Sad to say, I cannot trust the food quality anymore. I got scrombroid poisoning from the fish taco I ate, which caused itchy and swollen eyelids. Basically, the fish went bad and grew bacteria / histamines because I suspect it wasn't refrigerated properly. The high histamines that grow due to the poor storage of fish, caused this intoxication reaction to happen. I really trusted this restaurant and have been there so many times. I have been a long time customer of Las Catrinas and never experienced the horrible service I did this afternoon. We wanted to sit outside & had a stroller which we moved to the side (out of the way to allow customers & staff to walk through) The manager kept making it an issue that the stroller was in the outdoor seating area even though we had it completely out of the way. This manager was extremely rude, absolutely unaccomodating & nasty and even told us to move the stroller with our sleeping baby on the side walk. This is not the way you treat families or long time customers. I have never had anyone suggest leaving a baby on the sidewalk. The owner of Las Catrinas needs to properly train their staff & either needs to hire new management or send this individual to customer service classes! read more

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and had always been satisfied. I went here one evening recently and come to find out they charged my card twice. Once for my meal and once for someone else's meal. I disputed it with my credit card and they said it was my responsibility for both charges. I only agreed to one. When they provided the signed receipt, someone at the restaurant must have forged my signature and my credit card denied the dispute because they thought it was mine. Until they investigated further seeing that the signature did not match any of the other signatures from my other purchases, the credit card company refunded me the money yet the restaurant still got to keep theirs. This is fraud. Be careful when you go here to eat. I will not be going here again after this experience. They should be ashamed. read more

Mind you that table is a plastic picnic table next to the bathroom (yeah you can smell it) and the other door that goes outside to access the outdoor seating area. That day was very cold and even with the heater that opening and closing of that door made it very cold. We ordered drinks and that took a minute. Then we ordered our food and it took almost an hour to get it. Usually I would say something but since it was my daughters birthday I didn't want to upset her. We got the food and it was cold immediately because of the opening and closing of the door and then of course the smell of the bathroom. Then my porn80 year old mom had to eat with her coat on. We asked the server if they had hot tea. She said they had hot water but no teas.... WHAT???? SMH After dinner, we were heading to another place nearby for cocktails and when my daughter stepped out, that's when I asked for a manager. I explained everything specifically that we shouldn't be smelling the bathroom while we eat and the plastic picnic table. He just kept apologizing and stating they've been thinking of changing things but I'm like when? This has been like this for as long as we've been coming. Finally he compted half our bill but honestly they just lost a customer. Because if you can only accommodate me and an additional person but I can't bring others to share in the experience as a group then you can't have my business at all. The nacho fries with chicken were out of this world tasty. French fries were topped with a blend of five cheeses, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream and pickled jalapeños. We added chicken to the mix which tasted as if it were slowly cooked on the stove all day absorbing the most yummy of flavors and lots of love. The guacamole tasted fresh but I wasn't a fan of the giant pieces of raw onion throughout. Also there should be mor Echols for the amount of guac provided. Presentation was beautiful though. Had 3 of the carne asada tacos. These were really dry with only cilantro and raw onion on top of the beef. Really could have used a salsa or sauce of some sort. Maybe something cooked to add a depth of flavor. Would really recommend visiting here for the drinks though! The hibiscus marg was one of the best I've ever had.
