The breakfast was lovely, very fresh tasting. Good selection of cereals as well. There is parking directly opposite the pub. It is about 5mins walk from lots of restaurants and pubs. There is also an old fashioned sweet shop across the road from the pub, has an amazing range. Nice place to stay to explore the surrounding area.

There are flagstone floors and lots of rood panelling. There's an extensive menu with a range of full meals, and hot and cold sandwiches, and a good range of real ales. In our party the £10 Sunday Roast went down very well, with generous portions and huge Yorkshire puddings. The £12 veggie burger (minced mushroom) was very good and also generously portioned and cake with sweet potato chips and coleslaw. For s busy Sunday, service was very quick and friendly. So, not the cheapest venue but good value if you can manage the portions.

The breakfast room had a lovely view of the turn in the canal. You can easily walk into Nottingham centre along the canal too, where you can get to the cool bars that are on the canal. If you go along canal the opposite way you will meet the Trent river and have a smashing view of Notts Forests City grounds. It's a nice walk too, during which we saw a family of Canada Geese. I guess it'd be a pretty handy hotel for the of Notts Forests games, as well as any of the cricket games at Trent Bridge.
