This kitchen has some gems stored in their sleeves. Food outstanding! The location and view. Austria is filled with Gasthauses that are situated in places with views that make you say "I'm quitting my job, moving here and eating & drinking for the rest of my life." This is a place like that. View of mountains spectacular and even though we got it at a rainy and cloudy day it was incredible when the sun broke out a couple times. You have tables on balcony, at back if you want more forest and less view or you have these couple benches as in northern Germany so that you can have some privacy with your better half. It's a 1 hour drive from Vienna (would require a lot of walking from train station). Call and reserve room or table before just going there. Staff is wonderful and helpful. So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.
