My "family-friend" was at the same time looking for a new job and I knew that. All I had asked of him was to wait until I returned home, in two weeks from today. So the thanks I get for keeping his un-educated butt employed for the last three years is a jerk who up and quits the week before I leave. So I am left with a part-timer (who is excellent mind you) and my dad who just returned from being out for surgery recovery!! YAY THANKS BUTT HEAD!!! Here is where Mason and his team come in, I foolishly has used another staffing source who sent me this waste of a temp (oh and get this) SHE LASTED A WHOLE 5 HOURS!!! Seriously I know I'm a good boss but she was uncomfortable around customers.....So in a helluva pickle and quite frantic I called Mason and not only did he understand why I was being so picky BUT he had a guy within an hour or two. He has kept on top of things and send me a guy who works hard and fits in with the crew here well.....Now I applaud him and his company for getting me out of a bind BUT remember I am leaving the country for two weeks AND I WILL RESERVE THE RIGHT TO EDIT my posting at any given point. But if all goes well (as I think it will) I will add that extra star because they have been life savers (or store savers as the case may be) p.s please excuse my over use of the parenthesis....I am still under the impression they add flare to my otherwise drab postings..

I moved out here from NYC without knowing a single person, or a having a job. I met with several of the staffing agencies in the area, Robert Half, CVPartners, Accountemps, Dewinters Group, Elite Network, Finance Solutions, etc. They all did the same show and dance, "you have a great background, we don't see a problem finding you a job. Lets make time to meet." I then went and met with each and every one of them, leaving on the same note. We will call you, and then never hearing from them again. BVOH was different. I met with Alea Harper and yes I will admit she gave me the same show and dance. I had a great resume, and good background and skills. The difference was that she got to really know me and asked me why I moved out here, and what was I looking for in a job. I left on the same note as the rest of them. She will call me when something came up. Within hours Alea was calling me, to let me know Bobby Simon (her co-worker) had a great opportunity. I had a phone screening with a very well know, and very much coveted tech startup company in SF. I started working within days of landing in CA. Alea and Bobby both followed up after my first week, to see how I was liking it, and if I was happy. They continued to stay involved and focused on a monthly basis. I unfortunately left the startup for a perm position I found myself, and that was a mistake. I stuck it out for 5 months, and I was back on the phone with Alea. The team over at BVOH was able to find me a long term gig at another great company in two days. Again Alea and this time Morgan (another co-worker) followed up with me and made sure I was happy, they still follow up with me. I am really happy and satisfied with the work Alea, Bobby, Morgan and Antoinette (office Manager) have done. I feel complete free to email them with any questions I have or concerns for that matter. They really listen and care about the candidates.

The Recruiter who helps you for better or for worse could be working on a commission or salary which might effect how they help you or not help you. PCS helped me when they had the right job order that matched my resume. I had sent that resume a few months before but it wasn't until just a couple of months ago that Debbie called me and told me of this wonderful opportunity working downtown for a non-profit. She walked me thru the interview process and thoroughly prepped me to start the temp assignment and the assignment eventually turned into a full time offer. Debbie Chow, my Recruiter did a great job in getting my references and paperwork together so that in working with internal HR, my transition from temp to full time employee was smooth and painless. I got the job and the money I wanted and she helped in negotiating that I got everything I wanted and that was a great feat especially in today's economy and rocky job market. My thanks to Debbie and Pete and Spring for all of their support. Not every agency can help everyone, that's just the way it is. But give them a try because they will help you in anyway they can! I heard of this place by going to a mandatory appointment in Redwood city from EDD(I am collecting…read moreunemployment). They told me about all the offices in the peninsula that we can get help to get a job. This one in Daly City actually have a new schedule every month to show all their workshops like writing your resume, introduction to computer, email, excel, word and powerpoint, how to ace a phone interview, etc. They also have special programs/workshop for youth (14-21) and job seekers that are Age 55+. You can also use their computer to go online(job searching only). While these are not to my advantage at all... I think they are very good resources for some people in need of help. well I have not been to the workshops and I can't comment on how good they are, but I did make use of their drop-in career counseling 1:30pm to 3:30pm tue to thurs, first come first serve - call to make sure the schedule stays the same). It's a one on one feedback on your resume and interviewing skills + receive job search tips. Mainly I would like someone to look through my resume. I was worried about format and grammar and just want some opinions. He was professional and give me some pointers on the resume... and answered any questions I had. Like I said I did not have high expectation so I really appreciate the help. The receptionist was really nice and helpful also... I am really glad I went.

One of the most annoying, soul-crushing lines is once a year I have to go to the SF HR office to re-up my MUNI lifeline pass. It sucks. But this year I noticed that you can also go to the "Financially Deficient" Mecca known as CareerLink. So I went mid-morning and with no lines at all I renewed my annual Lifeline program and got a new monthly pass. Maybe 5-10 minutes total. At SF HR this could take 1 1/2 hours. Plus you have to stand outside and go through a metal detector! Hurrah for CareerLink! If there is one downside is that the place is staffed with emotionless, downtrodden workers with zero personality. But who cares???

Very pretentious and arrogant. I do work for a "big, well known name" and I'm a strong candidate by my industry standards. She said she would follow up in an email with details about the job (she didn't) No surprise there. I'm 100% OK if a recruiter says to me, I don't think you're a good match for this position, but I'll keep you in mind for future opportunities. I'm not ok someone saying they're going to send job details so we can set up a zoom call and then they just ghost. A good recruiter is going to care about both the the candidate and the client. So rare these days.

She told me she had various jobs that I would be a "fit" for, but over the days, which turned into weeks, she never sent me on any interviews. Then the responses to my e-mails and phone calls became fewer and far between. To the point where I asked myself why I even bothered. I found a different agency and had 4 interviews within 2 weeks. I appreciate the fact that she might not have thought I was qualified, but at least do me the decency of telling me that rather than ignoring me or telling me you have all these wonderful opportunities that you never send me to.
