Today upon arriving at the saffron breakfast buffet in Cebu, they never took our drink order and I had to ask for a drink as I was almost finished with my meal...bad service. Later in the day, I was at the Azure restaurant and I asked for a drink menu. The server brought me a menu and said someone else will come to take your order. After 20 minutes no one came, I left...bad service. I am here for 3 more days. I will update if there are anymore blunders.

The Crimson Resort and Spa is a beautiful beachfront resort located in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines…read more This was the fourth resort I stayed at during my Philippines trip. While the drive to the resort is fairly simple and the surrounding landscape is plain, everything changes the moment you arrive. Once inside the property is exquisite. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and offered a refreshing Cebu iced tea welcome drink. Check-in was quick and pleasant, and I was pleasantly surprised that my room was upgraded to a Deluxe Garden Room. The Deluxe Garden Room features a garden view, a large king size bed and a spacious open plan bathroom with a sunk-in tub and rain shower. The mini bar is complimentary on the first night and includes Cebu mango treats, orange and mango drinks and classic Filipino beer. There is also a mini coffee machine where one can make cappuccinos and mochas. A stay at the Crimson includes a complimentary breakfast buffet at their Saffron restaurant. I was amazed at the selection the buffet. Not only did they have an abundance of Filipino and Western dishes but there was also a congee and sushi bar. They pastry bar selection ranged from classic Filipino ensaymadas to native Cebu sticky rice. I also was impressed that they had fresh smoothies and juices along with a full coffee bar offering different specialty coffees. This hands down was the best breakfast buffet I experienced during my trip. Equally as impressive is the resort's pool area. Located right next to the beach, it offers breathtaking sunrise views and a serene atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing. One thing worth noting is that the resort rooms are quite far from the main lobby and restaurants, so guests will need to take the resort golf cart service. While walking is an option, it can be a bit of a trek. Thankfully, the golf carts are available 24 hours a day. Overall, I really enjoyed my start at Crimson Resort and Spa. The resort is beautiful, serene and peaceful. It is an ideal escape and perfect spot for a holiday vacation.

El Grande Spa offers what could be the cheapest per hour massage in Cebu city at just php100.00 per…read morehour! You'd have to avail of it between 9am to 5pm though as that's their happy hour rate. Of course, with the price you pay, expectations should be kept to a minimum. The place isn't the cleanest, nor the brightest. You will be greeted by a receptionist that sometimes could be your masseur too and there's nothing wrong with that if it helps keep the rate down. The massage area is made up of wooden walls that separates your room from the next one. There is no door, just a flimsy curtain to keep your privacy. The ceiling is bare with iron plumbings in plain view. The massage room is a bit dark and does not have anything to pur your clothes on so you'll have to either settle with the floor or ask them for a hanger. The massage table is sturdy but the linens look worn out and at least the head hole does not smell. The towel isn't the best too as it looks like the ones you buy at php100.00 from the malls. The massage itself though is very good. I didn't get the name of my masseur but he has a really strong, steady hands. He expertly kneads, glides, and applies the right amount of pressure I felt the stress disolving under his masterful palms. This place gets a 3 because there are definitely better alternatives in Cebu. For php100.00/hour though, the price is a steal and you'd be crazy not to trt this place out. The trick here is to keep your expectations to a minimum and just have a relaxing time. I recommend that you drop by at least once to experience their services.
