No I don't have little ones, but a recent Yelp excursion led me to Lass & Laddie to take a look at what they have to offer. The cute starts before you even get inside, since this place is inside of a cottage type house... the sign is pretty small, so keep a look out! As soon as I made my way inside I was automatically in an even better mood, because the place is just so darn adorable. Bright colors everywhere, and just the coolest kids clothes I've ever seen. There was a birthday girl dress hanging up on the wall that I would have killed to have as a kid. As Julia pointed out, there's more girl clothes than boy clothes. I found about ten little tiny dresses I could see myself going crazy over once I have little ones (you know, a very very very long time from now.) On the way out, I took a photo of the most adorable formal dress for a baby girl (only $45!) and sent it to my mom, and she thought I was going crazy and bought it for myself for when I have future children. So that's good. But really I just thought it was cute and put it back on the rack... Stop by for clothes for your baby or even a special gift for someone who's expecting. I did a double take as I walked past Brooks Cottage, a 140-year old building on Jefferson in Kirkwood. I think it used to be a small law office, but a sign for "Lass & Laddie Handmade Children's Clothing" struck my interest. Now, I don't have any children of my own, but friends are poppin' little people out right and left, and I've developed an interest in unique kids' clothes. Lass & Laddies certainly delivers! The place pops with color and variety, as the owner stocks limited quantities of each piece in the store. The clothes are all handmade and come from all around the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. Each little outfit is like a work of art, carefully constructed and well-designed, and I absolutely love that many of them are made from reclaimed vintage fabrics. In fact, I caught a glimpse of a very familiar fabric while I perused the racks--a little girl's smock made from my parents' first set of sheets they received for their wedding almost 30 years ago! (Well, not *their* sheets, but you know what I mean.) For pure nostalgia's sake, I bought the rose-printed smock. Now I'll just cross my fingers that I have a daughter someday or that my future son won't mind my grand sociological experiments. The owner, Marilyn, is a doll who clearly has a keen eye for design and decor. Aside from the super cute clothes themselves, the space is highlighted by beautiful vintage ornaments and toys. Possibly even better than an eye for design is an eye for economy. Marilyn mentioned she'd like to keep the cost of the clothes in her store reasonably priced--always a good thing. These clothes definitely aren't Target-priced, but they are far more affordable than other children's boutiques I've visited (PyschoBaby, I'm looking at YOU! You pain me with your $76 Jimi Hendrix toddler shirts!). Lass & Laddie is still a relatively new kid on the retail block, having established permanent hours in January, and it's definitely worth checking out. Marilyn hopes to increase her selection of boys' clothes, but for now, she's pretty heavy on the lasses. All totally adorable stuff from dresses to jackets to pants to tops and some wicked cool handmade barrettes made to look like everyone's favorite--cupcakes! I almost bought one... for myself this time. For now, I guess I'll just stick with the vintage fabric smock for the child that doesn't yet exist... read more

Cute kids boutique in Kirkwood! You get very personalized service here, as they know their inventory. I went to look for an outfit for a wedding for my little girl. I found a really adorable one thanks to the sales lady (owner?)! She brought many things for me to peruse. It is pricey, but great for one of a kind items or special occasions. Lots of frilly type items that are not my style, but not everything is that way. They have some boys items but mostly girls. They carry some awesome STL labels like Swanky Shank! read more

So I have been trying to check this place out for a while now. They have strange hours- Wed- Sun 12-6 or by appointment. On Saturday I finally had the chance and I wasn't disappointed! On Saturday they had a trunk show with all kinds of goodies and if you purchased something they even gave you some flowers to plant at home! The owner was so helpful, I was looking for a Baby shower gift for a friend who does not know the sex of the baby. But I was determined to get her something sweet and cute not just bottles or onesies. I found the most darling hand made sweater and matching hat- crocheted by the owners 80 something year old aunt. And a sweet patchwork blanket made from vintage fabric from the 60's and 70's! At the baby shower everyone oohed and ahhed over the sweater and blanket and all 20 women wanted to know where I bought these unique little gifts! read more

I popped into this place on a whim. Great value! THey have a huge selection of fun things for all ages of children as well as a large selection of gently used items. A great place to check out for those ever growing nieces of mine. read more
