Because I paid what the car was worth and not what they wanted for the car I did not receive a warranty. Ok, if I'm buying a good car I shouldn't need a 30 day warranty anyway so I should be safe. The car made it 75 days when the head gasket went. The car was in the shop for two months after the head gasket repair because of a timing code. I then had to take it to a Volvo dealer because the first shop couldn't figure out what was wrong. The out come is a junk engine that needs to be replaced. That aside you really can't predict mechanical failure so let me move on to the "Brand new tires". They were hung up on the new tires that they had put on, and pushed quite a bit during the sale. After a short time it would appear that an alignment was never done, so my new tires started cupping. After blowing off some steam in this review and being quite frustrated with my situation, my wife decided to call the dealer just to inform them of what was going on. The owner Derek was quick to respond to her and talk through the issue, but quite frankly Lake City doesn't owe us anything. Because I did not receive a warranty as part of the bargaining process and I would have been beyond the warranty time line anyway. What happened next is the surprise and how every person should run a business. Derek contacted me and said that he would have the tires replaced because it's obvious that something was not right. AND because he wants to take care of his customers the best he can, he's going to give me some money towards the engine replacement. I really appreciate Lake City Exports' customer loyalty and the help that they have given me, above and beyond what they should have. If you ever purchase a vehicle from them and have an issue large or small contact them right away and I'm sure they'll help if they can. Thank you Lake City for your customer care.

(Under 100 miles over 80,000) Timing chain went on truck within 2 months. IWE system started being noisey within a month and half. Still isn't right after the dealer has looked at it 3 times. And when I called and asked if they could just hook me up with a mechanic that could get in sooner than the dealer, (I literally stated I don't expect them to do a thing for me as I'm outside their warranty), I got "what do you expect us to do for you". Did end up calling his mechanic who basically told me their first apt availability was a month out. I would say "Buy with confidence" anywhere else and I truly hope this helps someone in the future when looking at their motto.

If there were a way to leave negative stars, this place would deserve all of them--and then some…read more Avoid them like the plague. I bought a vehicle from them two months ago. Within 60 miles--not weeks, not months--the check engine light came on. That's not coincidence. That's a problem they either ignored or intentionally hid. Trying to resolve it was an absolute joke. Calls went unanswered. Messages ignored. When they finally decided to respond, it wasn't to help--it was to get defensive and combative. Any hope of a straightforward, good-faith conversation was immediately shut down. They claimed they'd help cover the cost of major repairs. That promise turned out to be completely hollow. Not a single dollar. Not a single follow-through. Just words to get you off their back. Let's not sugarcoat it: this is the kind of place that will take a vehicle with known issues, clear the codes, and push it out the door as if nothing's wrong--leaving you to deal with the consequences the second you're out of sight. Biggest mistake I made? Trusting them. I asked for maintenance records and was brushed off, and I let it slide because they seemed "reasonable" in person. That was a costly lesson. Don't make the same one. If you value your time, your money, and your sanity, go literally anywhere else.

Two gentlemen that have been in the used car business for many decades. As Good Guys used autos and trucks they have a niche business plan whereby most of the used cars they buy are acquired from local new car dealerships. They buy the trade-ins. The condition of the acquired vehicles is for the most part know. The 2021 Ford F-150 that they sold me deviated from their standard business plan. It was acquired at an auction in Texas. Maybe they were attracted by the salt free roads in Texas. A number of issues have arisen since my purchase on 9/11/24. When I came to pickup the truck after the purchase I was told a new battery had to be purchased (by them). They installed the new battery and I took delivery of the truck. The next day when the truck was at my home (Nobleboro) , the battery was dead. I jumped the battery and went back to Brunswick. Guy of GG said it must be a bad new battery. I got the new different battery, went home and the next morning the battery charge was depleted. After 2 (two) more trips to Brunswick a mechanic replaced a faulty fuse circuit board. There was no charge(monetary) for this battery issue. It took (4) 60 mile trips to Brunswick to get it right. GG has a 1 bay garage but have trouble with staffing a skilled mechanic. 4 Wheel Drive Issue On October 31, 2024 ( 50 days after purchase) I was in Friendship hauling a boat out and needed the 4 wheel drive, the truck would not go into and come out of 4 wheel drive and warning lights appears on the dash saying SERVICE VEHICLE -DO NOT DRIVE. I called Guy at GG and told him I was having the truck hauled to Brunswick. After several days Guy told me he had the mechanic look at the truck and there was no problem and he had driven the truck several miles. I had no reason to use 4 wheel drive until the first January snow storm and the same issue as in October appeared. At this time I did what I should have done before the truck was purchased--I took it to my local garage (certified inspection station) and had a computerized system scan performed. Error codes displayed for the 4 wheel drive, A/C system and the mechanic reported the truck was out of alignment and had excessive front tire wear because of the alignment issue. I took the truck to another mechanic (certified inspection station) for a second opinion and schedule the work if needed. I advised Guy at GG of the issues and I needed it repaired. Maine Towing and Collision of Waldoboro diagnosed and repaired the faulty 4 WD system for $886.45. Dominic D'Alessio had issued a 6 month extended warranty with a 3rd party (ASC), but this company declined to cover the repair. Dominic D'Alessio said he GG would not reimburse the repair. At the time of the diagnosis I had driven the truck less than 3000 miles. FRONT END ALIGNMENT-BALL JOINT- TIRE WEAR ISSUE While the truck was at Maine Towing and Collision the mechanic confirmed the truck was out of alignment and the ball joints were in need of replacement. I told the mechanic when I bought the truck it had a less than one month old vehicle inspection sticker. I asked the mechanic if the ball joints could be wore this badly in 5 months driven less than 3000 miles (from the time of the sticker being applied to the time of his inspection). He said it was an issue to be pursued. The repair estimate is for $1,039.19. from Maine Towing and Collision. Dominic D'Alessio said he would not reimburse this repair. I need to now appeal to the state of Maine State Police inspection division to investigate a possible inspection sticker issue. There was an A/C system issue that was reported to GG on September 18, 2024. With the assistance of Guy of GG the repair was completed March 13, 2025. 6 months after the initial report. GG purchase more than 100s of used cars each year. I purchase 1 vehicle every 5 years. I have never had such an unsatisfactory used vehicle purchase in my 50 years of buying vehicle. My advice is if you go to GG deal with Guy. Have the vehicle thoroughly evaluated by an independent certified mechanic. An except from GG mission statement reads, "we are proud of the quality used cars we sell and our dedication to serve the needs of our customers" . in my case the GG mission did not ring true. To be completely fair, the vehicles GG buy from their local car dealerships are known and are satisfactory. However my truck was purchased in a Texas auction and I know it had surprises. In my last conversation with Dominic he said customers are not getting new cars they are used vehicles. He is correct, but when I purchased a 2021 truck for $27,000+ I expected more than what I have gotten. For the repairs listed my $27,000 truck is costing an additional $1900! Next stop small claims court.

I said, "A left wheel bearing? Are you sure?" They told me with certainty that it needed to be done. It was shot. I said I would call back. After hanging up I went thru my records and saw that they charged me $1,100 for a left wheel bearing and right control arm in Dec 2024. The only difference was that the car was under my name in Dec, and under my husbands name in Sept, so they didn't realize they had already done it and not that long ago. When I called back they sort of fumbled and said that it must have been a faulty wheel bearing and that it happens from time to time but that it was under warranty and to come back to have it done. So after a lot of coordinating to bring it back after getting the engine done somewhere else, we got it in this Tuesday only to get a call a few hours later that said, "Your left wheel bearing is fine. You don't need one." To which I said, "Then how were you so certain it needed to be done before?" They didn't have a clear answer. Without going more into detail, I don't trust this establishment and have since heard very similar experiences from others.
