This is one of a few boatsheds that enable you to have a boating trip in nature, while you're still in the city! Lane Cove has some gorgeous mansions each with their own boatshed and lush front gardens you can peak at from your hired vessel. Take care though-the river has its sharks and stingers :) read more

A very safe place to try out Kayaking is at Lane Cove National Park as the river is very calm and still. It is a hidden gem in the inner west. The water is generally easy to row in and there are only a few people kayaking. The Boatshed is a blessing to the park. It offers Kayaks, Canoes and Paddle boats to explore the water. You can hire in half hour blocks or for the whole day. The kayaks are in very good condition and the compulsory life vests come in a range of sizes. I came back earlier than my scheduled time and was offered a Bike ride for the remaining 15 mins. That gesture offered by the owner has made this a 5 star review. I realised my love for mountain biking again and the road to ride on is not too bad.. Quite a fun day. Oh, the boat shed also sells ice-creams and crisps and non-alcoholic beverages. Not to much variety, but enough to keep you refreshed if you forgot to pack your picnic basket. read more

Just had a whiz at the pedal boats a few days back. Have to give this a thumbs up. Firstly as an earlier poster mentioned, the river was quite calm which is good for those not very keen on getting wet :) Secondly, the staff were great, they cleaned up the boat which was a bit wet before handing it to me (and partner). When I was getting the boat back they told me I had 5 more minutes and that I could take it for a short spin before I returned the boat, even though someone was waiting for our boat to be back. That was nice, given that I'm used to operators trying to short change by telling us we are late even when we are on time. And the owner has a 1940's Ford out there at the shed and was more than happy to give access to the inside of the car for a couple of photos and even popped up the hood to show us the engine. And he didn't accept any additional fee for that too. Overall a positive experience, I'm headed out there next week to try a hand at the kayaks :) Just remember to carry cash, the place doesnt accept cards. read more

The national park was a good blend of fun, serenity and full of great nature. A group of my friends came to row and canoe. After we got the boats and canoes it was good. The 3 stars I give is only for the boat, the nature and the great company i had that day. What was really lacking was the customer service my friends and I received that day. There were a big group of us. As it was our first time there, we asked if we could get a canoe, the lady really brushed us off and said just check what's out there with an annoyed tone. Furthermore, once we signed and paid for our row boat it took 45 minutes for them to get us on the boat. When they rowed one over close enough for us the same lady bumped up a family in front of us. My friend asked if that was our boat, and she said very rudely 'we're getting you a boat, but we're giving this one away because you are not ready'. I assured her that we were in fact ready, as all 4 of us were standing in the sun waiting for our row boat for 35 minutes. I am not sure if race played a part, but she the family that she let through first were caucasian and we were a group of asians. Furthermore, the system they had going on was not a very good one. It seemed very disorganised. I observed one of the customers asking how much time they had left and the lady replying 'i have no idea go check yourself'. This lady i felt was very rude and ruined our day by the way she acted. I hope to go back again one day, however i might have to go with a group of caucasians to get better customer service! read more

Disgraceful, run down business that has the lowest standards - filthy dirty unkempt equipment and zero customer service. The life jackets are dirty, stained and old and should be thrown out. The boats are full of rancid stagnant water complete with duck poo and other bird excrement - we took photos of this because we could not believe how NSW National Parks could allow this! There are dirty old cut off milk bottles tied to rope inside the boats and the operators just tell you to use these dirty old bottles to clean the water out of the boat yourself. The customer service is non existent! Don't waste your time here - beautiful location but the hire boats are so dirty you will probably catch a disease! No seats or backrests in the dodgy broken hire boats - the operator just gave us an even dirtier old ripped life jacket to sit on because the seat on the hire boat was damaged & had not been repaired in years!! read more
