In a tee-pee. This place is fantastic, if you need to get away for a long weekend or even an extended break - because while they have standard accommodation in student, backpacker style dorm rooms with powershowers and fully fitted kitchens, they also provide a camping area for tents, and more importantly they have several authentic tee-pees. These things are not just for show, they are real, and built in almost the same way as native americans build theirs. There were 5 of us staying in one of the tee-pees, and it's fantastic. They are large, with comfortable sleep mats for your sleeping bags, and plenty of room. If you need the loo in the middle of the night, that can be tricky since you have to walk back into the main building, but if you're lucky and it's a clear night with a full moon, you'll have no problems finding your way. It was so much fun - and that was just the tee-pees. On saturday nights the lodge organises a barbeque for all the guests, with a selection of meat and fresh fish, often caught that day from the local town, Sennen. There are loads of things to do - Sennen Beach is a long, beautiful sandy beach with some of the best surfing in the UK. Land's End, the west-most point of England, is only a half hour walk away from the camping ground, and passing back through Sennen on the return leg you can stop for some authentic Cornish Cream Tea. There is a good pub a short distance south from the Lodge, with live music and great company. Everyone is so friendly and everything feels so fresh. I highly recommend that if you're looking for some way of relaxing for a few days, get down to Whitesands Lodge, take your sleeping bag and a few friends, and leave everything else behind.

The owners and staff could not do enough for you; the room we stayed in was fantastic with views over Lands End and the surrounding coast. The only down side to this hotel is that its 450+ miles away from my house in Darlington. We have already enquired about stay again for our wedding anniversary later on in the year. Amazing

The station café is quite nice too. Can't imagine there is another place so small, this far from London, that has so many services to London. I had never heard of St Erth before having to change here, but it has a really good website (http://www.st-erth.co.uk/home.html) (putting the nearby popular holiday destinations to shame) and the people living here seem to really like it. I do find having to change here annoying mind you, when travelling between 2 bigger towns, but that's the way the rail is set up in this part of the world.

Within minutes Debbie had us in our room and settled. It is a 3 room boutique style B&B in a lovely house right in the midst of St. Ives down on the harbour. It is a short 5 minute walk from the train station. Our room had a spectacular view of the harbour, and the sunrise the following morning. It was truly a million dollar view. The bed was beyond comfortable with fantastic pillows and bedding. The room was well equipped with a mini fridge, tea and coffee, and a modern en-suite bathroom. The breakfast room was bright and spacious, with a fantastic view of St. Ives harbour to inspire you to get out and enjoy the fresh sea air. Breakfast had a good variety of choice with fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt and a choice of fry up. The bread used for the toast has to be mentioned so yummy and such nice thick slices. Debbie and Carl our hosts were lovely, very welcoming and professional.

Selection of trinkets and tasteful beachy type gifts and oddments and some clothing on sale - good selection of post cards. Reasonable prices, but not cheap. My family of 5 (all adults) stayed here two nights over New Year's and couldn't have had a nicer…read moreexperience! We arrived rather late at night due to getting a bit lost and stuck in bad weather on the drive from London, but Rosie was so understanding and even greeted us with a hug and a "Happy New Year!" She and John were both lovely hosts throughout our visit and we really enjoyed talking with them. The location is wonderful and makes you feel like you've been transported back to an old movie in the English countryside - we spent all of New Year's Day morning walking around the grounds and visiting the horses and the beautiful old church on site. Breakfast was excellent, we loved the family suite (and excellent value for two bedrooms and a large private sitting room), and especially appreciated the tip from John upon check-out about taking the train to St. Ives instead of driving - we followed his advice and had a great afternoon there! Heartily recommend and hope to visit again next time we're in Cornwall!

I promptly went afoot and unexpectedly found this B&B facing the sea, what a most welcome oasis for weary travelers! Liz, the land lady was most accommodating and helpful. The 2 single en suite rooms were charming in country decor, immaculately clean, cheery and bright, coffee and tea were stashed along with soft bath towels to boot! Breakfast was not only a standard English Breakfast, my friend was able to order a vegetarian version, and a generous cereal bar accompanied. Free wifi and complete silence rounded out the entire experience along with the surprisingly inexpensive room rate. Cheers to Liz!

The Commercial Hotel is a hotel, restaurant and bar in the centre of the village of St Just in…read morePenwith, 10 miles west of Penzance and a mile or so from the rugged cliffs of Cape Cornwall. This review is just for the evening meal - we didn't stay here. (They provide bed & breakfast, as well as having a restaurant and bar.) We ate here at the suggestion of our host as we were staying nearby. Although it was curry night, we had had a curry a few days before so decided to choose from the main a la carte menu. To start, my partner had whitebait with a mixed salad garnish (£8.50), and I had the carrot and orange soup (£5.95), served with warm bread and butter. The soup was very pleasant - it is hard to go wrong with soup, but it was nice nevertheless. The whitebait were fine, but were 7 of the smallest whitebait we've seen! We both had linguine for the mains: my partner crab linguine, topped with rocket; and I had the vegan linguine, with roasted squash, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, red onions and wilted spinach. My linguine was fine, but it would have benefited from a sauce raher than the veg being simply in oil. My partner's crab linguine was very tasty, but unfortunately he found half a dozen pieces of crab shell in the linguine. We explained this to the waiter, who spoke to the kitchen and came back to say that the shelled crab was bought in, and should have been shelled properly by the supplier. I'm not quite sure what to make of this: surely the restaurant should take responsibility for what it serves, rather than blaming suppliers? Anyway, we weren't impressed and so it drops a star for that. The Mediterranean side salad (£4.95), drizzled with balsamic vinegar, was good. Service (from a young student) was friendly but a little haphazard. With two soft drinks, the bill came to £63 for two. I'm not sure if we'd go again; it was okay, but we might try one of the other eateries next time.
