I mean 1 star it's a lot for a barber who used the same blade on different neck (HELLO, THATS HOW PEOPLE GET DISEASES). It was my first time going there and they looked enthusiastic about anything, there was no barbershop feeling in anyway. Mike (misha in Russian) was his name, he simply does know how to cut hair it's that simple. Terrible haircut. When I went in, the first thing I asked Meyer, who I later learned was the owner, was if they do scissors only cuts. He said, "yes, except for the back of the neck." No more than 5-minutes later, he is using shears on the top. It flips-up like crazy. This barber either does not listen to instructions well or does not plan on following them. read more

The haircut I got here was the epitome of a rush job. My barber just seemed to want it over as quickly as possible, and barely asked any questions. It didn't feel like he actually took any time to make it look good. I asked for a slight taper and the guy grunted "too late" and haphazardly took a razor to the sides. He didn't bother to brush any loose hair away so I had to walk home with hair all over my face. At the end he just said "Good? Good." and waked over to the counter for me to pay. I showered and now I can see that I have hair in the back sticking up all over the place. *Edit: I'm giving it another star because it was only one of the barbers, and the person beside me in the shop got a cut that looked good. I went to Larchmont Barber Shop earlier in the day with my brother, who actually posted a review about a half hour before mine. It is unfortunate that Yelp does not provide reviewers with the option of attaching an image with a review because, I think the image of my haircut explains just about everything that went wrong at this place. Truthfully, my brother and I have been looking for a new barber ever since our old barber left the United States for his hometown in Albania (No, he was not Taken by Liam Neeson. I think). After looking through Yelp reviews of barbershops and haircutters near us, we found high reviews and an extremely reasonable price at Larchmont Barber Shop. Also, being that it was a Sunday, with most barber shops closed, we were left with limited options that mostly included expensive places in Greenwich. Regardless, we decided that we would give this place a chance, considering that it had 25 reviews and a 5 star rating on yelp (I don't know how the hell that happened). Upon arrival, parking was relatively easy to find, even though it is located on Palmer Avenue, which is a busy street that really highlights the outside of the shop. The barbershop, which faces Palmer Avenue, has a decorative inside and is well-kept, with adequate seating. All three chairs were filled and we were waiting behind a few customers, but we weren't in much of a rush, so the waiting time was nothing extraordinary. We waited about 25 minutes before Mike (middle chair) became available, but it appeared like the customer that was currently in his chair, was receiving a really sharp, detail-oriented haircut. We joked that out haircuts were going to take two hours (because we both needed a haircut badly) if the customer before us took seemingly an hour. Little did we know that our haircuts, combined, would not even take as long as 20 minutes. When Mike finally become available, I specifically mentioned to him what I wanted my hair to be cut to a specific length. He had a horrifically difficult time understanding anything that I told him, as I often had to repeat myself and reassure him during the haircut. After that 1 minute debacle, Mike mentioned, "Did you lose a bet?", which I completely did not understand at all, and had no clue what he was even referring to. He seemed to know what he was doing for most of my haircut until the very end, when it was too late, after he cut off way too much of my hair, and left me with an awkwardly medium-length, abbreviated haircut on top, flanked by short hair on the sides. In other words, I look like a 5-year-old kid who let his Dad cut his hair. I could probably check into a mental hospital without being questioned with this haircut. My brother went after me, also with Mike, and tried to adjust Mike's haircut approach, after he saw my laughable haircut. Within a few moments of my brother telling Mike about the haircut he wanted (and didn't want), Mike looked around in confusion, and Myre starts talking to him in his native language. My brother looked confused and bothered with this exchange, before his haircut ended in maybe 5-7 minutes. I am not saying that Mike is not a fast barber but how does he take, at minimum, 30 minutes, to cut a man's thinning hair to perfection, while cutting both of our hair in less than 20 minutes. Pretty fucking incredible for a guy who can barely speak English. "No good barber works on Sunday." Should've listened to that one. Never again with this shitty place. read more

I recently moved and was in need of a new barber. I am very particular when it comes to my cuts so I was pleasantly surprised to find this amazing shop. Mike took care of me and did an amazing job, leaving me with one of the best haircuts I have had to date. I hate "hair salon" establishments and insist on getting my hair and beard trimmed up at a traditional barber shop - complete with barber shop scents and a barber shop feel.
