I have been a patient of the Eye Care Center for a few years now and always have been very pleased…read morewith the service. In October, I had cataract surgery. After speaking extensively with Dr. Ditkoff, his recommendation "if you don't do the multifocal lens or crystal lens, you won't be able to see the dashboard of your car" despite knowing that I had had Lasik surgery about 15 years ago. This lens was $3000 per eye. Based on his recommendation I chose to do it. The lens did not work. I was made aware by another another facility that because of the Lasik surgery it is higher risk and And may not work. If I was told this from the beginning I might not have chosen to go with this lens. it would've been my decision. I feel that I was totally misinformed. And now I'm out $3000. Buyer beware. If you've had Lasik surgery know that a multifocal lens may not be the way you want to go. At a follow up visit he had complimented a pair of sneakers I was wearing and said "I like your sneakers too bad you can't see them" I did not find this funny. Needless to say I just had my second eye done with just a regular lens with Dr Boywala everything is wonderful.

First let me say, please believe everything you read about the wait times. You sit in the lobby…read morefor what seems like forever, just to be taken into a room, have something done, and then moved to another waiting room in the back until the next person takes you. But let's talk about Janice who works the front office. She is hands down the absolute worst at customer service. I made an appt for my kid and. I stated my name when I called and gave her my child's info. She asked for group number and I gave it. All is well, or so I thought. She calls me the next day with an attitude before noon saying my child is not coming up in the system. I said well I gave the group number, let me give you the member id and see if that works. I give her the first letter and she says, "no that's what you gave me yesterday and I don't do this, someone else does this, but I'll see if it works." well first the letter of the id and plan are the same. Had she let me finish, she would have found out. Then she just nastier and nastier. Whose plan is this and addressing me by my wife's name, that I never mentioned. Well who is she, it says spouse, what's her relation, you told me that was your name, etc... Her tone, her rudeness, everything just rubbed me the wrong way to the point I immediately found another provider and canceled my appointment. The drs here are good, but not worth the horrible customer service.

Dr. Robert Wertheimer with Essex Eye Physicians changed my life with expert cataract removal and…read morelens implant.  I now have 20/20 distance vision in both eyes - without eyeglasses! Prior to the procedure, I needed glasses even to see "the big E."  The feeling I had of a lump in each eye - gone!  Colors and white are now brilliant.   The doctor treated me with respectful care and attention, no rushing.  Waiting time at appointments was reasonable, and the staff were polite.  Prior to the procedure I was anxious and squeamish, and Dr. Wertheimer spoke calmly. During appointments before and after the procedure, Dr. Wertheimer had no difficulty administering eye drops and eye pressure testing.   The procedure itself took place at the Ridgedale Surgery Center in Cedar Knolls, NJ.  There the nurses were kind and patient.  I was given numbing eye drops and intravenous sedation.  There was no discomfort during the laser removal of the cataracts.  For the lens implant, I felt a brief pain in the first eye.  When I was getting eye drops for the second eye,  I asked for extra numbing.  I felt no pain at all that way.   I had a one month wait between the first and second eyes.  I would suggest a shorter waiting period whenever possible, because there is imbalance of vision between the eye that is done and the one that isn't done.

I read this practice as OK. The reason why I said that I have gotten my eyes examined at the Verona…read moreoffice because they have two locations so I got my eyes examined service wasn't bad at all. I'm not sure to give this a star or not but never go to the optical place inside this business because you get the runaround, like I did as soon as I put my prescription in to the person that does the glasses I wait about a week I went down to the Verona location numerous of times still got the runaround on the website says on Mondays do open it 8 to 7 so I came down there after work. Nobody was in there at the Vernon location. They don't consider that people work and so I asked the lady that does the glasses to bring them down to the Belleville location so she did. I went there about 11 o'clock on September 27. As soon as I walk inside the door, she said she'll be right with me then the nurse came out started modeling stuff about me questioning her the lady that does the glasses about me. When am I therefore the lady does the glasses after talking to one of the people that work there about me? What am I here for? I said I'm here to pick up and I was waiting patiently, so after she was done with the person that was ahead of me that's when she got me she finally took me and I finally got my glasses. I have been going to this eye doctor place for years ever since the founder, of the original founder of Dr. Eichler before he died my grandparents used to go there. I've been going to the eye doctor since before Dr. Eichler Senior died, and I have not ever received this treatment in my life .
