not apologize for stealing the money. Had to call today because I didn't get my April bill and wanted to make sure we were still set up for paper billing. Their phone system is terrible. Not sure I've ever encountered one worse. SEVEN minutes to punch through the numbers to get to the right department. Then they wanted to charge a $10 convenience fee to pay over the phone. No thanks. So, I go to their website thinking the payment will go through immediately...nope it was going to take FIVE days...through their OWN website?? So I go onto my banks site and the payment can go through by the next day. Umm, ok. Also ridiculous was the 8 questions to confirm my identity so I can PAY a bill. Good grief. Tried to transfer money and I kept getting logged off. Calling waits you on hold for 6 months. I read one yelper complain about having to show an ID. How RACIST of them. I am trying to find out when I will receive my title for my vehicle that has been paid off. Sat online for 25 minutes and the phone went dead. Trying again now. I'm on hold again with 31 people in front of me. This happened when I tried to get the pay-off amount. It took three times to get through. Go somewhere else. It seems a lot of people are having issues with Landmarks insurance service center for the vehicle loans. The day we got the loan I provided them with all the insurance information on the bike BEFORE it left the dealers parking lot. Within a month we started getting emails stating they did not have proof of insurance. I would go to their provided link and upload the entire 38 page policy with all the details, upload copies of the proof of insurance card, upload any and all paperwork pertaining to the bike, yet we keep getting the emails. I would call, and they tell me that they have everything they need and ignore the emails. A month later another email saying Landmark CU is billing me just over 3000.00 for an insurance policy on the bike that I already insured before I took it off the dealer lot. Called them again, they do not know why the insurance policy was purchased by them, they have every thing they need from us for proof of insurance. They are trying to cancel the policy they purchased and charged us for, they apologize, etc etc. Another month passes and guess what? Here comes another email saying that they needed more insurance information, in addition to the fact they are billing us for this outrageous policy they purchased. I call and get the same response. They have everything they need, they are trying to cancel their policy, it is an automatic email, and they are sorry. How hard is it to flip switch or check a box that says they have what they need and do not send this email anymore wasting my time and theirs? We've owned the bike for 6 months now, and still they haven't gotten their stuff straightened out. I don't think I would ever be able to trust them to handle my money. read more

This place is the biggest joke of any business possibly anywhere. They could not figure out how to set up online banking. They made an error in my address when I first became a customer and the process of rectifying that was absolutely insane. I got denied like 50 times trying to set up an online account. They refused to call me back. They would e-mail me and tell me to call them. I filed a complaint with the BBB and finally I get a response that says we have done more than enough to address your concern when they had actually done nothing. I resorted to insulting them in my emails and then finally I sent one where I just straight up begged them to help me make payments online and then they sent me a change of address form in the mail. (Not cash...deposit) I asked why would someone not be allowed to deposit a check and I was told it was policy. Again, he was not asking for cash. Worst bank I have ever used. Auto payment was never put in. Tried setting it up couldn't. Bills showed up every other month, interest rates all over the place. If you want an accurate number of what you still have to pay on a loan you have to call. Got a letter of lack of payment 2 months after getting my car. Was told everything is good and all set, then we are going to reposes you car. Tried paying off the loan not even a year into having it. Wrote a check from the total amount due on the bill I got. Well wasn't right because got a letter saying I still have to pay on my loan. On that bill it still showed that I did not make a payment but my payments a month went down by half. Do not use this bank you will have nothing but problems and they hit you with a ton of penalties and fees. Waste of time and money to go through them. These people are a joke. Their loan officer Dean Felske approved me for an amount and had me drive 2 hours from Chicago to Racine WI to pick up the check. After I get there they told me they can't finish this application because I'm missing articles of corporation. Pretty much wasted my whole day for a stupid paper that doesn't mean anything. Even though I already had 2 open loans with them in the past without having to get articles of corporation or even drive 2 hours. Dean Felske is a joker, he put a hard inqury on my credit report, wasted my whole day, and didn't approve me for a stupid paper that doesn't mean nothing. A couple things, 1. When a I had a mortgage at Landmark, they outsourced their insurance verification process to another company. So at seemingly random intervals, I would get sort of threatening letters that I needed to provide proof that I had insurance on the property associated with the mortgage. These letters had deadlines in them after which they would sign me up for their overpriced home owners insurance. I always did have insurance. The kicker is, after I would send them proof, they wouldn't respond promptly to verify that it was acceptable. So I would sit there wondering if they were going to sign me up for overpriced insurance. Nothing like dealing with a firm that acts like shady debt collectors. 2. Landmark also randomly will deny credit card charges without telling you. For example, I recently tried to buy something from a website that I had used before and Landmark declined to process the charge. Landmark never notified me that they were denying it, the charge just didn't go through. After I called, the person cleared it but I had to go back to the website and redo the order. If they truly thought it was a fraudulent charge, why didn't they notify me? I'd want to know. And since it wasn't, why do I have to make a phone call, be put on hold, talk through an issue with someone, just to have an opportunity to use the credit card? It's clear they don't care about my time. read more

Got a fraud alert detection on my Debit Card. I was told that they were canceling my card, and a new one would be sent to me within 7 to 10 days. I'm now 17 business days in. Finally called as I am tired of using my back up Credit card, and not having the ability to get cash. On hold now for 20 minutes and counting. I've already pulled my mortgage, and stopped going through them for Auto loans. I will now be closing my 20 year old checking and savings account, as they are all I have left with them. Credit unions are a better way to bank than for-profit banks since the costs tend to be much lower. That said: Avoid this one. The waits for phone service are absurd and have been for as long as I can remember. The lines for the drive through are slow, and once you're in line you're pretty much stuck. I had issues with a home equity loan that were clearly caused by incompetence and/or negligence on the part of the bank. Avoid this institution at all costs. Have been with them for a long time, and they were always really good. In recent times, Landmark has become a joke. Since last Fall, they obviously hired someone/a team, and they do non-stop weekly updates. During this time your Debit Card will fail, and it has happened repeatedly. They even did an update on New Years Eve from 8pm-4am....Cards failed.No CREDIBLE banking institution would even do an update on New Years Eve. You prepare that before. Another time anyone making a purchase over $250.00...Transaction would be denied. Several weeks ago I was at Kwik Trip with a friend, we were heading downtown. He went to withdraw $200.00 from his account and it failed, he has over $20,000 in that account. I have been stuck at the gas station AT LEAST 5 times. Last week in the middle of the day all cards were failing again...Called...76 minute hold time. Why? Because people were stuck somewhere because of this. A Without-End Story. Updates, when done professionally, are done continually behind the scenes. At MOST....You should announce an update once a year when you cannot access your account. They most often do them on a Sunday evening...That is utterly ridiculous when you travel, and prepare for your week on Sunday evenings which a lot of people do. You can call them, ask them, talk directly about this matter...And it never changes. Landmark is an institution that has been on the decline for some time. The idiocy....Is stunning. Their refusal to operate in a common sense manner, and have an IT department that knows what they are doing....Is beyond them...Completely. They do not care... AVOID.... read more

Have been long-term customers of Landmark. Previously had a home equity loan and car loans with them over many years with no problems. Recently applied for a home equity loan. After receiving a letter asking for documentation, mailed said documentation. Did not hear from them for three months. Called the loan manager numerous times. He never answered the phone. I left messages requesting a return call with no response. I then called the call center requesting a supervisor. The call center operator promised I would receive a return call within 24 hours. Never received a return call. Finally received a letter from them saying we were declined because we did not submit the necessary paperwork. Our home is paid off and we have excellent credit. Will never do business with them again. read more

By far one of the worst banks i have ever been with. You cannot do anything online through their banking apps as well as their customer service is very difficult to work with as they constantly hang up on you. I have moved out of state and have been trying to close my accounts with them for the past few years and they have not closed them as you need to go into a location to close an account.
