In January of 1991, at the age of 27, I was diagnosed with last stage lymphoma cancer. I had a cancer staging surgery and splenectomy that determined the cancer was stage 4B, mixed cellularity. It had advanced to my organs and both sides of my bone marrow. Oncologists gave me between a 10% to 20% chance of survival if I made it through all treatments with a life expectancy of up to five years. A few weeks prior to being diagnosed, I had given birth to my baby daughter. My son was almost two years old. It was a very frightening and difficult time. I have been in remission now for 30+ years.
