By FAR my favorite thrift store in the area!!! Every week they have a half off rack that applies to a specific color tag and by Friday that color tag turns into 75% off! Thursdays are 25% the entire store! They also have many gold sticker items that are "name brand" and very reasonably priced. (These are also included in the 25% off Thursday deal!) Wait! Theres more! Knick knacks, collectibles, jewelry, dish-ware, home decor, furniture, books, etc. Many of these being vintage items! As much variety they have it's actually the perfect size store (for my personality type anyway), too much can be just that. But LVAL has a great selection that's not overwhelming. Placed beautifully organized and many of the items have detailed descriptions of what/where/when they came from. So, you find your gems and leave with a smile because the staff is super friendly, there's usually a cute doggie to admire and talk sweeties too and above of all you are supporting a no-kill shelter that is passionate and dedicated towards saving our furry friends and working hard to give them a new chance at life. Fantastic thrift store with a dedicated and helpful staff. Whenever we've come down to deliver donations, there's never any issues with volunteers helping to unload our car. There's usually an army of people in the back of the store sorting through items all with the intent of helping animals in need. Support this great cause by coming through to Last Chance to buy something gently used and cheap, or drop a few bucks in the donation jar at the counter. This is my very favorite treasure-spot for so many reasons! I am a huge animal lover & I love that the proceeds help animals first and fore-most. Next, they always have such great stuff! And finally, the staff! Such a great place to go on my lunch breaks from work. (And I go often.) The manager has a heart of gold. Such a hard working, kind-hearted individual. New to the area, I was eager to discover some of the best thrift stores in Southern California. I believe this one is top tier! For many reasons: the cause, the finds, the staff!! This is a little shop that supports a wonderful animal rescue. I would shop here solely for that purpose. There is a decent variety of categories-- clothing (mostly women's), shoes/purses, home decor, etc. Every week there are sales on different colored tags and on THURSDAYS there is an additional 25% off of everything. I felt the pricing was generally fair and I found some amazing vintage treasures I'm so excited to wear. However, the true treasures of this establishment are the staff!!! Please let me explain... At the end of my shopping trip here, I realized that I'd misplaced my phone. It was nowhere to be found in my vehicle or bags. One of the staff members helped me search the entire store and even described my phone to other customers and asked if they'd seen it. One person told the staff that they'd seen a woman pick up a phone of that description off of a shelf and place it in her bag before scurrying out of the store. (I'd apparently set it down while looking at some items.) The staff member immediately ran out of the store and across the parking lot and confronted this woman who then pulled my phone out of her bag! This person appeared transient and not like their typical patron, btw. I couldn't believe it. I figured I would never see it again. And that surely would have been the case if not for this angelic woman going above and beyond to help me. I would never expect the staff anywhere to help me find something I'd lost, but to go the lengths that she did-- confronting someone-- I'd never imagine would be the case. This experience is not at all a deterrence for me to visit in the future. In fact, it's an incentive. I regret not asking her name in all of the excitement. She deserves an award. I will never forget about this experience and how kind the people are that work here. I will recommend this thrift store before any other in the area for as long as I'm here! read more

I love that this store using its proceeds to help animals in need. I have donated hundreds of dollars worth of items over the last few years, driving about 30 minutes to get here from my home. The donation proceeds is always quick and easy. They have always had very reasonable prices until recently. Last time I was there about two months ago, I was astounded at the clothing prices. Yes, the name is *completely* morose but please give this place a chance. You won't be disappointed. Last Chance at Life Thrift store is a large thrift store whose profit's go to benefit the Last Chance at Life Shelter which is an all-breed rescue and adoption organization in San Diego County. This place is literally bursting with an awesome selection of books AND they're cheap. I found the selection of furniture here to be good. I found the prices here to be EXCELLENT. Everything was reasonably priced and from my guess, the people at the store would have been willing to negotiate had I not been pleased with a price. Like the sign says if you like animals you should shop here or something. The proceeds go back to a dog rescue and like a lot of dog rescues they need money to keep the rescue going. The store is pretty big with just about everything from shoes to umbrellas and DVD's. The prices are pretty good and it's for a good cause because who doesn't like puppies? So it may not be the best thrift store but they do have some good stuff and it's worth checking out. read more

Overall if you are coming for the furniture and not the clothing you will probably have fun. The clothing options were pretty low quality, and overall the store had a "very well used" vibe. I donate lots of high end clothing & rolls of unused fabric from my clothing Company to this store. I had so much to drop off a couple of weeks ago. About 8 giant bags filled with designer clothing,new shoes in boxes & 4 rolls of fabric. I put it in my car until I had chance to drive by when they were open. I saw a U haul truck outside & someone inside on a Monday, so I pulled in & knocked on the door. Okay... so they`re closed on a Monday. Fine, but all I wanted to do was drop them off. The woman inside was very rude & kept pointing to the closed sign, even when I said I had bags of high end stuff that would bring them in a serious amount of $$$`s. I drove all the way to Leucadia to give the stuff to Rancho Humane Society. (I only donate to animal thrift stores). Pretty sad because LCFA needed the $$$`s more & Rancho had tons of donations. Would have taken us less than 5 minutes to unload. Sad. read more

Elizebeth this Yelp review is for YOU!!!!!!! I came in hoping to find a set of mid century lamps for my daughters bedroom. I found a vintage jacket and two other items. I also happen to have picked up a milk glass dish that had a major flaw as it had some blue tints throughout the dish. I thought, it would be cute on my daughter's bedside to put her rings in it. I came up to pay for it and Elizebeth says to me " that's interesting!!!! This use to be $2 and now it has a $1 tag that's blue" . Still not following what she was getting at, she goes on to say that's because the blue tags are half off today and this sticker isn't right. OMG I could not believe what she blatantly was accusing me off. I mean honestly, I'm going to walk around a thrift shop and look for a $1 sticker that's BLUE TO SAVE .50 cents. It's absolutely disgusting! Shame on you. I'm certain you guys have cameras. Why don't you have a field day watching your forage and I hope when you do, you feel a sense of shame. I do not donate based on the volunteers...I donate to help the poor and defenseless animals. I will not lose sight of the fact that every donation and every purchase benefits some animal in some way. This is a great thrift store! It's come a long way! I have been thrifting for many years and Rancho Coastal in Cardiff was always my favorite UNTIL, change of management, twice in 1 year. Most of the long time staff is gone and it is awful, so poorly run. Come to find out, the original management that was at RCTH is now the running LCAL! **This review is for the Resuce, not the Thrift Store** If you're looking for a new, furry addition to your household, I'd highly recommend checking out this rescue group. I attended one of their adoption events at a PetsMart in Oceanside. I have not been to the location of their shelter, but it seems like a handful of dogs stay at the shelter, while others are fostered. I had emailed Second Chance a few days prior to the event to inquire about a particular dog. They were incredibly responsive- they wrote back with information about the dog, adoption info and an the adoption application. The day before he adoption event, I wanted to confirm the location of the event. I could only find a phone number to the Thrift Store, so I gave that a try. It turns out that the ladies at the thrift store were the coordinators of the event, so I was able to get all of the information I needed + their firsthand information about the dog I was interested in. (Based on this I assume most or all staff at the thrift store is highly integrated with and knowledgeable about the rescue). Leanne and Patti were great to talk to both on the phone and at the event- they were so helpful and excited about the dogs! They have a pretty cool adoption process, where you first have a at-home "sleepover" with the dog to make sure they're the right fit for you. I didn't end up adopting the dog that I was initially interested in, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on this rescue as I continue my search! read more
