Just spoke to the Manager, Jamie. What a true professional and asset to the organization. A business should always be concerned with a less than postive review and she reached out. Jamie listened to my issues with the service that evening and didn't give excuses. We agreed that although sometimes people fall short of expectations, it's important to be on your game no matter what. Let me first start by saying, the food is delicious (when cooked to the right temperature), but the service, that's a bit questionable. The other night we checked in for our reservation & the hostess proceeded to take us to our table. She initially took us to a table set for 6, meanwhile we were a party of 7, so she motioned for us to sit at the next table, which was set for 7 people. Upon walking to our table & pulling out our chairs, a man in a suit, who I presume was the manager, asked if we had been helped. He completely caught us off guard because we hadn't even sat down yet. I answered him yes, & then he proceeded to tell me that usually someone from the front would walk us to our table (as if we had just walked into the restaurant & sat ourselves). What?! I responded & told him the host did. In actuality, she walked us to the vicinity of our table, not right up to our table, but that's a discussion for him to have with the hostess. Being we were customers & this was a nicer restaurant in comparison to a more casual or fast food place, the way in which the manager confronted us & handled the situation was completely unprofessional. Anyways, the rest of our party soon joined us & after ordering drinks & a couple of appetizers, we ordered our food. Well, out of the 3 medium well steaks we ordered, all 3 were brought to us rare (red & much more raw inside than we prefer, or ordered). We sent all 3 back & when they came back, they were better, but still not medium well). This is surprising because being Larsen's is a steakhouse, I would think the cooks would be able to gauge the temperatures more accurately. Needless to say, the seasoning they use gives their steaks a delicious flavor, so we did enjoy that. Another issue we encountered was our waiter, although very nice, took the initiative of charging our party for extra kids chicken tenders, simply because our friends' daughters were sharing them & had asked for an extra plate. While that was a kind gesture, he should have asked their parents if they would like extra tenders, not just do it & then charge us. Also, my friend's husband ordered 2 sides with his prime rib, thinking it came with 2 sides. When the bill came it reflected the $10 additional side, so he asked the waiter about how it, to which the waiter responded that the menu clearly states that it only comes with one side. I understand that & our friend's husband clearly didn't see that (nor did we pay attention when he ordered it, we were talking), but typically in cases like this, the waiter would let the person know that they would be happy to accommodate their request, but that the extra side will be an additional charge. After being at the restaurant for over 2 hours between the slow service, issues with our steaks, & discrepancies over the additional charges (which the waiter did take care of), we left a little less than satisfied with the restaurant, & the waiter was clearly not happy with us. Although the waiter took care of everything, not once did the manager come back to our table to apologize or ask how everything was. Usually when there's an issue, the manager will stop by the table to check in. I don't know that we'll be returning to this location. read more

Let me start by saying this: We love Larsen's Grill and the food is always delicious, but we did have a recent disappointing experience, unfortunately. My fiancé and I made Valentine's Day reservations about two weeks in advance because we were really looking forward to eating here -- especially the burgers. They only offer one type of burger and it is DELICIOUS. But there was no mention anywhere on OpenTable or the restaurant's website that a prix fixe menu would be required for the holiday. Only after we were seated at our table were we given a prix fixe menu and told it was the only option. The burgers we specifically came for weren't available, so we had to leave without ordering. It was embarrassing, frustrating, and very disappointing, especially since this was a special occasion we planned ahead for. The issue wasn't the prix fixe menu itself -- it was the lack of communication beforehand. A simple notice during booking would have saved us the time and disappointment. read more

Third time coming here and I have to say I won't be back. I came for happy hour and the server was friendly but once again we had to get a manager to get our bill and leave. Very strange but consistent from past history. Made the mistake of ordering fish tacos, they were fried but very little fish? My friend loved her filet mignon sliders and says she gets much better service in The dining room. I sure hope so and they have to because this place is busy. I came here for dinner and I was sat at the bar immediately. The servers and bartenders were wonderful and very attentive. There is a variety of liquor and cocktails to choose from. The atmosphere is super upscale and chill. Great place to take a date here. Although the menu is a little pricey, you can definitely feel the freshness of the ingredients and it tastes delicious. I recommend coming here between 5 and 7 to take advantage of their happy hour deals on alcohol and food. People were complaining all around drinks came routinely then that was never a refill on water or even asking to refill our drink wine! They were a little busy , but when we finally had someone come to the table it had been 25 minutes or so I asked the server what was up he said understaffed with a not so caring attitude. I really wanted to love this place, but I never do, but my husband likes their Filet Mignon Prime. In my opinion this restaurant is extremely expensive and over priced. The service was excellent, Shannon is an excellent waitress. Jaimie is an attentive manager who touches base with each table. We said it was good, but good is really not great, especially at these prices. The Filet Mignon 8 oz. Dry aged Prime is $69, mine was cooked perfectly, medium rare plus, but oh my, tasteless. Not an ounce of seasoning. My husband said his was good. They offered to take it back for more seasoning, I appreciated it, but I wasn't confident they could pull it off without overcooking. The $69 price only includes 1 side. We selected the loaded potato. That was a disappointment too. It was already opened almost flat with just cheese pressed/melted on it, very hard not a fluffy potato. The sour cream and butter served on the side. My husband said his potato was weird too. The salad? Unfortunately the ceasar salad was swimming in the dressing. Again, service was excellent and the staff tries really hard to please. I just won't be back, my husband may give it another try. I would give it a 2 star, but with my husband liking his steak, I pressed the 3 star button. read more

I'm very happy that we have a proper fine dining steakhouse in Simi. The decor of this place is upscale and the bathrooms are nice, they have mouthwash which is an extra classy thing to have. This place is fabulous! This is our second time here, and so far we have enjoyed all our meals. The service from Chris was Exceptional, and the ambiance was relaxing and comfortable. Filet mignon sashimi and the bacon wrapped shrimp is going to be our go-to appetizers! SO good! The Lobster bisque was heavenly, and my husband enjoyed his surf and turf. The presentation for these dishes are beautiful. My blackened chicken pesto was OK, and my daughter enjoyed her California roll. Note: Fit in dessert! I promise you, you won't regret it. We typically visit Larsen's in Woodland Hills and absolutely love it, especially for their happy hour. Wanting to try something new, we decided to check out Larsen's Grill for its BBQ offerings, also during happy hour to enjoy the vibe. Unfortunately, the BBQ selection was underwhelming. We ordered ribs, which had an unusual, off-putting flavor. The other appetizers we tried were decent, though the crab cakes and tacos, as always, stood out positively. On the bright side, their drinks are excellent, and the atmosphere is pleasant. We'll stick to our usual Woodland Hills location moving forward. read more

So disappointed with our experience tonight :( we came to Larsen's Grill to celebrate my Wife's birthday & we were so excited because we were craving a nice steak! But other than the garlic bread rolls, Lobster Roll & Creme Brûlée dessert, the food was very underwhelming. We ordered a dozen Oysters and for some reason, it had this weird (not fresh) after taste. My Wife and I eat a lot of oysters so we were not happy with the ones we got. Our Caesar Salad was a bit salty and then we ordered the 20oz Porterhouse Steak w/ Mushroom Toppings and it came out very salty. They were nice enough to redo another steak and this time it came with the mushrooms on the side. The Steak was good but the mushrooms were still very salty! It's was just a turn off after that because when you're gonna pay $70-$80 for a steak, this shouldn't happen. Whoever is back there cooking up the dishes needs to chill with the Salt! I'd rather add salt to my dishes. The Manager came over to address our concerns and we appreciated that but it still didn't change our experience tonight. Our server Shannon was AMAZING! We felt bad because she was outstanding and it wasn't her fault our food came out salty. The ambiance inside was nice, not too crowded. Sat down at 6:50 and wasn't helped so we got up and left at 7:40. Totally forgotten about. My wife and I were sat outside and no one checked in on us. A restaurant that works in that manner should focus on their service rather than their pricing because sitting there with nothing, not even a water, is crazy. Was looking forward to celebrating a friend's birthday here. We decided to order their seafood platter which was Lobster, Shrimp Scampi, King crab legs and one side. We did ask prior to ordering how much it was. So we were shocked that when the large platter came it had one tiny lobster and I mean tiny, 6 regular size shrimps and one crab leg cut in half and our side of asparagus for $150!!! We asked if it was shareable, they said yes. Not only was the lobster small, it was completely overcooked as well as the shrimp. You couldn't even cut the lobster it was so rubbery. Our server was very friendly and kind and did bring us another lobster . Honestly we should have just sent the whole thing back. Was not at all worth the price. As far as a steak house goes, we didn't order any due to the photo on the wall of small calf's. I really don't want to look at a photo of the animal I'm about to eat. Thanksgiving! Visiting my mum and we didn't have reservations. What?? Yes, it happens! We checked out Larsen's as they were open, and they looked busy. Immediately they were warm, welcoming, and the decorations looked beautiful! There was allocated seating for walk-ins, and that was perfect! They offered a special menu, a thanksgiving dinner or many selections from steaks, seafood, and many wonderful options. Choices!! My boyfriend and mum got their thanksgiving feast. For me? If I don't cook my own feast, as no one can cook like me- I don't bother to be disappointed. Just a fact. So I ordered a beautiful filet with a great salad, and twice baked potato. We started with cocktails. Our server was Allen from the bar, and what a terrific young man! My mum is 90 years old, and doesn't act like it, but all the servers were so kind and complimentary to my mum, it made her day!!! This is rare in servers today, and all the servers were top notch, and deserved the highest praise and tips- as they gave up their holiday to serve others at their job. And it was busy! They must've worked hard setting up for the holiday, as everything went like perfection. The food was awesome! My mum enjoyed all her food, as did my boyfriend. These two are picky eaters, and watching them enjoy their food was a pleasure for me. My salad, was so delicious. When you are craving something and receive it, it's magical. Oh, my filet was so perfect, MW, and tasted amazing in every bite, I looked like I was in a food dream. Perfect pink, more medium which I wanted, juicy, and the char was exceptional! I wonder what they use? The potato twice was yummy, and I devoured my delicious meal. My mum had leftovers, and my boyfriend cleaned up his meal, and then had pie for dessert. Our service was tops, by every person working there- the manager certainly knew how to hire, manage, and make a busy holiday successful for all. Again, I may seem to gush, but I have seen it all in my over mid sixty plus years! Making mature people feel welcome in today's times is something of a rarity in the service industry today. But I stand corrected. My mums happiness said it all. Thank you Allen, and I hope your family spoiled you after your shift, and to all the servers at Larsen's on thanksgiving day. Larsen's is still one of our favorite places to come for our family celebrations. We've been here for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, mother's day, and to celebrate those we have lost. At every visit, the Larsen's staff has taken great care of us. The food and service have both been amazing. Everything I've tried on the menu has been great. A few of our favorites are the garlic cheese bread, the spinach artichoke dip, the beef dip, and the new york steak. And don't forget to finish your meal with a butter cake. My wife and I came here on a Sunday night to celebrate our late valentine day dinner. It worked out for us because my wife wanted to visit a store next door before coming here so I made reservations over OpenTable. We found parking easily in the front because this plaza usually doesn't get busy and has tons of parking spots. We checked in like 5 minutes after our reservation but I confirm on the text message that we were on the way. The inside of this restaurant is very dark, when we went to the Woodland Hills location the inside is much more brighter. It took like 5 minutes for us to get seated and we were seated toward the back. Our waitress was Danielle and she was wonderful with us. They give us complimentary bread and then we placed our food order. I went with their Chilean Sea bass (I usually get steak here) and I was able to sub out the asparagus with fries. My wife went with the Chardonnay Soaked Cedar Plank Salmon and got a side of the five cheese macaroni. Our food didn't take long to come out and we were excited to eat our meal. My wife like her Salmon and I tried it which I thought it was tasty. My Chilean Sea Bass was amazing but the rice had some hard pieces and munchy. My fries were crunchy and I don't think they have regular ketchup here unless my taste buds was off. When our waitress Danielle came back to check on us, I told her about my rice and she asked if I wanted a another side dish of rice but I told her it was fine. The highlight of the night was when I went to the bathroom and saw they have mouthwash there. I never saw that before at any steak or high end restaurant. If it wasn't the price point it is, it'd be 3.5. I have been here multiple times over multiple years. I have seen the bartenders snot drop into a glass. A bartender talk about how difficult it is to refresh the sinks and clean. Tables with very dirty glasses. Stale food. Old food. It got a bit cleaner a with the new manager. The food not chef is the same. The $30 tri tip is infinitely better than the $84 ribeye. That's not right. The service is also well done now. But if you can't get quality cooking and ingredients, don't rock the prices. The thriftier you go the better the deal. 2 stars here but 3.49 overall. read more

So I just took my wife to Larsen's Grill for our 25th anniversary celebration and even though the company I was with was the best, my experience was anything but. To begin with, the atmosphere was as usual, clean, dark, and the right amount of chill music playing in the background. Then things started to go down hill when it came to the food. We ordered appetizers, which were by far the best part of the meal. Mainly, because I got raw oysters that came from the ocean and the kitchen didn't have the opportunity to ruin them. We both had steak with sides. The brussels sprouts were pretty good, to be fair, as was my wife's grilled asparagus. My wife's New York strip was served at the right temp and had decent seasoning- However my Porterhouse, which I was looking forward to all day, seemed fit for Sizzler or Denny's, rather than Larsen's - We'd both ordered a side of mushrooms and we didn't eat them as they were wilted and swimming in oil. Lobster was flavorless, even dipped in butter- Bummer! Speaking of butter, our favorite Butter Cake was so dry and disappointing. Tbh, I make MUCH better steak at home- In the past, we've have great experiences there. Service was alright- We recall in the past, managers checking in with tables, which didn't happen this time- Considering the economy and the price we paid, This was unacceptable- We save this spot as our special place... This was my first time at the restaurant, and the atmosphere was dark and cozy, giving it a comfortable vibe. The space was surprisingly spacious, and the service was decent--not great, but not bad either. I visited with my parents, and we ordered the BBQ beef ribs and tri-tip BBQ beef. The flavor of the BBQ beef ribs was excellent, but unfortunately, they weren't as tender as expected and were a bit tough to eat. I really enjoyed the flavor, but my parents had more difficulty with the texture. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the toughness of the BBQ beef ribs, even though the taste was fantastic. read more

Great large portions. The bread is served warm and is very delicious. We had crab cakes and you get 2 so we split it between us. The tri tip and beef ribs were so hearty we were able to split it between us. The lobster bisque is very rich with lobster in it. Very nice service and attentive wait staff. read more

My husband and I decided to do a date night and it was our first time at Larsens. My sister recommended the bacon wrapped shrimp. Unfortunately the shrimp was raw...like grey raw. When i cut into it i realized it was tougher than cooked shrimp. So i peeled back the bacon and saw it was raw. The baby back ribs were good. Dessert was good. But i was grossed out. We noticed other tables has garlic rolls which we weren't offered...and my sister went on a date night at Larsens the next night and raved about the rolls. Bus boy felt like doing what he wanted with water service and brought out bottled water instead of tap. Then wanted to remove them before main course service. I let him know that we had Avion bottled water on the table and we're still drinking it but still grab their glasses to walk away and I had stop him. Then five minutes later, he bought over a picture of tapwater and tried to fill the glasses even though we still had a half a bottle of Avion on the table. I let the manager know and she had an issue with me because I didn't tell her during the service which I didn't want to do with a party I was with on top of that the bacon was served in full strips this time for the Cobb salad, and it was undercooked and almost raw she had to argue with me the end. read more
