Thankfully, it worked perfectly when i got it back, and although I would have had to pay extra to have my files backed up, I had so little on there the staff kindly did it for free. In the end, and thanks to my student discount, I ended up paying around £80 for the whole job. Which did hurt a bit. One thing I would appreciate would have been an upfront price, because they charged me for the amount of time and workmanship needed for the job, rather than giving me a proper quote. My laptop is doing much better, and they did reinstall a new operating system for me, although they were a bit stingy and wanted me to pay for the anti virus as well. Or maybe I'm the stingy one, I dunno.

Like many independent computer shops, they offer a range of services - from sales of new and refurbished PCs, accessories and peripherals; to repairs and upgrades. I was almost forced into using this shop when my old laptop became overrun with viruses and spyware due to a poor choice of antivirus software on my part. A quick search online revealed this to be the closest to where I lived, and so I paid them a visit. Their repair team were able to successfully restore my computer back to full health in a few days, and were also able to recommend a better antivirus product. I found the staff to be helpful and attentive, taking time to explain the repairs in detail, as well as providing useful advice about how to avoid a similar situation in the future. Although the shop may appear small from the outside, the website belies the fact that this is shop that can do a lot for you. I don't regret using them at all - after their work, the laptop ran for another 3 years. I have recommended them to my friends, and I would commend them to you! A great alternative if you want to avoid the massive national chain stores.

We all have little tricks to sort out quirks, but this got to the stage that I would have to rub it here, poke it there, blow it somewhere else (don't start making up your own jokes) and take out the battery to make it work. When it took about 1hour and 45 minutes to start up, it became a bit ridiculous so instead of letting him go to laptop heaven I called the PC Doctor. Mainly because I was amused by the name, but it seemed appropriate in my case. So in I went and my little laptop was rushed straight to computer ER, with me watching nervously on, like a father worrying for his child. Soon the diagnosis came back, and it was bad. I slowly sat down in shock, not believing the words I was hearing. 'I'm sorry sir, he seems too far gone'. WHY GOD WHYYY??? 'But...' and there it was, my lifeline - the word every man hopes for when his loved one is slipping away from him 'But there is a radical new treatment we could try. DO IT MAN, DO IT!, WHY ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS!!! And so it was done, and a few weeks later I turned up with a bouquet of flowers and some grapes to see my bruised and battered little laptop being rolled out on a wheelchair, soon to be in my arms again. And he was fixed. Yaayyy!! Back to reality though, and the PC Doctor, despite his frankly ridiculous name, is really good. He sorted out all the viruses and malware and got it back pretty much as good as new. It is not as good as I first got it and is deteriorating slightly, but to be honest I think that is more down to the fact I download an ungodly amount of music (and that's not an innuendo for porn) than anything else. As with all these companies, the PC Doctor is not too cheap but he will fix pretty much all problems, which is all you can ask for really.

I'd heard of Asset IT from another friend and recommended he resolve he issue with them. Sure enough the dissertation was salvaged, along with the laptop. What surprised me was the swiftness of such a repair, it only took one full day. In situations like this the money isn't really a factor to consider but I was well informed it was inexpensive.
