I can say this: they have a great musical instrument selection for infants/toddlers (their high-quality wooden maracas have saved our lives by soothing our baby boy when nothing else would), Jellycat stuffed toys (a huge favorite in the US and hard to find here), and great sales on their very nice and very unique children's and baby's clothes. I can't walk in without buying something. Plenty of room for prams in the front entrance even if it doesn't look like it!

I would say that Bebes in Kamppi and Peikku Punavuoren are pretty close competitors style-wise but they completely lack the warmth, congeniality, and helpful staffing that Fiilinki and Zicco posses. Lovely shop owner and sales associates. If they don't have something you need, it's likely they can order it for you. They'll even do it with a smile. Adorable clothes. Great stock of Bugaboo fabrics for such a tiny independent shop. Wonderful atmosphere. I'm so happy they are here for me. There were even some stuff for sale as well! My friend got this really cute cutting board for about 13 euros which I thought was rather decent. I ended up buying this cute Moomin charm for 4 Euros since I love enamel charms! They have a stamp rally where if you take their stamp card and visit another Moomin Shop you can get something. I actually visited the Esplanade one a few days ago which is too bad since I would have been able to get whatever their gift was!

These characters are everywhere in Finland. It's like their national mascot or something. I just don't get the appeal. I searched all over Helsinki for any hippos in their natural habitat, but didn't see any. Maybe they're hiding under all that snow and ice. They're supposed to come from the town of Moominvalley. This store has quite a variety of things with the hippo stamped all over it. The hippo might be smiling, or laughing, where the angry little girl just scowls. This seems to be stuff for children- things like kids clothes, or toys, but you can still get nice stationary with the hippo on it. I guess if you're hungry hungry for hippos, this would be a good place to go. I'm totally clueless about this cartoon, but it's bigger than The Simpsons. They offer the DVDs here that should surely explain it, but they're all in Finnish. The clerks seem to be nice, and are attentive here. The store is clean, and located in the T2 of the HEL Airport in Vantaa. They offer a bunch of souvenirs of Finland, but they're all Moomin. This seems to be part of the Finnish national identity. If you're flying from Helsinki (HEL) to Moominvalley (MOO), this is the place to get stocked up. They have all your Moomin travel accessory needs covered.

It's getting expensive. This store makes me feel less like his own personal atm and more like a conscientious shopper just looking to keep her kid looking NOT homeless. I really like this store. The only place in Helsinki I know of that sells Robeez - the adorable "shoes" that no baby ever needed but every mom wants. Self included. The selection is awfully varied and they carry the standard newborn to big kid sizes. A little bit of everything: sleepers, regular tiny person clothes that look like big person clothes, fleeces, outdoor gear, hats, shoes, etc...you can outfit your kid from head to toe here and at prices that won't make you want to bind your kid's feet and try to stunt his growth. It's not even what I'd call reasonable. It's barely affordable when there is a sale. There. Now you know. Because I love my child so much that I can justify buying something he will fit in for approximately 2.5 weeks before I dump it in an UFF receptacle, throwing money at this ridiculously expensive monster of a shop makes perfect sense. Right? Wrong. However, the clothes are very well-made (for those 2.5 weeks they won't fade, tear, or shrink), very cute (for those 2.5 weeks your kid will look like a freaking supermodel), and will make your heart melt (for those 2.5 weeks, until you have to return to buy more clothes to fit his ever-expanding ass). Despite being a vicious cycle of spending money, I completely endorse shopping here. Especially if you have a child and not an infant. I think that for toddlers and older children who aren't doubling in size by the day this is a great place and well worth the money for children who are actually capable of crawling, walking, making eye contact...you see where I'm going with this. Great selection of outdoor clothes, shoes, slippers, and everyday wear. Some very cute blankets and a small but high quality assortment of toys round out the experience. I love nothing more than a busy, bustling city centre in any part of the world but now that I'm…read moreshoving a stroller the size of my very own private island (see: Bugaboo Buffalo...that name is no coincidence), I really don't have the patience for the crowds when I'm on a mission and there is a sale. (there is a sale, at this very minute, as I write this and wait for the shops to open). Located in Kamppi Centre it's a good distance from the tourists who fill the Kluuvi store. You can shop here in relative peace, with all things Marimekko packing a punch in a smaller shop than the flagship shop downtown. Major pro for me: children's collections available in the shop. A bit noisier so when my opinionated 7 month old has something to say, the insulation drowns the annoying sounds out. Polite but indifferent staff - downtown they're selling to tourists with lots of money to spend. Here they realize you're probably a regular ol' Helsinki-ite and none of us are rich so there's no reason for hard sales :) All around a well stocked, family-friendly one stop shop for basic needs (aka: clothes for me and the kidlet, bags, fabrics, and limited but nice home collections). I am a huge fan. We spend a lot of time here. I'd say more but like I said: They are having a sale! Gotta run!

My friend got this cute coin purse for 18 euros which is cheaper than if we bought it in the U.S. since we are already in Finland!
