They are quick to pick up any problems for the child and deal with it in a positive and effective way offering support promptly. The teaching and support staff are enthusiastic and not just stuck to the curriculum. Children are encouraged to learn through their strengths and supported through weaker areas. The school is currently having a new build which will be impressive I am sure and whilst my child no longer is at the school (we moved out of the area) she still is made welcome when we go and visit. Recently extended with superbly built new classrooms, the school was originally built over 1843 the school has some charming features providing a cosy atmosphere. We were particularly impressed with the school's focus on ensuring that new children have a managed start to school with varying attendance levels in the first 6 months aligned to the age and readiness of each individual child. Relationships with parents are managed well, in my opinion, with any problems dealt with fairly and always mindful of the childs welfare.

The head teacher is very committed, she stands in the playground everyday welcoming the children to school and chatting to the parents. She seems to know every child individually. Academically, standards are quite high. Even at Reception stage the children's day was jam-packed with activities, but not to the extent where the children did not get what they were learning. They did so much cooking every week, I wonder how the teachers were so organised! I was very sorry my daughter had to leave when we moved away. A school I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone.

It's been invaluable having her support to fill in the 'gaps' with our NHS provision and help us get the right early interventions in place. She has signposted us to lots of useful resources to ever increase our knowledge base, and has always answered our questions clearly and honestly. She has given us practical and realistic strategies for us to work on at home and at nursery to develop my son's early communication. Everything is 'play-based' so my little boy doesn't even realise it is therapy! Her reports have helped secure further early intervention by being able to demonstrate his difficulties at a very early stage - for which we are very thankful! Her strategies and detailed recommendations have helped ensure us, his nursery, paediatrician, portage worker, and various other therapists and specialists understand his communication needs and all work together effectively. She has given us, as parents, confidence in how to effectively interact with him and is always on hand to offer valuable reassurance and advice. She has been flexible with sessions, meaning we can make the most of our time with her and ensure it complements our NHS sessions. My son loves his therapy sessions - he think's he's just playing! I attended events at Carlisle, and maintained relationships with the staff and heads. This is an excellent infant school (reception - year 2). There is a three form entry, with up to 30 in each class (when my daughter went there, most classes had over 30 due to successful appeals and children moving into the area; this is illegal now). The teachers, many of whom have been there for years and years, are, for the most part committed, caring and effective. The school has effective leadership, and continuity of leadership - the present head has been there over 15 years, and the head before her was there for yonks and yonks. The classrooms are clean and attractively decorated with the children's artwork. The playground has recently undergone some significant improvements, and there is good play (both active and quiet) equipment there. The security is (sadly but necessarily) tight. I am glad my daughter attended Carlisle, and would not hesitate to recommend the school to new parents.

So, inspired by Sarah S who recently reviewed her school, I searched for mine on Yelp and found Epsom College. Epsom College offers education to pupils aged 13-18. There were girls only in the sixth form when I was there (more than, ahem, 20 years ago!) but it's now fully co-ed throughout. I was a full boarder but nowadays, day pupils, day boarding and weekly boarding options are also available. My parents chose Epsom College for me as I had known from a young age that I wanted to be a doctor and Epsom College produces 30-40 medical students a year. They were set up as the Royal Medical Benevolent College and retain many medical links and strong science departments. Epsom College is located on fantastic self-contained grounds just outside the town of Epsom in Surrey. There are lovely acres of green sports fields with buildings ranging from some fantastic old brick buildings to more modern additions. The educational facilities are fantastic and modern and I found the teachers to be inspiring, funny and knowledgeable. Besides the education I received, I was also grateful to have had a chance to experience so many extra-curricular activities in the school's marvellous facilities. I love sport and in the 6th form, I managed to play a range of different sports for 6 hours in an afternoon just because I could, from swimming to fencing to developing my love of hockey which I still play to this day. There was a well-equipped art studio and the music school offered individual lessons as well as the ability to play in small ensemble groups to full orchestras. There are other clubs catering for other interests from model trains to bridge. The school cadet force is compulsory for the first 3 years which teaches you to shoot, tackle assault courses and learn to work in a hierarchy. In the sixth form, I swapped this for the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme and social services. Thespians have a lot of opportunity to tread the boards. The communcal canteen is still there and I've noted that the dining choices are much healtheir on a recent visit compared to my time. The school is divided into boarding houses, which enables you to develop closer friends and also to enable you to develop a competitive spirit representing your house in different competitions. The facilities are being updated continuously and last year, I attended the opening ceremony for a new wing on my old boarding house, Forest House. On the visit, I noted a lot of new changes since my time but the old snooker table was still there :-) I loved my time at Epsom College. I'm still involved in school through the old boy network and I still play in the Old Boys Hockey Match occasionally. Looking at the new facilities and the happy faces of today's students, sometimes, I almost wish I could be back here.

They have a small outdoor area with a slide and lots of ride on toys for the children, as well as areas for doing gardening and teaching the children. The inside has a quiet room, a messy area for cooking or doing arts and crafts and another area for general play and learning and roleplay is encouraged. I can't praise this preschool highly enough.
