Great dinner in Leavenworth. We sat at the bar because we did not make a rezzie and it was quite a wait. But no problem sitting at the bar - nice a cozy with the 3 of us at the corner. Pretty amazing spot. This might be the best restaurant in leavenworth, although it's on the pricey side. It's hard to get a table on Fri / Sat / Sun walking in. You need a reservation I would say 95% of the time, unless you are walking in on Friday evening with a party of two. Since it's homemade pasta, the food comes out within 3 minutes. I loved it. We have been in search for some really great Italian food and was satisfied tonight! It's a cute little place kind of hidden in the back street as you head to the Emergency hospital and Posthotel to the left. If you aren't careful, you will miss it. The female at the bar came to our table and took our order. We did ask for some good recommendations that we took advantage of. Our choice of drinks were brought to the table. We had the Crab and Shrimp cake (recommended). It came with two medium size patties served with a sauce. This was delicious! Larch, you had me at handcrafted pasta. Before coming here, I had watched several videos & this was one of the recommended places. Earlier in the day, I had checked if there any reservations open, there weren't. So we decided to go there somewhat early to put our name in, in case there was a wait. Lucky for us, there was a table open in the bar area. . So many different pastas, it was hard to decide. The one that caught my eye though was linguini. We also ordered some focaccia to start. The focaccia came out warm, soft, & fluffy. Never had it that fluffy before & it was a big serving. Saved some for my dinner, so I could dip it in my leftover pasta sauce. The star of the show was that linguini! The tang of the lemon sauce,but not too sour due to the cream & the saltiness of the prosciutto was the perfect combo. My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here while we were in town. The food impressed us, some of the best Italian we've ever had. My partner ordered the pappardelle, I ordered their mushroom ravioli as their vegetarian option. Both were extremely delicious, hand made pasta. As appetizers, we had the arancini and focaccia. The focaccia blew us out of the park! Our waiter (I think his name was Dan?), gave us amazing service. Stopped at Larch for dinner while passing through and it ended up being one of those meals you wish you could repeat the next night. Adorable modern rustic style with low lighting. The focaccia bread set the tone right away, light and fluffy on the inside with a perfectly crisp, well-seasoned crust. Honestly hard to stop eating it. The wine selection was thoughtfully curated and had great options to pair with everything on the menu. The pappardelle was cooked to perfection, rich, balanced, and clearly made with care. Hands down the most meal we have enjoyed during I time in Leavenworth. Dan was our server and he took great care of us. Larch has a very warm and inviting vibe that gives you a big hug when you arrive. The aroma of deliciousness fills your nose before you sit down. We enjoyed a glass of wine and coffee martini with our meal and both were perfect. Our meal began with steam clams that were so flavorful and well prepared we almost asked for a second order! Arrived with a party of 4 at 5:20ish. The place was basically empty with several tables and benches open. We asked to sit at one of those and the host said only the bar high tops were available. We tried negotiating since it was EMPTY but nope. We sat at the high tops (which is no fun with older guests). The place remained empty until our meal ended at 6:20pm. Only a few more tables were snagged by the "reserved" guests. I understand honoring reservations but it's okay to say "we have guests reserved for (whatever) time. Can you finish by then?". Luckily there were reservations available when I looked same day. I would definitely recommend getting reservations because they get busy during the dinner rush! My boyfriend and I love pasta so we couldn't wait to try this place, and it did not disappoint! First, Larch is tucked away from the main strip a bit and is pretty modest and rustic, which we liked. It just felt less touristy and more intimate. It's probably one of the nicer dining experiences in town but still pretty casual. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and drink. My boyfriend ordered an Old Fashioned, which was great (made with a real sugar cube and not syrup!). I can't recall the name of my drink (pictured) but it was too tart for me! I like citrus, but this one tasted like straight lemon juice. We ordered the crab cakes, focaccia, and octopus to start, and ordered the linguini with scallops and gochujang pasta for entrees. The crab cakes were ok - they were crispy but I prefer my crab cakes to be more loaded with lump crab and less batter. The octopus was tender but I personally wasn't a huge fan of the more tomato-based sauce. The focaccia was to die for--melt in your mouth! I think it was the best focaccia I've had at a restaurant. We loved both pasta dishes but they were very different. The linguini was very lemony, which felt light and summery, and the scallops were cooked perfectly. We didn't know what to expect for the gochujang pasta but that was definitely our favorite! We loved sweet / savory combination and the kick, and it was just something different to try. I like that the restaurant markets itself as a northwest pasta restaurant and not Italian, as it gives some creative freedom for dishes like this. The PERFECT date night spot. We made a reservation the morning of and were able to snag a spot at 8:30 pm and boyyyyy was that wait worth it. We got the summer peach salad to start and it was PERFECT. So delicious, light, and refreshing. I got the pappardelle pasta and it was amazing. I almost wish it was a tad MORE rich because it was so good. My husband got the pasta that has the gochugang cream sauce it was really good too. His pasta was SUPER rich and had a nice spice too it. I wish I could give it 3.5 but I'd probably rate it a 3 overall. Let's start with the positives: - amazing focaccia bread. It's $10 which seems a lot for starter bread and restaurants usually comp them for free on the table. But it's worth it. Trust me. Get the focaccia bread and thank me later! -pastas are all made in-house which is great. I could definitely taste it's homemade from our dishes. Negatives: -really overpriced even for Leavenworth. For comparison, the pasta dishes at Carmine's - Bellevue location which is an upscale Italian restaurant is cheaper for their pasta selections. It was at least $30 per pasta entree and the portion sizes were so small. -I felt the flavors were off. The mushroom ravioli was good, but a bit too rich and creamy. It was overly salty to me which took away from the pure taste of the ravioli filling. The sauce was a bit of a distraction rather than a compliment to the ravioli. - the seafood scampi pasta we ordered do not look like the pictures we saw on other reviews with mussels and clams, scallops inside. We got this cut up shrimp pieces that were Julianned and the sauce was a bit spicy and tasted Asian. I was expecting a traditional Italian flavored seafood pasta. So it threw us off a bit. I probably wouldn't dine here again. We were seated in the bar and it was so noisy I couldn't hear my husband sitting next to me. We got a cramped corner table even through they had 4 other open tables and the restaurant though they said was completely booked didn't look full. The service was also kind of slow. We had to flag down our waiter multiple times and try to catch him to see if he would look in our direction since we were in the corner. I had a headache after the meal because of the loud noise. 5 stars for the foccacia bread but im afraid everything else in our experience was probably a 3-3.5 at most. Amazing pastas. Was slightly disappointed in the focaccia and the Caesar salad (the Caesar had a sharp taste to it that none of us liked - maybe it was the cheese). But the pastas were fantastic. Considering that there wasnt much to do or eat around Leavenworth, I stumbled upon this place while walking around. Came on a Friday night around 6pm and the restaurant was already popping. Granted it is a smaller place but there seemed to be a line out the door by 6:30pm. The service was really nice. The waiter was super attentive and always rushed to fill our waters when it was empty. He also gave recommendations that I appreciated since there are quite a few pastas that were popular. Heres what I got: Brussels Sprouts (4/5): they were delicious and pairs well with the balsamic vinaigrette glaze Mushrooms (5/5): ordered without thinking that the mushrooms were going to be the exact same as the brussels sprouts but still very delicious non the less.. There were many other cool restaurants, but we went with the local's favorite so we had no expectation. Larch was located behind the main street, not so hidden. We had quite a feast, but what stood out were Arancini, Octopus, and Casarecce. Arancini was crispy on the outside, oozy with cheese inside, Octopus was tender. We loved Casarecce so much we couldn't stop thinking about it. Pasta was perfectly cooked, tender brisket, and the sauce was spicy and flavorful. It was such a surprise having to taste a pasta dish with an Asian twist using gochujang. Still thinking about that pasta dish until today. One of the rarest restaurants that does really well in the small town of Leavenworth, and it was worth it. Please do keep the Casarecce pasta in the menu, forever.
